So at the parties PLUR could exsist. Much like the old days on the list when there werent many people, the convos were nicer, fighting was less often. But now more people are here, and there is no screening process so anyone can get in. Anyone with any opinion, anyone with any morality basis... just like raves now... you can experience PLUR on the list with a bunch of people you know and like... but you know you cant feel Peace Love Unity and Respect for people who you feel are scary and mean. its a nice dream but these days, with society as it is, we cant have PLUR right now. I wish we could but i dont think so. Subject: [EDA] NJC: Survey results! :-) Last week I conducted a survey regarding the following situation/description....which by the way was completely unrelated to Jewel.... - -------- Imagine this...an adult female, wearing a long below the knees white gown (not see through), nicely done makeup, and nice looking hair. No tattoos or piercings (other than ears). Basically like something a female might wear to a formal. How many of you would call this overall look "white trash"? I certainly wouldn't. I'd call it anything but. Maybe something like classy, or mature, or what it is...formal. Just curious what others think. Please send all replies PRIVATELY and I'll tabulate the results when I feel the majority of them have been received. Thanks! :-) So here's the choices: A. White trash B. Not white trash - --------- It's been 5 days now and I must say the feedback I received was very thorough. The results were what I expected though...that being that it was a unanimous decision that this description is definitely not considered white trash by those who responded. I didn't receive a single vote for answer A. Not one! The reason I conducted this survey was because there is a particular EDA who, just a few days before, had told me this very "style" (or wardrobe if you will), was considered by them to look like "white trash". I found this statement ridiculous, and disagreed, but I just wanted to be sure it wasn't only me thinking this. So before I jumped to conclusions, I felt I would poll the list to see if I was in the majority or not...and not only was I, but it was unanimous. So now all I'm left to say is...WHY would anyone think this is considered white trash??? There's an EDA on this list who does, but I won't mention any names. Just goes to show there are all varieties roaming around. :-) Have a nice day! Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2002 14:09:01 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: [EDA] NJC: Survey results! :-) age range Incidently, the age range of those who replied were from 7 to at least mid 40's. So as you can see, all types stated this wasn't considered to be white trash. :-) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2002 15:28:14 -0500 From: "Patrick Murray" Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: Survey results! :-) Hello, . > The reason I conducted this survey was because there is a particular EDA > who, just a few days before, had told me this very "style" (or wardrobe if > you will), was considered by them to look like "white trash". Not that you may very well be correct, however, you described a situation as you saw it. We received no counter veiwpoints, and even more importantly did not see a picture of what you may have been describing. The manner in which things are described is very influential in how an individual perceives them, and your description left little leeway in how you felt the 'look' should have been perceived, which could easilt explain why everyone who answered saw as they did. >There's an EDA on this list who > does, but I won't mention any names. Here she is. Happy New Year everybody. It was super thoughtful of you to send in money to Clearwater as my Christmas present! Glad you're doing things to make a difference. Thanks - you guys are the coolest! -Jewel Second, we also wanted to let you know that Jewel has designed a beautiful platinum heart pendant that will be auctioned off in February to support Higher Ground for Humanity's Clearwater Project. She has been working on the design of this piece for months and it is an intricate interweaving of two hearts with inlaid rubies and diamonds. If the designer is able to get it to her in time, she may be able to wear the necklace at the Letterman show, tonight, or on The View tomorrow morning. There are also 21 other musicians and actresses, such as Faith Hill and Gwyneth Paltrow, who have designed pendants to be auctioned off to benefit their favorite charities. These necklaces, along with Jewel's, will be available for auction online from Feb. 1st through Feb. 15th. So stay tuned for more details and if you would like to take a preview peak at the Women With Heart web site, please visit http://www.preciousplatinum.com. and click on the Women With Heart box (this web site will be expanded within the next couple of weeks). I want it sooo bad. .....inlaid with rubies and diamonds???? oh no, i don't know if i will be able to afford it. I mean with rubies and diamonds....i know that i can't afford it....but i'm going to try/hope. How much money do any of the eda's think this will start at? Mike may be able to find out for us???? I hope it finds its way to an eda!! I hope it brings alot of money for Jewels charity....she gives so much....she really cares and this is what i love best about her....more than her music! I can't wait til Letterman tonight....i hope she gets to wear it!! Have there been previous auctions with Jewel like this?? I can't mention this to Ciara....she would want it so bad...i'll just have to wait for the auction and then bid as high as i can and hope and pray. I would love to give this to her...perhaps it would be her good-luck piece...and keep in her heart PLUR! Good luck to all of you who may be participating with the auction!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2002 17:09:44 -0500 From: "Sheila56" Subject: [EDA] Jewel on tv I love This Way song...and Ciara really really loves to sing it. Could it ever be possible for the eda's of this list to request of Jewel to sing a song of a majority vote, to sing it on national tv. Has this ever happened before? We could request it through Mike...he could get the request to Mr. BB...and couldn't Mr. BB get the request to Jewel very easily?? Would Jewel reject such a request from the eda's??? I wouldn't think so, but i know i could be wrong. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2002 17:20:06 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel on tv > before? Mike is NOT part of jewel's management. he is the EDA List Owner. That does not mean he has direct connections with jewel and can call her up on the phone and say "the EDAs want this, that and the other". Besides, we have no say in it. What jewel does is up to her management. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2002 16:38:39 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Sheryl Crow does a duet with him...it really surprised me at first, but it's kind of a cool song...a little country sounding I guess, but it works well for his overall style. It's quite a diverse CD, that's for sure. Stuff ranging from rap to rock to hard rock to blues to borderline country, and even some reggae. No just kidding about the reggae...haha. He didn't overlook much though.
