A lot of country and urban groups do it, and it helps them gain wider fanbases and sales.. I was thinking Cleveland is really radio-ready in a country way, and Serve The Ego would be great on Alternative Radio.. And then The New Wild West on Triple A and folk/indie stations since Jewel loves it so much.. Okay, that's my brain fart for today.. =) scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 . Yahoo! Not all the songs were taken from the Nashville recordings. Grey Matter and SIBTW on the US release aren't from the same venue...it's very noticeable in the differences of the sound of the 2 songs, mainly Jewel's vocals. I haven't heard any other recordings yet, like the Aussie single, or full length release, but I expect that it contains at least one other Nashville recording (maybe Stephenville). Not sure about the other song. As for what's on the other full lengh releases, I have no clue, but I do remember it being said that the live recordings would be coming from various venues. At least 2 different places, maybe more. Derrick PS...it's been mentioned that Grey Matter on the US full length release may have been from the Vermont show. Anyone who was there (and has a good memory) may be able to verify this. > ---------- > From: RockerGrl34@aol.com[SMTP:RockerGrl34@aol.com] > Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2001 4:20 PM > To: jewel@smoe.org > Subject: [EDA] *live songs.. > > Derrick wrote: > "Not all of them are. LOL Where the 2 are from I can't verify but I think the USA one is from Nashville. Don't know about the other though. Subject: [EDA] current band personnel Ok so TRL is on the calendar. :-) Anyway...does anyone know if her current bass player is Tony Hall? The same guy who played on the Spirit tour? I was looking in Chasing Down the Down at a pic of the whole band from that tour, and Tony looks an awful lot like the guy I saw on Leno, if it wasn't him. Can anyone verify this? Also, is Steve still on keyboards? Those 2 look similar as well. It's a little faster and a lot more solid as a whole.. The extra time is probably from the false start where she forgot the words.. The US one is definitely from Nashville because I know a lot of EDAs who hear themselves on there and remember the calling out of the first line.. =) <> scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 . I watched both leno and TRL and I gotta say she is doing GREAT!!! I must say her hair like that is extremely sexy! She looks totally HOT!!! She did an awesome job singing, though I like when she plays her guitar, i kinda wished she wouldn't have while preforming this song cause I wanted to see her dance. I LOVE when she dances and moves around while singing. IT IS GREAT!!! I think that IS steve on the keyboard. It looks SOOOO much like him, I think he just hasn't shaved in a while. The drummer seems cool and the other accoustic player too. But the bass and the electric guitar player really seem odd. I can't stand how that one bass player moves. It is rather distracting as one of you already pointed out. I must say that THIS WAY IS AWESOME!!! It is as simple as that. I can't believe how much I love it and how much it is selling! THe stores around here sold out ALREADY! THey have to reorder for next week! I think that is totally cool! My favorite song LYRICALLY is Jesus loves you, and CLEVELAND!! THey are awesome. OH and ENSS! THough the album is a lil country it will still be a HUGE hit! I THINK anyways! I went guitar shopping today, I want another guitar that's not too expensive, that sounds good and I can take everywhere and if something happens to it I won't die. I have a Taylor and it doesn't leave my house, 'cause it cost me too much, I sacrificed a lot to save for it and it's my most priced posession. Maybe in the future I could get a better Taylor and this one could be my 2nd guitar, but in the way things are going and the economy, don't see it near.. So , I played a bunch of the less expensive ones, Yamaha, Ibanez, Ovation (terrible) the Martin back pack.. and the guy told me to get a Baby.. they didn't have it..they're going to order it for me, but before I get it, I would like to get some suggestions..if anyone has any, pls let me know.... txs Uri ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2001 22:32:52 -0500 From: "Sandy" Subject: [EDA] Jewel playing guitar on album (MrBB?) /T-shirts So...my computer had to break, and then my internet not work, days before, the day of, days after the release of her album so I ended up with a GAZILLION emails from the list! Anyways, I had just a couple of comments to make: 1) The jewel not being "credited" on the album thing...I don't think she played guitar on the album....yeah, of course they didn't put that she played on the live tracks, they didn't put that *anyone* did... but we know other people were playing drums, bass etc. there....but they DID credit *other* people for playing on the studio recorded songs songs, and credited her with the lyrics ....my take on that is not that they didn't put it was her because she was the "main performer" as someone else said.... otherwise, they probably wouldn't have bothered putting any credits for it, my take is that maybe she didn't play on the album at all, and just chose to lay vocal tracks and let others do the music. Which I find slightly odd, but maybe she didn't want to added stress of having to re-do parts of the tracks over and over again to get them perfect.... I'm actually curious as to whether or not she actually did play on the record....maybe MrBB could help with that? and 2) I agree with everyone's comment's regarding the "loose" t-shirts...if I like a band/singer, and I buy one of their shirts, I buy it only as a 'pajama' shirt, because I never like the way they fit! I've seen some other people mentioning bands that did sell "girly" shirts, and just wanted to mention that Weezer does at their concerts (and on their website) as well....I was really happy to see them selling pink tank tops with Weezer written in glitter on them at their show here a few months ago, as well as baby dolls and girl sizes of the regular shirts....what p*ssed me off was that they were $35.... (Canadian...but still...)which is freakin' ridiculous....as well as the prices of the new Jewel shirts on the site....I think that's a little too pricy, and as much as I'd like one, I'm definately not going to spend $20 american on a 'pajama' shirt (yeah, I saw the babydoll...don't really like it) and I find it funny that the *majority* (not all) of the people who are going to purchase those Jewel shirts are girls, and they are those loose crappy shirts! Anyways, just my 2 cents....love the new CD, agree with everyone who didn't like the new begining to LMJLMA....I still think the song is great, but it certainly misses the "punch" with the way it starts out soft....that was one of my favourite things about it before....and there isn't enough drum sound too it, which took out the "punch" also... but it's still great, I was neither disappointed nor surprised....I like the in between POY & Spirit thing she has going, though I think it's still *slightly* too produced, especially in specific parts....but overall a major improvement over Spirit (mind you, I still liked Spirit, I just prefer her rawer sound like most do).... ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2001 12:49:46 -0500 From: casper31@juno.com Subject: [EDA] thank you credits Hello, I don't know if anyone mentioned this already, but does anyone else think it is a little weird that Jewel doesn't thank Steve Poltz on her new CD?
