I did, it was kinda hard to tell exactley what it looks like but it did look very nice/expensive. Did anyone see it on the View? Maybe they will do a better close up of her tonight. As for the whole Jewel coming back issue. While it does seem Jewel does have a good repore with Dave and the show, being on the "Live on Letterman Music from the Late Show" cd and all, I belive asking people back the next day is more of a time filler. I think they usaully like to have three guest, two to talk and one to perform. If they ask her to come back then it would be logical that have time in the show it. Maybe they couldn't get another person to come in or their writers couldn't get any good skits out in time. - -billy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 16:27:06 EST From: RocketsTail@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Bye Bye So much whining going on, you don't add to anything by bitching all the time... Subject: [EDA] Absence of Steve No this isn't my suggestion of a new song...hehe, although it might be justified right about now. Does anyone else think that maybe the absence of Steve P. on stage with Jewel is having a large impact on her overall enthusiasm of late? I tend to think so. Especially since they often fed off of each others energy. Now she seldom if at all even turns around or looks to the side, as if her band isn't even there behind her. There's definitely a difference. I think Steve was a sort of morale booster for Jewel when she wasn't having "perfect" days. So his energy was channeled somewhat into her performance, which helped make what could have been otherwise borderline boring shows, to something worth talking about. Just my opinion though. Of course. :-) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 17:58:51 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: Ciara's comment lastnight LOL:-) you let your 7 year old daughter stay up until 12:30am on a school night? couldn't you just have taped it for her? cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus > When Dave asked Jewel to come back tomorrow night....Ciara yells....Jewel is > so cool!! ...i get to stay up two nights in a row!! If her "people" were smart they'd limit her exposure right now. It's > almost overkill. And, as we have all said, you can only hear her do "Standing > Still" so many times before it gets really old and boring. First of all, Sean isn't the first person to comment that it's overkill, but I'm too lazy to go back and pick out what anyone else said. I think what you're forgetting here is that it's overkill to *US*... because we, as fans, are well informed of each of her TV performances and for the most part, try to catch EVERY one... what Atlantic's doing with promoting her isn't overkill at all... every artist does just as much promoting as Jewel has been. They are trying to get interest in her with people who *don't* follow her career... those people aren't going to catch every one of her performances, because they aren't looking for them.... they just happen to be watching Leno/Letterman/O'Brien etc.... and see her. If you didn't receive updates about what Jewel was doing everyweek, how many of those do you think you'd happen to see as an average TV watcher? "her people" are smart.... they've been doing this a long time and probably have a much better idea than you about how to, or how much to, promote an artist and when it's "overkill" or a lost cause... limiting her exposure is the LAST thing they should be doing... her single is actually *finally* moving up a bit on video countdowns, etc. it was stuck in 'limbo' for a while and is starting to move forward.... I think they're doing a good job considering she's not exactly what's "marketable" these days.... ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 18:13:49 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Letterman/Standing Still - Atlantics mistakes > I doubt they'll release a new single anytime soon in the US as > Jewel will be flying off to Europe in a few weeks to help promote > the release of This Way and Standing Still. the single This Way *is* being released. Subject: [EDA] An idea for future shows Ya know how sometimes the audiences say bands names over and over again like when they want an encore? Like chanting OZZY OZZY OZZY, etc. for Ozzy Osbourne. Well instead of us doing that for Jewel, just by saying her name over and over again, and rather than waiting for the encore to do it, how about from the first song with her band (if it isn't the first one of the set), we all chant SO-LO SO-LO SO-LO... Ya think she might get a clue? :-) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 18:33:30 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Absence of Steve > What? I'm not saying the backup singer is bad, i havent seen / heard her enough to decide. but jewel does NOT need a backup singer. Its cheesy to have backup singers (anyone to have one!) its different if your a band, and you have a lead singer and a backup vocal who does harmony in the chorus, and adds backing adlibs... but jewel is jewel. she is not a band, and her back up singer doesn't sing harmony even, she sings melody. back up singers only serve good purpose of they sing harmony. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 18:48:48 -0500 From: "Sheila56" Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: Ciara's comment lastnight LOL:-) I did tape it and yes i always let her stay up to see Jewel on tv. - ----- Original Message ----- From: cymbaline To: Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2002 5:58 PM Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: Ciara's comment lastnight LOL:-) > you let your 7 year old daughter stay up until 12:30am on a school night? > couldn't you just have taped it for her? > > cymbie > tree hugger > -- > when night falls > it's dawn one must reach for. > -a. camus > > > > > > When Dave asked Jewel to come back tomorrow night....Ciara yells....Jewel > is > > so cool!! ...i get to stay up two nights in a row!!
