Serve the Ego as been picked off the album by almost every reviewer as the "jewel" (haha I was going to put 'gem') of the album - even the bad reviews have said that Serve the Ego is one of the albums saving graces.... *knockknock* hello? is anyone home at atlantic? Maybe that *means* something :) Not that most reviewers know what the &$& they're talking about, but when it's a re-occurance so often in good and bad reviews, it's usually a sign that it's a good song :) I don't necessarily think it really fits in on pop radio (from Atlantic's point of view) but mainstream changes as time goes on, and maybe they could "pioneer" a change from the fluff pop that dominates airwaves now by releasing a single that's different - yet unarguably quite lovable :) and...I haven't seen anyone mention that Jewel's doing pretty well on the VH1 top 20 countdown - I was actually surprised since I hadn't flipped it on in a month or so to see how she was doing, I really expected her to be off the list.... but she's at #6 this week, up from #8 last week, and they said she's been on the countdown 11 weeks now, 8 of which have been in the top 10....so it seems like she stalled for a bit, but luckily instead of falling she's actually climbing the charts! It might actually be a little too soon for 'This Way'.... SS could still have some spark left, and might make a #1 hit yet .... then again, she might just end up with 2 songs doing well on the charts if they catch it just as Standing Still just as it's starting to plummet.... though I personally like This Way, it's definately not a showcase of Jewel's talent, nor do I think it's a great second single....though I also disagree with everyone who thinks DYWTP would be a good single...I think it'd flop :) but that's just my opinion, okay I'm going to stop blabbering now! ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 00:10:06 -0800 (PST) From: Michiel van Gorkum Subject: [EDA] Which dutch fans going with me to hamburg hello jewelfans, which fans want to join me to germany to see jewel in concert in hamburg. please let me know asap. i want to hear from you soon. so far i am going with an english friend chris and who wants to join us ?? we drive by car to germany. let me know by email asap! michiel Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Subject: RE: [EDA] the new a life uncommon video problem Well you can always just take the video back to the store you bought it from to get your money back...as long as you still have the receipt. I always save mine for awhile for reasons like this. If they did forget the extra footage on the VHS, yet still added the new text to the box, then there's going to be a major legal battle I'm sure. Should get interesting. > ---------- > From: now and zen girl[SMTP:lemming523@hotmail.com] > Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2002 4:20 AM > To: jewel@smoe.org > Subject: [EDA] the new a life uncommon video problem > > well i have been informed by a fellow EDA that the vhs form of the new a > life uncommon video does not include the new performances. well i talked > to chuck, from jmerch, today and he was comparing the vhs to the dvd. and > he said that he didnt know why the dvd listed the new performances after > the old ones and the vhs does not... especially when it says they are > included. so chuck said he was gonna take home a video and watch it. > hes seen the dvd so he knows the dvd has them... but he hasnt seen the > vhs. this is quite upsetting to him. image entertainment and jmerch put > a lot of money into this project. i dont want to speak to soon, or say > something wrong... but chuck said that if they did not include the extra > tracks on the vhs and only on the dvd there could be a big problem > between them and image entertainment... im guessing along a few > different lines, one of which being false advertisement... this sucks... > i just wanted the 3 performances hahaha... well maybe ill get to be the > prime witness in this whole mess hahah. hopefully there is no mess. > > well ill be talking to chuck tomorrow... or the next day. > > alisa > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: Click Here ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Jan 2002 16:36:26 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: [EDA] FWD: JeweLink: January 8, 2002 Here is the latest issue of JeweLink, directly from Jewel's "people", if you want to get a copy of this directly as each issue comes out, you can sub- scribe to it by sending a blank email to join-jewelink@list.jeweljk.com ******************************************** JeweLink - The Official Jewel Communications List ******************************************** In this edition of JeweLink: ***JEWEL'S NEXT SINGLE AND VIDEO ***JEWEL AT NHL ALL-STAR GAME ***JEWEL : NEW LATE NIGHT TV NEXT WEEK ***JEWEL TV: THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE ******************************************** ***JEWEL'S NEXT SINGLE AND VIDEO Jewel plans on remixing "This Way's" title track in Nashville this month as her next radio single. Yeah, that's right. I said "as if." My school newspaper (USC's Daily Trojan) had a year-end review and they had This Way as one of the worst albums of 2001. It got me a bit peeved, but I suppose it would be silly to reply to them because I don't agree with their musical tastes. The ones those they chose for the best I've never heard of. I only knew a few of them. Grrr. Here's what they said: "Instead of this tired, wimpy record, whose lyrics will probably turn up in the AOL profiles of many teenage girls, check out Steve Poltz, her old boyfriend and the guy who wrote her only good song." Well ... at least they know who Steve Poltz is. Actually they probably don't really. Grrr. Alicia Keys' album barely made the cut. She was number 10 on their list. Not only would I complain to them about this whole listing thing, but their freakin' whole A&E section is like the reprint of the Entertainment Weekly's year-end review. They copied the whole dang idea. Okay ... that's it. I just wanted to share what kind of bothered me today. Elizabeth, the tennis-ball-whacking angel P.S. Jewel is in this month's issue of Seventeen (on newsstands now). She's featured at the end where they have a thingie that says "when I was seventeen." Nothing really new. They have the picture of her wearing that flowery thing and tights riding a horse giving her "neighbor" a ride. You'll surely recognize it.
