I have a few things I mentioned in the ones that didn't go through that I wanted to say again, and then 1 new thing :) - - Just wanted to mention that while the list was on hiatus, I was watching As the World Turns, and in the background of one of the scenes, quietly (I think it was supposed to sound less like put in background music and more like actual music playing in the background, since they were at a bar) they were playing I Won't Walk Away :) - - Still looking for the I&I from December if someone would be nice enough to email me. I have a lot to trade, even willing to get rid of a magazine with her or something if someone would trade :) I would prefer to get rid of some audio or video though, so if anyone has this and it interested, please let me know :) For those of you that missed Jewel on last call when it didn't air in your area, if you get E! they are now starting to show them from the beginning, so you should be able to catch Jewel soon (if this isn't on the calendar) :) As for "Family Guy", yes, it is a great show, I made a post about the Jewel skit when that episode originally aired, over a year ago... I didn't watch it the other night because I'd already seen it, and completely forgot it was the one with the Jewel skit...I have it on tape somewhere too, (the whole show, but if anyone wants to trade me the I&I I can put the skit on the tape hehe) I was taping them all because they show was so hilarious I could watch them over and over, but I hear they are available on DVD in Europe now :) *whew* okay, that was it :) ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Mar 2002 20:20:39 -0300 From: "FabioJJ" Subject: Re: [EDA] IWWA on TV, I&I > For those of you that missed Jewel on last call when it didn't air in your > area, if you get E! they are now starting to show them from the beginning, so > you should be able to catch Jewel soon (if this isn't on the calendar) :) It's there, THIS monday. As for her album, She has been on the chart for 16 weeks, she was 52 last week, and she's 61 this week :/ ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Mar 2002 20:53:00 EST From: JewelFan3600@aol.com Subject: [EDA] NJC: Living Room Concerts? Hey Everyone, I am fairly new to the list, and I was surfing through the archives to get a feel for the EDAs, and came across someone talking about a Living Room Concert in the NYC area. That sounds so cool! Do the members of this list do this often? Do lots of people go, and can anyone go? I'd like to learn more about this. Thanks for such a cool list... I'm excited about this! Thanks, Ally ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 09 Mar 2002 17:46:55 -0800 From: Paul Yap Subject: Re: [EDA] Frustrated w/Tour Plans!!! Wait a second, that can't be right! That can't be the last of her concert tour dates. She has to come down to B.C. It would be immoral if she didn't!! Jewel still has a grand Canadian tour planned...right?!!! Do you know when the official dates will be done? Cause if she's not coming down here, it's just me and a very long road trip to DISNEYLAND! Christine Date: Sat, 9 Mar 2002 18:03:22 -0500 From: "angelicpoet" Subject: Re: [EDA] Frustrated w/Tour Plans!!! > Is anyone else frustrated by the Summer tour plans? I mean, she might > squeeze in a couple more gigs before they're through, but I'm really > irritated by them having three shows in FL, and none in NC.. Don't forget three in Texas too! ;) I thought the same thing - whoever books her concerts every tour does the same damn thing :) I don't want to get into the big arguement we had before on this list about the whole Canadian thing, but once again - she's playing *one* date in Canada. On the other hand, she's playing 4 in England (and she just finished a show there) etc. etc. and like the last time, again, it's just not feasible for someone to travel from B.C or Nova Scotia or something to go to a concert in Toronto, so they either live close enough to the border to hop on over to catch her in the states, or they get screwed. Yet, 4 concerts in England, when it's more feasible for someone to travel from England to a neighbouring European country then it is to travel across Canada or to the US for a concert (for the most part). Lucky for me, I live about an hour away from Toronto, so I still get to see her :) Personally, I just don't 'get' the person who obviously makes these plans.... I've been searching on the net to see if I could find some reliable info re: international record sales, but I can't find anything that's either up to date, or even lists Jewel - according to the IFPI site that keeps track of international sales, Jewel has never even been certified Platinium at *all* for *any* of her albums in Europe, and we know that's bull, so as I said, no reliable info. I would assume (which isn't always the greatest thing, but that's all I have to go on right now, so please don't bitch at me if I'm wrong hehe) that she does fairly well with sales in Canada - what I'd like to see is some comparisons re: her canadian sales vs uk sales etc, compared with percentage of population in the countries etc. (which I was going to do, if I could find the info) just to see if they are basing it on record sales at all. I might be completely wrong, (and don't beat me if I am) but I'd assume that she sells slightly better in Canada than in Britain...maybe someone from the UK, or who has more time to spend finding reliable info could let us know. I still get to see her regardless, so I'm more just curious than anything :) ~ Sandy - ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #96 ************************** ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Mar 2002 19:29:53 -0800 From: "TSUNAMI" Subject: [EDA] Jewel live... so often these days we hear artists/bands on the radio - and these acts are studio creations eg. they can't hold a note live, or they're often flat, ordinary etc. etc.; Jewel as an artist, exceeds her recorded work in live performance... Larry, the Kookybaka, asks about other EDA's concert experiences - there's several shows that I hold special, but, as a complete concert experience for me - Jewel (with Steve Poltz and the Rugburns) performing at Seattle's Paramount Theater in March 1997 (on the Tiny Lights Tour) stands out as brilliant and full; a transcendant musical experience in a gorgeous early 1900s movie palace; I have lots of Jewel "moments" - but that's the concert I recall as exemplary of Jewel's artistry for trivia fans, I've just returned from a recording studio in Vancouver - and was chatting with a producer who recorded a disc for a band called the Stoaters; Jewel opened for the Stoaters at the Lamplighter Pub in Gastown, Vancouver (Canada) "back in the day" ( : it's live and live only (to paraphrase Bob Dylan) cheers, Adrian ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Mar 2002 22:51:26 EST From: JeWeLsTaR386@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Break Me I sent Break Me to a bunch of people for that JeweLink Contest thing, and I've got a bunch of good feedback on it, everyone likes it so yay!
