I'm trying so hard to like it, but it's just so flat. And, you guys are all right -- she doesn't see comfy on stage -- I think it's the time limit and the pressure -- at her own event she's running the stage, so it's easier to relax, but maybe if she could see a handful of EDA's at every interview or TV performance it would help. I definitely would like to see Serve The Ego as the next single... The new wild west is a great song, but I think it's over the heads of a mass audience... it's just so lyrically driven and I think that's why we all love Jewel, but I don't know if it's got mass appeal. As I've been watching the last couple of Jewel t.v. spots and such......I've noticed her new band(i think it is, not sure). Well.....Who is that dude that plays alongside Jewel, and he sings the chorus too? Oh my god, his vocals are soooooooo off-tune with Jewel's, it's hard to get into the song when he's doing it, cause some of the time it seemed like he was drowning her out. Anyone else agree? -John ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Dec 2001 09:24:52 -0600 From: "Eric Levenchuck" Subject: Re: [EDA] cleavage: important or unimportant I've come to think Jewel is very conscious about what she wears and the reaction it causes. If you look at past events, you'll see that she often wears something risqui. I have pictures of her at the Sleepy Hollow premiere and she's wearing a red lace bra under a see-through shirt. And then there's always the infamous see-through dress. I think she knows exactly what she's doing. "It's about the irony of how much a person travels in my job, and how it can really cause your emotional life to stand still," she said. "Fame really tolerates a prolonged adolescence, and your fame and career can outgrow your ability to handle it. You can really spoiled, and I wanted to get away from [that] and make sure I wasn't standing still." Jewel also explained that the three-year gap between her studio albums of new music was because of a self-imposed exile from the music business. "It became about hits and being famous, and it was really hard for me to stay impassioned about it," she said. "More than anything, stepping back allowed me to get back to why I really like what I do." They are easy to read since all you have to be able to do is count. Actual music theory knowledge isn't really necessary for the most part. First thing is learn your major and minor chords before going into all the variants (like Asus7 and all that). That way, you can at least "fake it" when you see a funky chord until you can sit and learn the real ones. Basically if you see something weird like Asus7, then you can just play A for the time being. If you have any questions (or anyone), feel free to email me. I've got a question for all you self-taught guitar players. What do you think was the easiest and most comprehensive method for you to learn? I've printed out some tabs to some of Jewel's songs and have been looking up the cords and trying to learn that way for now. Is there any advice somebody could give me? Thanks! He's so close-minded that he doesn't even realize things like that. I think he's coming from the Land of Oz...haha. Or maybe the Dark Side of the Moon. So > that means I don't have half a brain cell and that I'm musically ignorant? > I > beg to differ.... - --------------- Sean's good about insulting people, ....most of which are those he's never even heard from, and never will now. Others do this as well. This was one of my reasons I guessed before that he doesn't have many friends. And before one of Sean's "supposed" friends tries to tell me I insult people too, remember that when I write it's from a light-hearted point of view. I joke around. Even when I said something about Sheila, that was to be taken jokingly. It wasn't I guess, but I've since corrected that misunderstanding. The only other times I may insult anyone is only after they write these moronic sounding posts to me that make no sense whatsoever...and have also already tried to insult me and half the list in doing so (for example, Sean's post). Although my replies are *still* always meant to be taken in a joking manner...thus my consistent and frequent use of things like :-) ;-) :-D, LOL, HAHA, hehe... etc. Look back at any of my letters and you will see it filled with those emoticons. :-) Derrick PS...thanks for your post Heather...good will prevail over evil!!!!!
