I think he played drums on the John Kurzweg produced version of Jesus Loves You. I have no idea if the song on the album will be this version, or a version produced by Dann Huff... but according to John Kurzweg's website John Freese played on a song he produced for Jewel, and according to Sonicnet, that song was Jesus Loves You. However, I have heard that two members of U2 (the edge on lead guitar and larry mullen on drums) and Flea (bass, obviously) play on Standing Still... I read that in a newsgroup.. still trying to find out where the source is. I'm sure the musicians are listed on the promo cd - if anybody has a copy of that they could confirm/deny this. Another thing of interest - This Way has been consistently breaking into the Top 100 at Amazon.com... It was averaging at around #350 up until the past week or so... right now it's at #92.. but I've seen it as low at #80. Very promising... Its like if Jewel does her hair a certain then everyone is "Oh my gosh, she's gone pop! I don't like her music anymore b/c she's going to be like Britney now!" I might be exaggerating in that, but overall that's the message that is coming across to ME, IN MY OPINION. I think we should wait to say anything and just let Jewel be Jewel, she's trying new things and still learning and progressing but it seems a lot are getting offended by it or whatever but I think some just need to chill! But its not poppy in a bad way (Britney Spears teeny bopper poppy). Its poppy is a good way. Its very radio friendly... more so than some of the songs released off Spirit. (I wish they played WSIT on the radio... that was one of the best songs released. The stations here played Jupiter once and WSIT once.... thats it) I prefer the whole girl w/ a guitar thing.... but having a band is cool... and remember, this isn't 1994 anymore. I really don't think Standing Still is any more Pop than Down So Long... I've been listening to a lot of Jewel songs lately, and I haven't heard one yet that I could see Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson singing.... That is more what I consider Pop, anyway... Regardless of if it is considered Pop or not, I still like it. Isn't that what counts, instead of fitting it into a category??
