Hey Angels, Jewel's coming to New Zealand!! (I was soooo tempted to add "na nah na nah na nah!" there... but ya know - i'm 21, i'm far too old for that ;) ) If she only goes to Auckland, well, that'll just really rip my undies .... but seeing as how her Spirit World Tour included both Wellington and Christchurch as well as Auckland, i'm still hopeful. This is so exciting for me, last time i saw her at the Wellington concert in '99 - i knew hardly anything about Jewel or her music, i had only just bought "Spirit" 4 days before the concert. Now, i'm far better educated... wow, this is gonna be great. There might be only TWO remaining EDAs here - me (wellington) and Petrina (Auckland). (there was another two, but Nick (formerly wellington) left us to go to Aussie and Kim - well i haven't heard from Kim (Christchurch) in quite some time... but he may be still around somewhere). Anyway - the point being - that i'll do my part to get as many radio interviews etc recorded as i can ... and give you all some reviews (or transcripts if i have the time). Also, i'll be able to buy a few singles of "Standing Still" for people, providing you send me the return postage and money or a trade for the single. (note, the NZ dollar is even WORSE than the Aussie one... so it'll be pretty cheap for you guys) I know i'll probably get flooded with requests, but i'll do the best i can. Petrina, Kim (if you're out there) - wanna help me? Maybe i can even badger a few of my friends to pitch in. Perhaps the NZ, OZ and Japan edas can set up some kind of treeing system or something. I have been talking with a friend who works for Atlantic, and although he say's not to take his word as gospel, he seems to reckon that no European release date for 'This Way' has been given because they want to see how well the US & Japan releases go before committing to anything. If all goes really well (which I hope it doe's) he reckons it will probably be released in the first quarter of 2002 when her promotional duties have calmed down over there and she has the chance to come over and give some time to promoting it.......... which all sounded reasonable to me! Also I just thought I'd let you all you other UK fans know (if Chris doesn't beat me to it!!!) that amazon.co.uk are now listing 'This Way' so you can buy it from them. They are the only UK company I know of so far listing it, but I'm sure if there are others you will let me know. It's hidden away a bit at the moment, but if you do a search for 'Jewel' on the main page, in the list of results you get it's somewhere near the bottom (number 10 I think !!) and is listed without a picture. I am proposing to organise/cooordinate a compilation video of Jewel's appearances on TV in Australia and New Zealand, as I did in 1998. The idea is that everyone in Australia and New Zealand (EDAs, that is) tapes what they can and then they send me the tapes and I'll put them together and send a copy of the complete tape to everyone who contributed and to anyone else who'd like a copy. I'll be taping everything I can but I don't have pay TV and there were some good interviews on pay TV last time; and I hope NZ EDAs will tape things too, as there were some really good interviews in NZ last time. Also.. I was listening to the radio all day and heard Standing Still three times. Then the station was talking about Jewel-- about how she came to Kansas City over the summer for Red White and Boom. She said that her favorite place to shop ANYWHERE was here in Kansas City, on the Country Club Plaza. We have great shops in a Venice-esque atmosphere. It's great and I LOVE going down there. I'm glad she does as well.
