That's a decrease of 19% from her first week sales. That's a respectable result for her second week, although somewhat dissapointing since many other artists managed to have significant increases in their sales this week (thanks to Thanksgiving weekend). Examples include Britney Spears with a 35% increase, Madonna with a 12% increase, and Enya with a 44% increase. However Shakira lost 30% of her sales in the second week, and Rob Zombie lost 55%. So it's not bad at all. The chart position itself could be different on the final billboard chart because after the top 10 the positions tend to flip around a bit for the final chart. We'll see. Hopefully as the holiday shopping season continues she'll start posting week-to-week increases in sales.. We'll see how it goes. Just as a note, her combined sales in the US now stand at approximately 256 000. Subject: [EDA] gift exchange I think if we're going to have a gift exchange, a price limit (or better yet, range) needs to be set so there aren't alot of upset people. It's reality. It's going to happen if there aren't some guidelines established regarding price. And if you'll be sending something you already own, you can still estimate it's value. Like say $10-$20. I think that's reasonable. Being that there are a variety of types of people on this list, ranging anywhere from 7 year olds in first grade to 60+ year olds....or 13 year old jr. high kids with no money whatsoever compared to a 40 year old corporate executive making well over 100k/year. I just think some guidelines should be in place regarding price. I've seen this done before, this gift exchange concept, and the only way it's ever successful is to set up something like this beforehand. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Nov 2001 16:37:24 -0600 From: "Eric Levenchuck" Subject: [EDA] New Single and Violet Eyes Whatever Jewel's next "single" is, I hope it's released as an actual single and Violet Eyes is the b-side. I don't think this will happen though, since any b-sides would probably come from her Nashville show. And unfortunately, if SS wasn't released as an official single in the US (still can't figure out why), there isn't much hope for future releases of singles, b-sides, bonus tracks, etc. from This Way. You know what's worse than 20 posts a day by Derrick (and I doubt it's that many, maybe 5 at the most, and most are interesting). It's 1 post about how annoying Derrick's posts are, the "reply all" button is not there to use all the time, sometimes just the "reply" button will do so you can make it private ;) And I love Michelle Branch also, what's wrong with that? Maybe you don't want to read about it, but I don't mind, and most others probably like the info Derrick has provided on when she will be on, etc. (Hey Derrick, when we going to schedule the boxing match to fight over her ;) ) Anyways, not to completely waste this post I think "Break Me" will be the most likely choice for Jewel to play, that's what she played the most over here in AUS on all the radio stations when she was doing some solo/acoustic appearances, "Standing Still" was always on the TV and with the band. But I've been listening to the album a while now and I really do think "Serve the Ego" would be her best choice for the next single. I think this song would really catch a lot of attention and Jewel would probably enjoy playing this more. It has that more alternative/heavy rock appeal. Guess we'll just see what happens.
