A Theatre tour is a tour where the venues are smaller theatres, as opposed to arenas. A theatre generally holds like 2000-5000 people as opposed to 15000 - - 30000, which is an arena. Seeing Jewel live would be a better experience in a smaller venue, because you get the intimacy... and she'd be better in a theatre as opposed to a club, because they have better acoustics. Although I was very impressed when I saw her at Jones Beach Amphitheatre on the Spirit Tour. That holds about 15000 and was pretty much full... she seemed to be very comfortable and held everyone's attention really well. I can't wait to see her in a smaller venue though.. and I REALLY hope she does it early 2002, because if it's over the summer I probably won't even be in North America, which would suck. Hey Jewel has definitely entered the Top 40, but in a position lower than 20... I don't know what that is.. probably the low 20's... probably next week she'll be in the Top 20. As far as the Billboard Hot 100... she's not QUITE there yet. There's a chart known as the Bubbling Under the Billboard chart... which ranks the 25 songs that are closest to debuting on the Hot 100. Jewel entered that chart at #11 this week... (the highest debut)... likely she'll debut on the actual Hot 100 next week. She has NOT released a commercial single in the US, and probably won't do so (she didn't with Hands). She's still eligible to be in the Billboard Hot 100, but just at a disadvantage because the Hot 100 is calculated through a combination of airplay and sales.. and Jewel is only relying on airplay. Anyway yeah.. she jumped from below 25 to 11 this week.. and her airplay increases aren't slowing down (particularly in the Hot AC category).. so chances are she'll see a debut in the Hot 100 next week. Hopefully.... Steve ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #472 ***************************
