Subject: [EDA] Life 360...well done. Thank goodness for good ole' T1 lines, being signed up for JewelLink, having a job that makes me work overtime occasionally, accidently looking in *next* week's TV guide (more on this later), and basically just lucking out. So I was at work, it's about 7:19pm, and I get the JewelLink letter notifying about the PBS show airing tonight, and this weekend, and the CNN show as well. Seeing that it didn't start till 10:00 eastern, I figured ok no problem, that's 9:00 here, Central. So I go home, it's about 7:45 at this time. I look through next weeks TV guide on accident thinking it was this weeks, trying to see if it was even listed, and at what time, and it did have it but showed it airing at 8:00. Again, I was reading the listing for NEXT Friday. So of course the description didn't mention Jewel anywhere but I figured well maybe they just didn't put everything in there. So thinking I'm reading the right TV guide, I turn on the TV around 8, and sure enough the show starts. They show a brief clip of Jewel in the intro so I knew it was the correct episode (I think this was the debut episode as well). It wasn't until after the show I realized I had looked in the wrong TV guide. Had I looked in this weeks, I wouldn't have found it listed (since it wasn't) and probably not even bothered watching PBS tonight. It had some other show listed for 8:00 tonight. Oddly enough, they plugged Life 360 asking viewers to watch during a show that came on from 9-10 tonight...AFTER it had already aired. Yeah, didn't make sense to me either. I just think all of their programming is screwed up. But anyway, all ended well at least. So those of you who were surprised, shocked to Jewel on PBS, didn't have a clue what you were watching, etc., I guess yall aren't signed up for JewelLink. So maybe now's the time to do so. It does have it's advantages I guess. :-) Albeit even I only knew about the show exactly 41 minutes before it aired here...and with a little research and a touch of luck tossed in. Ok, about the show...... It SUCKED. No, just kidding...haha. Actually some parts were a bit boring, but all in all it was well done. Typical of PBS I guess. Jewel's first segment wasn't until almost exactly have way into the show. She opened with Hands, solo acoustic, similar to how it was on Letterman, but I think a little better sounding. Maybe the room/stage acoustics were better or something. Then she was interviewed about 3-4 minutes. Nothing really new as far as topic, but it was alright. I figured that was it, but just kept watching anyway. About 10 minutes later she comes on again, this time singing Break Me. That alone is worth watching the show. This is only the second time I've heard the song since I saw her play it live for the first time in Ausin February a year ago. It's a really great song, and can't remember if it made the new CD or not, but if it didn't, that's a shame. I guess there's hope for a b-side though on one of those foreign single releases. That was it for the Jewel portion. So it was about 10 minutes total footage out of the hour long show. Those who missed it (I'm guessing now upwards of 95% of the list) can hopefully catch it sometime over the weekend. Good luck trying to figure out PBS' TV listings. They're never right it seems. I guess if you watch PBS 24/7 through Midnight Sunday you're liable to catch it a time or two. :-) As for the Larry King show, there was a typo I noticed in the JewelLink letter from Alan. He stated it was coming on Sunday the 6th. Actually Sunday is the 7th. There IS a Larry King show on tomorrow night as well, but it's not his "weekend edition". That's the one that it was stated Jewel would be on. Might not be a bad idea just to watch tomorrow night anyway though. :-) Anyhow...it was a pretty good show. About the only thing I didn't like was that they didn't show more of Jewel's performance, but I guess that would be another show then. The production reminded me of things like MTV Unplugged, VH1 Storytellers, Sessions, and Austin City Limits. Along the lines of those shows...but much less Jewel time. 2 more days and I get to see (and hopefully meet) Michelle Branch!!! woohoo! Anyone who has anything negative to say about her, just watch her videopromo clip on her official website and you might change your opinion. It's great!
