[kevin maguire Subject: [EDA] SJC: help, computer trouble Ok, I found this site that has the tabs for "Sometimes it be that Way", the tabs are easy but it has all the lyrics and I want to learn it. Now, when I try to print it it's impossible, only a bunch of giberish comes out, I tried saving it and asks me what type of program should I use to open it, it's a PHP file. I have no clue, does anyone? the tab site is guitartabs.cc/home.php sorry , but my knowledge of computers is limited , but I try , hence my question, is PHP something used to code web sites so you can't print the pages? is there any way around it? I can't stare at the monitor forever, I want to print it. thanks for any help you can give me. luv Uri ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Nov 2001 07:28:24 +0000 From: "now and zen girl" Subject: [EDA] just a few jewel things... hey everyone! just a few little things id like to share. first off i saw jewel today on the pbr world cup championship tonight... she was there cheering on ty... tomorrow is the second night of the competition so im sure she will be there again. next... oh yeah i remember! i read that los angeles times review and i swear i dont know why but i was really hilarious... i mean anyone who says jewel cant sing is insane and deserves a good laugh... ive never heard anyone say she couldnt sing, ive talked to plenty of people who dont like jewel at all, but they all say "but, she sure can sing" or that she has a beautiful voice. this review was funny to me for some reason. gosh i knew i was gonna say something else... oh yeah! does anyone out there have a recording of jewels saratoga concert, it was last year, when she did that small theater tour. it was in saratoga california at the villa montalvo mountain winery on sept 27th.... anyway, i was at that concert and id really love to hear it again... i know i can watch it from jewels site, but id like it on cd. well i cant think of the other thing i was gonna say... oh well ill say it some other time i guess... Those are the same tracks that are on the website. We still do Paint It Black, Green House (one of the favorite original songs), and For What's It's Worth in our live performances (matter of fact, did all three this past Friday). I'll gladly send a copy of the demo to any EDA on the list interested. The only people on the CD that are still in the band are me and Steve (the rhythm guitar). Thanks for the compliment though. Any of you just send me a personal email and I'll hook you up with the demo CD. Or you can check out the website www.coilback.com . I saw it in the music section at Big W and nearly squealed coz it's not supposed to be out till tomorrow, but I wasnt about to complain so i bought it of course. Only problem was-I was away for the day and was gonna have to wait ALL day until I came home so I could listen to it! ARGH. What torture-I had it in my hand but couldn't listen to it. So there I was, walking around the shopping centre trying to hurry mum up so I could get home.... I went into HMV and just as I walked in Standing Still was coming on and I thought "cool, they're playing the single" so I hung in there till the song was over and started heading out thinking some other song would come on and "Jesus Loves You" came on. They were playing This Way! (obviously ;-) ) I ended up chatting to the guy who worked there bout it. He said they played it yesterday as well as a 'preview' and lots of people asked about it so that's good! Anyway....I've since had a listen to the c.d. a few times (it's on now!) and I love, love, love it! I didn't listen to any of the songs over the net coz wanted all the songs to be all new to me when I got it and even though I've heard all songs from the album except 'This Way' and 'I won't walk away' I was still very suprised with the way she's done most of the songs on the album. I was a tad disappointed about LMJLMA-I'm not too keen on the start of it, and the whole album has a bit of a country feel to it but overall it's FANTASTIC! My faves so far are: This Way- First time hearing it, and I just love it. The New Wild West- I'd only heard a live version before this... AndI'm still a sucker for Standing Still. Oh and Do you Want To Play is good too! What am talking about? It's all GOOD! I better go, I'm very excited and sounding pretty damn stupid. Hehe. Now i want to ask about her videos...once on tv or i saw on a computer website, a video of Jewel on a Friesian horse...i think it may have been with the song Foolish Games?? Another video of Jewel with doves, i believe this was a video with the song Hands?? Why do they not make these videos available for purchase??? I would love to have these videos for a xmas present for Ciara...she has her own Friesian colt which she named Clearwater (named after Jewels horse). She has never seen these videos of Jewel. From what i can remember, these videos were very good and i can't understand why they are not marketed. If anyone knows where i can buy these, please let me know. Im a reporter for the school paper- so heres what I have to say. First of all this is a feature story, meaning its not all that newsworthy, just interesting. Not Like USA nukes Afganistan- thats news. Beacuse this is a feature story- this is the opinion of one, i repeat one, person. It's the LA Times not the worlds most respected paper- if it was the Washington Post or the NY Times that would be different. Im do not support Jewel 100% shes great and wonderful, but has flaws just like everyone else- but a 1.5 out of 5.0???? This dude is tone deaf, Jewel's vocal quality alone should be enough to score her a 1.0 If he liked the lyrics to a song or two it should get at least a 2. So yeah this guy is way off base Does Stereotyping bother you guys???????????? I really like Steve and seans post. What I try to think about, is what if Jewel read all this. Sit back and read the post, some people are cool, some are super in depth, some are really innocent and genuine. Some are lame, jerks, obsessed, petty. So instead of arguing over whobs opinion is right (which they all are right in perspective) Speak your mind, but show respect for all. Would you say what you post to Jewels face? Put your self in her shoes. People fighting over the littlest stupidest things. Must be weird. Personally I love Jewel, her voice, her songs (most of them) her style/look. All her live stuff, her personality. But like Steve and Sean said, we need to not let sub par stuff happen. Need to challenge her. If her album sucks, then donbt buy it, and then she (or every artist) will be pushed to do better or get out of the game. Ok I think I said enough. Jewel canbt wait for This Way to come out.
