I can just barely with any accuracy tell you if I've heard M2M or not but I have heard someone that sounds just like them -- BackNSyncDoorOTownBoys, etc, etc, Inc. Lowest-common-denominator studio-created drivel that offends me by its very existence. Crap like that more often than not will swing my decision from "go to the show" to "maybe not." People will say, Hey, it sells and this is the "music INDUSTRY." You know, they gotta make a buck. I say, Yes it does sell, but so did the Ford Pinto -- they sold millions of those rolling landmines -- and no, goddamnit, this is the "MUSIC industry!" I can say without reservation or shame that I am too old for that mind-numbing, senseless musical retardation and if you are old enough that you can type accurately...well, let me say that I know people on this list have, at the l east, a scrap of taste in music and so for God's sake why would you indulge in crap like that when we ! > all know there's better stuff to be had. WOOHOO! Definitely going to be at the PNC one because I'm from NJ and also going to make it to the Jones Beach one. When I went to PNC back in '99 I met up with some EDAs beforehand which was pretty cool, so when it gets closer we should talk about that. Hope all is well with everyone. I have no idea what charts eastwest records is talking about. The official german longplay charts are released each friday by a company called media control (means the current ones are from the 22nd). Now I checked the official charts on multiple sources (TV Text, internet) and every source lists Anastacia's 'Not that kind' at #13. (Which is impressive btw considering that her new CD 'Freak of nature' is at #1) Don't get me wrong, I was also surprised not to find Jewel in the top 100 longplay charts. I estimated she would enter the charts around #30. Now my guess is, that 'This Way' will be in the new charts this friday. I however have no idea where www.eastwest.de got that #13 entry from. Pretty strange... Just a quick note to say WOW! Jewel rocked last night! I was sitting with my sister in the fourth to last row or something like that, but the hall isn't as big as I thought it would be, and we could see just fine! I hadn't heard a couple of the accoustic numbers she started off with, and I loved that slow slope one... I think Walk Away is her weakest tune live..every time I've heard her perform it she seems to go sharp at the chorus..but Chime Bells was great (as usual!) and her performance of Break Me was the best I've heard so far! By the way, I haven't made it out to any EDA functions or whatever, but the guy who got up on stage..surely I recognize you from some of the photos? Either way, dude, talk about lucky hey?! So yeah, all in all, an awesome concert, way cooler than the Spirit Tour show I think, and it's good to see our Jewel getting back on stage. Take care you guys, Emily, Smitten Angel PS-if all of you out there could cross your fingers for me that one of the additional shows coming up will be Vancouver, I'd appreciate it! : ) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: Click Here ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 09:12:07 EST From: PENNY16161@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel in RS So I never post when I see an article about Jewel in a magazine or anything, but this one I really enjoyed and thought ya'll should read it. It's short. It's from this month's Rolling Stone labeled "College Special." Enjoy! Brett Jewel Spreads A Little Love REM and Jewel headline AIDS benefit "I felt really honored to be a part of it," says Jewel about playing the Gay Men's Health Crisis benefit at New York's Carnegie Hall. R.E.M. turned in a high-energy set, and $1.1 million was raised for AIDS charities. But what's the dilly-o with Jewel and Hollywood Squares regular Bruce Vilanch (also on the bill)? "She's a great entertainer," says Vilanch. "And she's got a nice rack!" I'm gay, and even I noticed." Jewel retorts, "He has a great head. But not the kind he thinks I mean." It's great to see the tour dates for the U.S. I've been extrememly patient, ate all my vegetables and said my prayers :) I will certainly be attending the Jones Beach concert in NY. I was hoping I would see possibly another chance close by but the only one looks to be in Boston. Another funny note . . . I never got to see the "full" Pantene concert, meaning the entire Jewel performance on TV, but I was there that day. Recently, about a month ago, I saw a commercial for the DIRECTV concert for Jewel and they were showing different clips. Suddenly they flashed a shot from the Pantene concert and there I was with my friend clear as day right in the center of the screen. I happened to see it on my way out the door. I joked with my sister "look there I am", then I saw myself and we started to laugh hysterically. So there's another couple of minutes off my 15 minutes. Have fun at the concerts. Yes, that's right, a concert in your very own living room. Cameron Dezen and Tess Wiley (formerly of Sixpence None the Richer fame) will be doing a few performances in Texas this March, and we're looking to see if anyone in Austin, TX would be interested in having Cameron and Tess perform at his/her home on Sunday, March 17th. To familiarize yourself with Cameron's music, you can visit her website at www.camerondezen.com. Tess's website is www.wileyrock.de. As a host(ess), you would only be required to provide a listening room in your home (the larger the room, the better), and you would also be required to bring in a bunch of your family and friends for the audience. If you are interested in possibly hosting this event, or if you have any questions, please email me at nicole@publicawareness.net. Please do not respond to me at this email address. thanks, Nicole ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 17:49:02 EST From: LoLLingIMer@aol.com Subject: [EDA] outdoor venues Hey for any New Englander Angels, Jewel usually does The Meadows Music Theatre sometime in her travels. It is a pavilion with general admission on the lawn. She could possibly play the Tweeter Center in Mansfield Mass as well which is pretty much the same set up or Jones Beach New York which is a good place, as I mentioned. I just wish she could sell out Foxboro, cause that place has some of the best tailgating I've encountered, lol. I saw Pink Floyd there during the Division Bell Tour. Definitely one of the best shows I've been to. Another possibility in the general area would of course be the two casinos, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, but the chances of her playing there are slim. By the way could someone please send me a link with the slated venues in the US so far, if there is one, I haven't seen a list yet.
