This means that it showed up on the German album chart this week, as opposed to next week where it'll show up on the album charts for the rest of the european countries. According to the official EastWest (Jewel's German record company) website, This Way debuted at #13 on the German album charts! This is Jewel's highest showing EVER on the charts in Germany! Just to give you a point of comparison - Spirit debuted at something like #45 when it came out in Germany in 1998.. and that was likely Jewel's highest showing at the time. So this is pretty massive. Hopefully this means we might start to see more success for Jewel in Europe. Just to let you know - Jewel's album is Top 10 at Amazon France, and Top 50 at Amazon UK. This is relevant cause Jewel's album has been top 10 at Amazon Germany for the past couple weeks, and that translated into a #13 debut... so hopefully something similar will happen in the UK and France. Amazon doesn't have any other European outlets, although I heard of an online cd store in Sweden having THis Way at #3. I'll let you know as soon as I hear any more about Jewel's other chart debuts in Europe. later guys! She's jumping all over the place lately. Dived 2 weeks ago. Jumped up again last week and dived again this week. She dipped 35% to sales of approximately 30 000. So she basically lost the increase she got last week. That put her at position #42 on the HITS chart... and we'll see what happens on the Soundscan chart. Just for interests sake - almost every album lost sales this week.... most within the range of 20 to 50 percent... so she's not alone. It does seems like she's teetering on the brink of making a full freefall down the album charts (much like spirit did in early January). In order to prevent this from happening, what Atlantic NEEDS to do is release the second single. However - according to a contact at Atlantic, they have not decided what track to release yet... and aren't planning to release until mid-March at the EARLIEST... and maybe even early April at the latest. That's pretty much the stupidest decision I've ever heard, and whoever made it should seriously think about USING their brain. I really hope Atlantic monitors this list (they supposedly do)... so they can read this. BTW - I know JeweLink announced in January that the next single would be This Way. And I know I told you the remix was made by John Shanks and would be in that angelina jolie movie. I have no idea if that is all still happening, or if it was true in the first place. All I know is that as of now Atlantic's official position is that they don't know what song they're going to release yet. I really HOPE the stuff about the angelina jolie movie is true.... cause it'd be cool. It did come from an official source (Jewel's japanese label website)... but who knows... maybe it was something that was considered and then passed on. Maybe they're gonna put a different track in the movie. Maybe Atlantic are keeping quiet because it's not finalized yet.
