Other artists usually do a pre-sale in which a password (often a different password for each show, or groups of shows going onsale) is sent out to the mailing list/fan club. The members of the fanclub or mailing list can then go to Ticketmaster on a designated day (usually the day before or a few days before they go onsale to the public), put in the password and buy tickets before the general public. If anyone can go to jeweljk.com and get the tickets, how is it specifically for JewelLink members? While it's a wonderful and generous idea, it doesn't seem very well thought out. What the hell is "Do You Want to Play" all about? It is a very catchy song and I often find the tune and snatches of the words running through my head, but ... Unlike every other Jewel song I can think of, it doesn't seem to have a point to it or anything to say. To me it is definitely a low in Jewel's writing. It seems a series of random phrases with no particular point. Symptomatic of the weakness of the writing is the poor use Jewel has made of the Anais Nin quote: "Are you only half alive or have you always been this inarticulate?" In "His Pleasure Is My Pain" she uses this same quote (from "Henry and June") brilliantly, reversing to great effect the situation in which Nin used it. But in "Do You Want to Play" it is just seems a throw-away line that has no real connection with the rest of the song. After all, describing the place as "desolate" is not really the sign of someone who is inarticulate. In "His Pleasure Is My Pain", it is the inarticulateness of the man (not an uncommon Jewel theme) that makes the quote fit so well there. But not here. The only real change from the "Spirit" tour version is the "Oh...You're so special / Oh...Who gives a... " in the chorus, which doesn't really add much to the song either. So I'm puzzled, and somewhat disappointed, by this song. Maybe it's Jewel, for once, being inarticulate. Or maybe there is something there that I and Tanya just can't see. Or or maybe she's just playing with words, just for the fun of it and there's no more to it than that, and the catchy music. If there is more to it, please let us know what it is. Even though I have the CD I'm tempted to go out and buy it just because the price is so low. in the ad that came in my sunday paper, Best Buy has quite a few CDs in that price range, under "up and coming" artists. - -cymbaline the sick angel :-P "Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching." - -Bono ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 11:59:50 -0800 From: "Kevin Douglas" Subject: Re: [EDA] prefered seating I dont get it, maybe im dumb or something but if the 'prefered seating' information is on the jeweljk webpage- everyone who has internet access can get the information about the seats and through that-access to the seats. Thanks in advance ************ From the JeweLink: You've been asking us for preferred seating ticket sales and we've been listening! We've made arrangements to set aside premium seats for most of the venues on Jewel's North American This Way Tour that will be available exclusively to JeweLink and our Street Team members! ************ As you can plainly see, this exclusive offer is not an EDA thing. It was intended for JeweLink and Street Team members. If I was Jewel's Management, I wouldn't offer it to EDA's either considering all the crap they were put thru by us over the Nashville thing. I think we wore out our welcome with her management and they are moving on. I have been feeling that way with many things that used to be available for EDA's only and are now not like that Although it is poor odds of getting great seats with the prefered seating code (Jewelink has 35,000 members) but i am sure there will now be a whole lot more subscribers to the street team, so they had a plan there On a different note (i will stop being a selfish little brat now) When is break me supposed to begin airplay? I want to know when to start requesting it.
