When she first asked me if I would be willing, I had to ask her about Ty, and she said "well, what about him?" I knew then that things would have to be kept quiet, for the sake of her public image, my unbroken, unsmashed face, and Ty's as of yet unbloodied knuckles. That's right, she married a Texan, but not Ty.... Since he lives less than two hours away from me, I thought that it would be wise to not reveal this secrect, but since everyone started talking about it, I felt that I must stand up for my love, and my wife. She did not settle for some cow jockey wth bowed legs and cowsweat stained jeans.. Nope, instead she held out for some construction worker with bowed legs and mud splattered jeans. If he feels cheated, and wants to attempt to win her back, he can feel free to come and try. I'll be at.. (damn, lost Connell's address... I'll get back to ya'll on that) So, that is why everything was hush-hush... some EDAs got married, a couple went to work for Jewel, I just had my sights set a bit higher... Jewel hasn't quite made up her mind about how to break it to Ty, so we've agreed that she should stay on his arm in public until that gets worked out.... But if you hear of her changing the title and lyrcs to Stephenville to "Merkel, TX" you'll know that she took my advice in the matter. lol ;-) Rowdius PS( Mr BB, when you talk to her next please ask why the phone number she gave me is to some south cal pizza joint... am I just transposing some of the numbers, or what? ) >From: "Kelli Coppens" >To: Jewel@smoe.org >Subject: [EDA] Jewels marriage a secret >Date: Sun, 02 Dec 2001 17:44:08 -0500 > >Okay I have read enough rumors now and i for one believe that they are >true. 'break me' is a sweet love song...jewel is just being honest about her feeling towards a man she admires (in this case ty) i can relate to 'break me' a lot...and i'm a guy...i can think of a few instances when i was so desparate for someone's love that i would do almost anything for their love ('break me/ just let me feel your love again) These songs are not something that actually puts women down women in any kinda subservient way...they are good songs...good musically (especially in serve the ego's case) i didn't like 'break me' the album verstion as much as the original acoustic. so think a little before you make wild accusations about how people 'perceive' women based upon some of their musical preferences. granted i don't enjoy shakira...saw her on SNL and all i saw was some ass shaking and little else...not much musical content there...but i like guns n' roses 'back off bitch' ...does that make me a male pig? it's just an honest expression of someone's frustration with women...jewel's 'break me' and 'serve the ego' are just the same...so i had to just correct you perceptions a little...i'm sure derrick will do the same ...all i know is what i think of when i hear these songs...i do not think of subserviance at all...i think of an expression of love and hate, whether that be letting go of your own ego enough to love someone (break me), or to spite someone with irony for having an overinflated ego(serve the ego). so yea, there ya go tom the 'cactus' angel _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Dec 2001 20:44:07 -0500 (EST) From: space_bandits@webtv.net Subject: [EDA] Re: Anyone have a thought? Well I just saw Jewel's "ta-ta's" (I mean Jewel) on the VH-1 pre-show for the awards show. :-) They interviewed her some. The outfit she was wearing was quite colorful and didn't leave much to the imagination. I thought maybe it was just me at first, but literally one minute ago they had this "people" magazine fashion guy on the show along with the VH-1 person, and they were doing a run down sort of for the various fashion statements from the celebrities who were there. When they got to Jewel, all you saw on the monitor behind them was Jewel's chest...and the guy said "everyone, this is Jewel's chest"! LOL It was SOO funny! So they talked about her chest some, then about the kimono type of outfit she was wearing (still showing the close up of her chest the whole time) and comparing it to something Madonna would wear. Not sure whether they liked it or not though. During the interview earlier, the lady from VH-1 said it looked like Jewel just threwh something on for the show...haha...oh well. I guess we'll have to see what happens during the show itself. Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Dec 2001 20:11:07 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Something around the house that you think another EDA may enjoy was what I got out of it. Is that about right? Or a small, thoughtful, funny, or Jewel-ish token?? Okay, I was just about to ask what time she'd be on VH-1, but my friend called to fill me in, and I caught it. I love the woman's music, and I'm not big on psycho-analyzing her at every turn, but I guess I'll add my two cents. To me, just now, she seemed like a woman in her element. The interaction she had with fans, the engagement she showed with the music, seemed like the picture of everything she hoped for when she made the decision to pursue the career. If everything we told our mothers we'd become worked out like this, we'd all be pretty blessed. Sometimes, it's easy to forget that in the work, the tears and stress. But I think Jewel remembers. And that's the last thing I'll say about her emotional state, because that's all as a fan, I can gather. She looks really good too, I love all the clevage, lol. By the way, what Derrik said is not true, when the VH1 vj said it looked like she just threw something on, it was more along the lines of, "It looks like you just threw it on and you look so beautiful." and the people magazine guy said that he DID like it. I think Derrik is just being his usual negative self. Also I loved it when Jewel made fun of Britney in the pre-show. She said something like "Oh yeah, I'm gonna have 20 dancers in nothing but baby oil" and the vj said "hith a big Boa around your neck?" and she goes "Oh Yeah". It was funny.
