I think you are missing the point. We all work hard at what ever we do.
Jewel happens to be compensated really, really well for it. She has no more
or less right to bitch about it then anyone. The issue is that Jewel chose
to seek fame, and she has to pay the price that comes with it, or else walk
away. You may say that's noy an easy choice, and it surely isn't but others
have done it.

show. Jamie Lynn Sigler from the Sopranos also performed on the NY show but

You're on dangerous ground here.  I know from personal experience that one
of the worst things you can do on this list is imply that you (or anyone)
works harder than Jewel.  I've had personal experience with this a while
back, and it was not fun.  I had a long argument (mostly off the list) with
several EDAs who refused to believe that *anyone* works harder than Jewel.
Most of the discussions went something like this:

Me- My father has worked 80 hours a week for the last 35 years and all he
has to show for it is two bad knees and a failing heart.
Them- It might be hard for him, but I'm sure it doesn't compare to the promo
work and touring Jewel has done in the past few years.
Me- Jewel has become a millionaire doing what she loves, while millions of
people work their whole lives at thankless jobs and never get ahead.
Them- I'm sure they don't work as hard as Jewel does.  And if you add up all
the money she's made and divide it by the number of hours she's worked, she
barely makes anything per hour.

To this day, the statements made by "them" still don't make sense to me.
Maybe I'm missing something.

Sorry for this little rant, but since this subject has come up again I felt
I had to get some of this stuff off my chest and issue a warning to EDAs who
share my opinion on the matter.  By the way, this is *not* an invitation to
start up past debates about this with me.  Just tell yourself you're right
(like I have) and leave it at that.  I've said all I'm ever going to say on
this matter.

Anyone who comes up with the argument you imply to "them" demeans themselves
and their parents, etc. Just because someone is not a "star" doesn't mean
they don't work as hard or (g-d forbid) harder than Jewel. What gets me is
that most of the people who defend her are struggling to make it, or just
starting out, and will work their asses off to pay the bills without ever
becoming a millionaire.

Jewel is a great talent, but come on people.

Just one more point.

Jewel chose the path of living in her van, etc. at the age she did that,
most of us were or will be in college pulling all nighters and reading 100s
of pages a week to get by. Sorry, but the Jewel works harder than anyone
just puts the person making the argument down.
