Maybe she's really a martian and the scar represents where the tools were inserted to make her appear as a human? lol I'm thinking it's either a birthmark, or like you said the souvenir from an operation, maybe a cyst, OR it could even be something resulting from body improvement surgery...such as if her left breast weren't quite the same size as the right, or didn't "lay" the same, maybe she had something done to correct this so they would match. Unless there's a scar on the other side as well, then I think we all know what that could mean. :-) Nice post. Subject: [EDA] stage presence Jewel has stage presence? Maybe everyone's definition of this word varies. She mostly just stands in one place all the time. Sometimes she walks around some, but not alot. I don't define that as "stage presence". She's on stage, yeah, that's about it though. I think of it as more of an attitude. "Owning" the stage in a way. Drawing attention, etc. Yeah Jewel's pleasing on the eye, but after the first few songs, no one else find themselves drifting off, or looking around? I know I was watching people like Doug and Steve in 1999 almost as much as Jewel. Of course with the lline-up she has now, there's not much else to look at, so maybe that's part of the reason for the band change...haha. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Jan 2002 14:22:58 EST From: CleaningDuster@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] stage presence See i know you said that everyone has a different definition of the word, but in all the concerts i have been too, three, Jewel has always interacted with teh audience and danced. My favorite was at now and zen when she belly danced and showed us how flexible she is. her stage presence is also that you can't take your eyes off of her, because you are feeling what she is feeling through her songs. It's like you are sharing a personal moment with her. You are also mesmerized by her hand movements and just everything. With an intimate seating capacity of 1295 and a view of the waterfront as the backdrop, these hometown concerts were professionally taped and recorded. Throughout the month of February, subscribers of DirecTV will receive free weekend broadcasts of "Jewel Recorded Live At Humphrey's By The Bay," an exclusive one-hour concert special, featuring highlights of the two above-mentioned shows. Featuring nine solo acoustic performances and four with full band accompaniment, this special captures Jewel unveiling a sneak preview of new material, as well as a few favorites and unreleased rarities. The solo acoustic material should delight older fans and several songs from the new album, notably "The New Wild West," are performed in their raw acoustic form, quite unlike, but just as astounding as the studio version. Two unreleased songs, "Rosy And Mick" and "Per la Gloria d'adorarvi," a Bononcini aria that Jewel practiced while studying voice at Interlochen, are also featured. A spontaneous jam with the band on "Everybody Needs Someone Sometime" and a touching and hilarious version of "Kiss The Flame," featuring a member of the audience, are among the many highlights. The rarity "Everything Breaks" is also included (in a mesmerizing performance that left me dazed! -MrBB). The DirecTV schedule is not yet available, but when broadcast times for "Jewel Recorded Live At Humphrey's By The Bay" are known, we'll add them to Jewel's web site calendar and let you know. This will be broadcast repeated times during the month of February. ******************************************** ***JEWEL AT THE NHL ALL-STAR GAME On Saturday, February 2nd, Jewel will perform The National Anthem at The National Hockey League's All-Star Game.
