Hardrock live has a webpage of event listings worldwide through the end of 2002 and Jewel is not listed for any venue WORLDWIDE- shes supposed tp be in orlando in 2 months not next year. Is some wonderful person going to give us a little advanced warning on when tickets for the US tour go on sale (preferably at least 24-48 hours before the they actually do- any greater time window would greatly be appreciated. Centralfloridaangel PS Im sure Cymbie and the lurking local angels would also appreciate this information ------------------------------ Date: 15 Mar 2002 12:44:15 -0000 From: maggan81@ngo.as Subject: [EDA] The Swedish album chart this week (week 11.) Jewel has dropped from 30 to 32 to 39 !!!! It's not a good sign! I have written to Warnermusic Sweden many times and asked them why they don't promote Jewel in Sweden and they are not even answering my letters!!!! I hate Warnermusic Sweden. Instead of promoting Jewel, they promote Alanis and Brandy instead! Well, I do love Alanis and Brandy, but why not Jewel?!?!?!?! I just don't understand! And SS isn't going so well either! SS hasn't entered the single chart yet and it doesn't have any airplay on the radio at all! Her voice was absolutely PERFECT. She got every single note absolutely spot-on, it was great. She also looked fantastic. I think she's cut her hair - it seems quite a bit shorter in the front. After a brief hiatus, the EDAF is back in the mix of things. Following is a re-introduction for those of you who are fairly new to the Jewel mailing list, and some announcements. *** WHAT THE HECK IS THE EDAF? The EveryDay Angels Foundation (EDAF) is a non-profit organization officially incorporated on 11-24-97. The idea to form an official organization was originated on the Jewel@smoe.org list where interested EDAs spent several months shaping the idea into reality. Our goal has been to encourage individual awareness of the world in which we live, and individual choice as to how to affect the most positive change. Many of our programs have involved bringing together partnering organizations and volunteers who are willing to lend a hand. For more information visit our website at EVERYDAYANGELS.ORG or EDAF.ORG *** CHANGE IN EDAF BOARD OF DIRECTORS Original sponsors of the group's incorporation papers were Mike Connell, Alan "MrBB" Bershaw, Larry Greenfield, Tom Proven, Amy Neufeld and Dennis Harris. Larry, Tom, Amy and Dennis were selected as the first Board of Directors. Larry left the board in 1998 to pursue other interests (like becoming an attorney for Jewel's team). Austin, Texas educator Ron Collins joined the Board last summer and now another change has occured. After four years of service as Secretary, Tom Proven is moving on to pursue other interests, one of which being his upcoming marriage this weekend! Happily, Tom will still be involved with the EDAF in an advisory capacity. We'd like to take this opportunity to publically thank Tom for his hard work, support and notable sense of humor. *** UPCOMING EVENTS Last year was a difficult year on many levels and EDAF activities were greatly curtailed. We are again raring to go and have several events and projects planned. The first will be a weekend doubleheader event taking place April 20-21 in New Jersey. On Saturday, Team EDAF will be walking for the fourth consecutive year in the MS Walk. Sunday brings the semi-annual clean sweep of our adopted beach in South Amboy, NJ. More weekend details will be posted; in the meantime we would love to get a preliminary idea of who is interested in the Walk and/or the Cleanup. Please contact Amy at w1ggy2@aol.com if you think you would like to attend. The weekend should be lots of fun as an EDA Gathering (we expect a sizeable New England contingency to show up!). If you are interested in planning or participating in a beach cleanup, MS Walk, or other event in your area please contact our special events coordiator Jason Vierling at edarunsun@yahoo.com. Stay tuned as more events and projects will be announced in the near future including FoodBank volunteer days in Texas and throughout New England, musical events, and a possible exciting follow-up project to the EveryDay Acts of Kindness Book from a couple years back. Hoping everyone is already feeling a Spring in their step... Amy, Dennis & Ron for the Everyday Angels Foundation ********************************************************* The EveryDay Angels Foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation whose mission is to promote grassroots volunteerism and community involvement. It has been a long time since I had experienced this with her, but nonetheless am greatly appreciating the raw talent that Jewel has. Break me was BEAUTIFUL, her voice was clear, sincere, and haunting to say the least. I truly hope that while she does the rounds again to promote her new single, she keeps the performance solo acoustic, as this by far the best way to showcase the song. We've made arrangements to set aside premium seats for most of the venues on Jewel's North American This Way Tour that will be available exclusively to JeweLink and our Street Team members! A limited number of preferred tickets, including stage front floor seats at most venues, will be available exclusively through a special link on www.jeweljk.com. The preferred tickets will be available to you at the same time they go on sale to the general public. These tickets will be sold at face value. Jewel's website will provide you with special instructions to purchase these tickets. It's important to know that there will be a limited quantity of preferred seating tickets available for most of the concerts. Your conscientious attention to JeweLink and Jewel's calendar updates will be critical for you to enjoy this opportunity. Please check the www.jeweljk.com calendar for concerts in your area. Tickets for the Jewel concert on June 17th at Chastain Park in Atlanta, Georgia go on sale tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Because Atlanta goes on sale a few weeks before the other venues, we are unable to provide preferred seating at this particular show. Please contact the box office or Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) for Atlanta tickets. When details about your preferred tickets have been finalized, we'll be sending you another JeweLink informing you exactly how the procedure will work and when tickets go on sale for the venues included. This message will be sent early next month. Stay tuned! This is so exciting to hear this news!!! I can hardly wait to see if i can get these tickets. I have two questions: We are planning to attend both Michigan shows...as the finalized details are being made, will the same people be able to ask for these special tickets for both shows or should we choose just one venue? INTERLOCHEN...would be our first choice...this place is awesome!! My whole family of 4 are attending these shows...(plus others that i would not expect to ask for special tickets as they are not eda's)...will it be reasonable to ask for 4 tickets so we can be all together? If my chances are better to receive these tickets for two people....then i need to know that...i would only request two and get the other tickets thru ticket master. I can hardly imagine the excitement for ciara to get to see Jewel singing from the front row!!! It is a dream come true for her to see Jewel from any row...but front row is the best thing imaginable!!! I will be looking for my Jewellink, morning, noon and night!! and all the time in between!! Thank you Jewellink, Jewel and everyone else who is making this happen. I hope all the dedicated eda jewel fans get these tickets!! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Mar 2002 23:24:54 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Billboard review of Break Me Hey I got Billboard magazine, with it's rave review of the new single. Here is it: While the media spotlight is primarily focused on new R&B and rock artists, Atlantic's crowning Jewel has quietly moved 1 million copies of her fine This Way, scoring top three airplay at adult top 40 radio with the sparkling first single "Standing Still". Follow-up "Break Me" showcases the more wistful side of the singer/songerwriter, with a lyric about the vulnerability that comes with giving oneself to another: "Feels like being underwater/Now that I've let go and lost control/Water kisses fill my mouth/Water fills my soul." Jewel's delivery is like a pale flower petal-fragile, touchable, and lovely in the simplest fashion. The song's subtle demenaor may make some programmers pause, but-much like Sarah McLachlan's "Angel"-with a few spins, listeners will absorb the message and likely embrace its spirit. The final note alone-a gorgeous, nine-second whisper-is absolutely chill inspiring, worthy of airplay itself. "Break Me" is among the artist's most understated singles yet, but it has lasting impact. A fine, elegant musical moment. - Chuck Taylor. Wow - very nice. Steve ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #106 ***************************
