It ws on a hit election, where two songs compete for an hour, to see what gets the most votes. They hadn't even played Jewel's songs yet, and people were calling in, voting for SMASH MOUTH! The dj said that there were so many guys calling in, cause they didn't want jewel to win, and there was this one guy who came on in the end who was like "i want to be the first guy to vote jewel" ROAR!!! Her song was sooOOOO much better! So anyways she lost by 90% on the phones and 88% on the internet voting. But she's still number one in my heart! And that's all that matters..AMEN Angelinfatuation ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Oct 2001 21:35:27 -0400 From: "Shannon Mackie" Subject: [EDA] Standing Still on the Radio - I finally did it! Okay so after straight calling my local radio station several times a week, I finally got them to play Jewel for me - not only did they play my voice reading out the title and artist, but it made #4 in the top 5 songs requested of the day (so I called more than once)! I hope people hear it and start requesting it so she'll be on the top 5 every day! I pretended like I wasn't sure if Jewel had a new song out, he told me that she did indeed and I asked if it was any good. He said, "well yeah I really like it a lot-- but I'm a Jewel fan at heart" I said, "well so am I!!!" : ) They played me on the radio a few songs before they played standing still-- it was pretty cool-- but that was the other day. Oh, after that part the DJ told me that he has heard a lot of other songs from her CD that comes out on november 13th and that he think the album "rocks"-- I was like, "that's awesome-- how did you get to hear that stuff?" and he said, "We get tons of that kind of stuff here to listen to" I guess I'm going into the wrong line of work!! - -- Chrissy "The Tarheel Angel" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Oct 2001 12:32:38 -0400 From: katherine732@juno.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Toys R Us I also heard it in Marshalls the other day. > -----Original Message----- > From: Jenjk128@aol.com > To: jewel@smoe.org > I was in Toys R Us tonight and they played Standing Still!!!!
