At the show I was at she played NYA acoustic, then 3 acoustic songs in the middle, plus does anyone believe in love (which was very new at the time) with thin instrumentation. she also played absence of fear (which is just a piano) and chime bells.. but I have a show on tape where she played 5 acoustic songs in the middle, as well as NYA, absence of fear, angel standing by and chime bells... which is 9 in total. So it really varied. I watched her on the Tonight show the other day and I liked her song. Well, I have to go for now cuz I have to send in this stupid Jury Duty form. I don't want to go to jury duty, so one of my friends told me to put something that will get me out of it like writing, "I hate chinks", but I don't want to look like a racist or anything, so I wrote, "I love chinks". I don't see the need for code words like "angelfood" (which is retarded) and "tape tree" etc. Can't we just say Jewel live audio or video? I don't see a problem if someone wants to charge for Jewel recordings. I don't do it but if someone wants to charge for their precious time to dub materials so what? No one is making a million doing it! I always try to find the best source available (obviously someone who has the master) and I would rather pay good money and get something right off the original source than take a chance on I also agree rap-metal is old. First, we have a great new "This Way" poster available now. Its one of Jewel's favorite shots from the CD insert booklet in a large 30" x 20" format. Secondly, we've been getting many inquiries about the annual holiday ornament. JMerch has decided not to produce a 2001 edition, however we are offering a limited number of the 2000 Edition Holiday Ornament along with the extremely rare "Jeweltide Carrolls" CD. For those who are not familiar with this CD, it was a private limited edition CD sent by Jewel and Lenedra in 1998 as a holiday greeting to friends and associates, and contains unreleased studio recordings of them singing "Rudolph, The Red-nosed Reindeer" and "I Wonder as I Wander." These recordings are not available anywhere else. Also, we have a handful of the 1999 Inaugural Edition Holiday Ornaments. This edition is extremely limited and we will run out of them. Both are now available at a new low price in the Jewel Emporium at http://www.jeweljk.com/store/accessories.html Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and thanks for taking the time to read this. Other than what's mentioned above and posted on the calendar, there's not much else to tell, so I'll use this opportunity to answer two of the most common questions we've received over the past week. By far, the most common question pertained to Jewel's performance on Garth Brooks' prime-time "Coast To Coast" special last Wednesday night. Everyone wanted to know the name of the song Jewel sang at Garth's request, following "Standing Still," and if it will be released. There are no current plans to release this performance, but the name of the song is "Someday Soon." This song was written in the 1960s by Canadian songwriter Ian Tyson, better known as half of the duo Ian & Sylvia. It's been covered by numerous singers over the years, with one of the more familiar versions released by Judy Collins. We've also received many questions about Jewel's plans for Europe. Coinciding with the release of her album in Europe toward the end of February 2002, Jewel will embark on a European Promo Tour to help promote the album, much like she's done in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and here in the states. She'll primarily be doing major media appearances (TV, radio, print interviews, etc.) and a concert at The Royal Festival Hall in London is scheduled for February 26th. Jewel plans to return to Europe several months later for a real concert tour and to play a few festivals. As more details are confirmed, we'll let you know and post them on the calendar at www.jeweljk.com. That's about it for today. We hope you're enjoying the new website and we'll be back to you soon, MrBB - --- You can help a friend subscribe by having them send a blank email to join-jewelink@list.jeweljk.com To view selected back issues of JeweLink, please visit the JeweLink Archive at the www.jeweljk.com calendar page. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2001 17:38:09 -0500 From: "Kelli Coppens" Subject: [EDA] njc: snowstorm!!
