I agree with you. Like I said before. It's dangerous to drive in the snow like that. You never know what could happen. Your kids would have just as much fun with you if not more if you would build a snowman with them, or have a snowball fight. Try that instead of loading them into a car, on a day when NO CARS other that dozers trying to clear the roads should be out, and placing them in a potentially dangerous situation. You may say "Well, is a deserted road" newsflash.....it's not deserted....your there. Which means the possibility exists that someone else had the same idea of loading their kids into a car...heading out to some deserted road, and have some fun? See my point. I had my one wreck...a head on collision on one such DESERTED Road. Luckily I was wearing my seatbelt, and my airbag worked. It was crazy that wreck happened, because it's rare to pass another car on this road. It wasn't snowy or icy, but if I had decided to do what some of you people are doing that's where I would have gone. Get my drift. YOU NEVER KNOW! ~kris~ ~the Nashville angel~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 15:07:39 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Re: jewel-digest V6 #679 In a message dated 12/10/01 2:13:41 PM Eastern Standard Time, owner-jewel-digest@smoe.org writes: > What i found funny was when she asked the producer if he "would be her tea > bitch again" lol.. that was something you dont hear a lot.. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 15:23:03 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Intimate and Interactive - copies Hey I've had a lot of people email me asking whether they can get a copy of the Intimate and Interactive from Sunday night. I'd definitely be willing to make a couple of copies of this show, but I definitely won't be able to make enough for everyone that's been asking. So, this is what I'm proposing: I will send 2 or 3 people copies of the show. I will pay for the tape and shipping and handling as long as those 2 or 3 people each send one copy on to another person (within the US obviously.. otherwise it's too expensive). So basically instead of paying me for costs, you simply take that money and use it to send the tape forward. So we'll just keep going until everybody who wants a copy has a copy. I guess to organise it I could make a master list of people who want copies of the show, and then pass the list foward to each person I send it to, and we'll just move down the list until we get everybody a copy. I would really appreciate help from any other Canadians EDAs in doing this.. because it would get done a lot faster if a group of us helped out. Any Canadian EDAs interested in helping out, email me and when the group is together I'll email the list again and we'll get it going. Early this year, a group of kids were driving on a "deserted" road.... whether or not they were kids is pretty much irrelevant, because it could have been anyone, really. Point is, the driver of the car went off the road slightly, corrected the mistake, but over-corrected. the car flipped over, and one girl was killed. You never know. A friend of mine was driving down the same road with her brother. She over corrected a mistake as well, and went right into a telephone pole. YOU NEVER KNOW. Luckily she was alright. But had that happened only a few seconds later, she would have been in a head on collision with a very pregnant woman. So whether or not one is a safe driver, it does not mean they will not get into an accident or whatever. Thats why they're called accidents.... because you don't plan them. Even when your going "slow" you can skid on ice, OR get hit by another car cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 15:40:08 -0500 From: "elchubbo" Subject: Re: [EDA] I&I Yeah. like she kept cutting off Jewel and annoying me...Like LET HER ANSWER! Do you think that it could be connected to the changes Jewel has gone through both musically and in her image? Back in Pieces of You days, the songs were, as we all know, underproduced, thoughtful, and created by someone who hadn't yet been through the star making machine. Really big fans of that kind of music would have a certain personality. Then as Spirit and This Way came out, though they aren't necessarily better or worse musically, they just have a different feel. A bit less simple, a little more mainstream. This probably has had a direct effect on the kinds of fans she attracts. As for me, i've been here a bit more than a year. A friend took me to see Jewel at the Gorge a few years ago, I proceeded to listen to Pieces of You repeatedly (stole it from my mom) ... it didn't leave my 1 cd, cd player for a few months. Someone bought me Spirit (maybe just because they were so sick of POY) and i started listening to that over and over again. Then last year i saw her in Puyallup, and in a frenzy of Jewel loving, stayed up all night that night finding everything about her i could on the Internet. Subsequently, i joined the EDAs. Considering that the first thing i ever saw about the group was on someone's website that had pictures and stories from Jewelstock, i was expecting something much different. I started out contributing when i had something to say, but a couple of my letters were made fun of and shy old me retreated to lurk and watch. So i haven't ever traded angelfood or made friends on the list; certainly it was mostly my fault for not being more aggressive, but i do wish i could've joined back when the list was so welcoming that everyone became friends. Back to the original point, do you think the changes are normal things that must happen when a group gets older and bigger, or do you think that it relates directly with Jewel's changes? -Maggie ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 17:11:59 -0500 (EST) From: space_bandits@webtv.net Subject: Re: [EDA] Archive Diving Interesting point Maggie. Very astute. As her music changed I'm sure a good deal of her fan base has as well. I can't speak for changes in the list as I'm really new but it sounds like that could have a lot to do with it. It'll be interesting to hear what the longtimers think about your post. Don't let anyone here keep you from posting anything you want to. Those are three of the key stations that JeweLink sent us. The single is now #25 at CHR/POP radio! Steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2001 17:55:36 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] The Band/Pre-recorded Percussion Hey - for all those interested: Keyboards - Steve George Drums - George Gray Bass - Terome Hannon Guitar - Stuart Mathus Guitar - Mark Oakley (plays acoustic during Standing Still - Jewel calls him Markidge) - -this was in the credits of the Intimate and Interactive. I think they're using a drum machine or pre-recorded percussion during a couple of songs. I know the drum loop on Serve the Ego is not performed live... although I believe that has always been an electronic drum loop. Also I think there's some pre-recorded percussion in Jesus Loves You (band version) and possibly This Way. I guess it's not worth getting someone else in to do percussion for three songs.. but still it's annoying. Thank God she hasn't stooped to using pre-recorded backup vocals.. that would be very bad. I hope this pre-recorded percussion thing is just temporary, for the promo tour, and when she tours for real it'll be all live... The reason I respect Radiohead so much as musicians (apart from the fact that they're a great band) is that they almost NEVER use anything pre-recorded, even though their records are so weird and electronic. They ALWAYS find a way of reinterpreting songs live, even if the song itself was constructed totally from computers in the studio. If anybody likes Radiohead, take a look at "Like Spinning Plates" from the new live record, as compared to the version on Amnesiac. Really different! The live version is actually extremely beautiful (whereas the album version is very scary and jolting). Steve ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #680 ***************************
