["Charles Gregory" Subject: [EDA] John Mayer :) SJC remembering our "who should open for Jewel?" topic, I MUST say that John Mayer should be the one! I FINALLY bought his CD at Target for only $7.99... it even came with a live 2 track bonus disk, so for $7.99 thats a great deal. He is so good, (and quite cute too!), and I'm so surprised that a great CD was so cheap. I kept hearing about him from one of my friends, I downloaded a few of those audio files... (what are they called again?? lol) and liked what I heard, and I accidently ran across it at Target... the tag said $8.99 and it rang in as $7.99.... YES!!! even cheaper! lol, I'm a sucker for saving cash. anyways, I'm rambling.... so yeah, he'd be a great opener for Jewel. I love John :) cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 23:29:28 From: "Gerry Lipnowski" Subject: [EDA] re Jewel and Garth Hi folks, Alisa wrote: "expression on her face when she sang that someday song, when she sang the line "he loves his rodeo almost as much as me", did you see her face... it was like she was saying it about ty, though she nor garth wrote that song, judy collins did... i just thought it was neat cus you could see her relating to the song." As a proud Canadian, I feel obliged to point out that "Someday Soon" was actually written by Ian Tyson, of Canada's folk legend couple Ian and Sylvia. (Ian also wrote the classic "Four Strong Winds.") Nevertheless, I agree with our now and zen girl that Jewel did take some particular delight in the rodeo theme of the song, and I took particular delight in Jewel's performance of it! What a terrific surprise. Yup, she was in top form. More later.... Cheers all, Gerry _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 18:30:19 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Various Charts We know that Jewel debuted at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. She also debuted at #5 on the Internet Sales Chart. Her song is now #61 on the Billboard Hot 100. She debuted at #21 on the Canadian Album Charts, and Standing Still moved up from #83 to #75 on the Airplay Charts. On Billboard's Adult Top 40 she is still at #8 - however she is about to lose her bullet. This means that her spins are starting decrease! This has also happened in the Adult Contemporary, and Triple A formats and is probably on the verge of happening in Pop. So basically the song appears to be dying. There's not much we can do at this point I don't think - they should probably move to the next single pretty soon. She has a style all her own and she plays wonderfully if simply live, but in the studio she doesn't even pick it up apparently. Thats the only negative about the last two cd's. I miss hearing her play. np: Hawkwind "California Brainstorm" >-------------------------------------> >sorry, I forgot one thing. > >Is there any chance that Jewel would ever make and release a score? I haven't heard anything about a "This Way" music book yet but I'm sure the tabs will turn up, if not in a book but on the Net or in music magazines. :-) Sean _/ _/_/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/_/ _/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/. _/_/ - ------------------------------------------------------------ Weedmail.com free email Click - http://weedmail.com FREE Weed offers Click- http://weedmail.com/1.htm ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 21:33:38 EST From: Getmamayo@aol.com Subject: [EDA] jewels next hit I just tuned in to a local montreal radio station called chom 97.7 fm, and they had a show on called sneak previews, and they were playing Grey Matter from This Way.
