Even if you are in a deserted parking lot there are still light poles that you could hit. And what if you lost control and spun out of the parking lot? I just cannot believe that you would put your child's life in danger like that! And even going 10 mph on a deserted road is dangerous. Ever heard of ice? I know from experience that even going 10 mph is not slow enough on a road that is glare ice. I was on a little curve and was barely moving but still had no control and went right in the ditch! Thank god this road was not a deserted road or I would have froze to death waiting for help. If you go off the road and your car is in the ditch with the tail pipe buried you can't keep your car running. Is this really a risk you want to take? Please, think long and hard about this before you do it again. I have seen way too many people get seriously injured or even killed from playing reckless games like you are. For your sake and the sake of your family please, only drive in bad weather if you need to. - -Mi Rinda a Minnesota angel who knows how bad winter driving can be. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 17:14:17 -0600 From: "Kovacs, Mirinda" Subject: RE: [EDA] blue eyes and blonde hair? Okay, I have seen so many posts about this Humphrey's show. I was wondering if there is a copy of it available somewhere. Preferably on CD as I think tapes lack in the quality department. So, if some kind soul out there has this and would be willing to do a B&P that would be wonderful. I also have tons of Indigo Girls boots if you were looking to do a trade. OK at the Humphrey's show on the first night Jewel sang a song that had the lyrics blue eyes and blond hair. On that night we were under the impression that it was grey matter but alas obviously it's not. Were those lyrics she just threw in for the Humphrey's show or is that another song? Can someone please let me know I have a friend who went with me and loved that song because to her it was meant for her and her man. If anyone knows what I am talking about just let me know. Thank you all so much December. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 17:18:45 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Sometimes, even years ago, a newbie would write in with a valid question that was probably answered before they joined. But rather than people kindly answering their question, as I've tried doing on numerous occasions, someone would flame them for being so ignorant. This is how it began...and what you see today is the result of about 2 years worth of this. That's why I said the list as it once was died in early 1999. > So i haven't ever traded angelfood or made friends on the list; certainly > it was mostly my fault for not being more aggressive, but i do wish i > could've joined back when the list was so welcoming that everyone became > friends. > This wasn't your fault at all...it was just bad timing on when you joined. > Back to the original point, do you think the changes are normal things > that must happen when a group gets older and bigger, or do you think that > it relates directly with Jewel's changes? > I think some of it is Jewel's changes, of course. But some other things are the overall average age of the list getting *younger*, not older. The size isn't an issue though. There are less people here today than there were at times in the past. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 17:25:15 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Uhmm.. so.. are you going to tell people to stop Bungee Jumping? and Sky Diving? and Kayaking? and River Rafting? Why take the joy away from people just because they are putting their life in danger? Then not only would she be putting her life in danger, but also her childs. Of course the child IS going to think it's fun. That's why it's up to adults to act in a responsible manner. I only have time to do 2 or 3. If a number of Canadian EDAs would help me then the quality problem would become less of an issue. Say if 5 Canadians would do 3 copies each... that 15 copies right off the bat... and if each of those people does one copy each.. that's 30 people with a 1st and 2nd generation tape... I haven't had 30 people emailing asking for copies yet! So i think it should be fine. Unfortunatley only 1 Canadian eda has offered to help yet. come on guys! I haven't been so happy to hear a Christmas song yet... :) Christy the Tattoed angel ===== "Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom." -- Jewel Send your FREE holiday greetings online! http://greetings.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 18:19:32 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] changes in Jewel/changes in list I think definitely the changes in the list have to do with the changes in Jewel... or more precisely, the changes in the level of fame she's achieved. Before Jewel was famous, the style of music that was "the mainstream" was grunge. Therefore Jewel was a darkhorse... this little folksinger with a beautiful voice writing songs from the heart. That was so far OFF from the mainstream at the time Pieces of You was released, it's almost ridiculous. I think there are certain kinds of people who are attracted to music that is not what the mainstream is. And there are certain kinds of people that listen to more mainstream music. Neither are better nor worse than the other... just different. When Jewel's music suddenly BECAME the mainstream, she suddenly had a whole lot of fans that were totally different from the fans she had prior. Pieces of You didn't change. It was still the same album - just it was popular. Spirit didn't help. Spirit was a lot more mainstream than Pieces of You (obviously), because it was all synthesizers and groovy keyboards. I think Spirit is definitely a case of Jewel subscribing to the mainstream. But This Way isn't mainstream.. or at least it's not what mainstream is now, I don't think. If it were, Standing Still would be a massive hit and it would be flying off the shelves in Creed-like fashion. But it's not. Granted, This Way is closer to the mainstream NOW than Pieces of You was THEN... but the mainstream is so different now than it was then so... I guess what i'm trying to say is it's all relative, in a way. Jewel's music has never been that far from having the possibility of being mainstream - look at You were meant for me. She writes catchy tunes, it's undeniable. Sometimes they're in, sometimes they're out... but they're never gonna be THAT far out... in my opinion. I think if Jewel had never gotten famous, perhaps Jewel's music would be slightly different to what it is now, but not markedly. She certainly would have released Fritz Creek Store, so we would all know whether or not it's the piece of shit Jewel makes it out to be. I think this list would also be quite similar to what it was back in 96. I also think that the critics would love her, and she'd be the hippest, coolest musicians to like. Selling 23 million albums doesn't do a lot for your street-cred, trendyness, hip-to-like-her factor. steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 20:12:59 EST From: TFace151@aol.com Subject: [EDA] I&I Did anyone tape Intimate and Interactive?
