And you're wondering what for? Well, I don't post much, not because I don't have anything to say. But mostly I'm too tired. I have end stage liver disease (no I never drank) and Cystic Fibrosis. I just read your uplifting posts about a singer with an encouraging message. I have always respected Jewel in that way, especially when there is so much music out there full of doom, gloom and despair. Except I'm not too thrilled when y'all obsess about Jewels weight and TY. :) So I hope everyone continues on a positive note. Yours truly - The Tigger angel that hopes to bounce again. I have a niece and she's only 2 yrs old, she loves to dance and sing, all my gifts to her are musical, little toy pianos, little guitars, tambourines... I'm trying for her to find out where the music that she likes so much comes from, I took my guitar one day and played for her and she looked at me with a big smile on her face and immediately put her little tiny fingers on the fret board trying to imitate what I was doing. It's great that parents recognize and encurage music learning on their kids, it makes them happier, smarter and it's great with math since notes and beats are divided , counted and measured. Piano is the best to start teaching children , since strings are very hard on the fingers and the piano keys are there already , you just have to press them and with tiny keyboards that are soft and size friendly makes it a lot better. since i was 5 my mom had me in guitar lessons and being the brat the I was I didn't want to go 'cause it hurt my fingers, then violin, the same, and then piano, but back then there were no keyboards so they would sit me in this baby grand and I liked it , but they keys were to big and I couldn't push them hard enough to make them sound..my mom gave up and so did I...she never encouraged me again so I grew up without learning , now after all these years and as an adult I took on the guitar again and it's great.., but the fingers still hurt :) keep it up and I really wish that she gets to meet Jewel some day soon. And I promise to never ever write to this list with bad words :) luv Uri . . ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Oct 2001 11:21:11 EDT From: IanDJones@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Standing Still/This Way Hey guys, Just caught most of the video for Standing Still... It's slightly poppy, but it's kinda poppy in the way that LMJLMA is. (Not necessarily a bad thing.)< /opinion> Now I definitely can't wait for This Way. The thing that bugs me is its release date is between my birthday (which is not this Sunday, but the next,) and Christmas... It'd make a great present either way, but I'd prefer it for my birthday. You have touched my heart. Ciara really is not all that good a writer...it took her along time to post her message and most of the words i had to tell her how to spell them, one letter at a time. I really want you to know i hold no ill feelings against you for what you said. You must have a heart of gold to come back and give an apology like that. Good luck to you and your students! Thank you so very much! Sincerely, Sheila. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Oct 2001 13:25:33 -0400 From: "Sheila56" Subject: [EDA] Ciara age 7 I really do not have the words to thank you all for the kind words about Ciara's posting. Let me just say it has been "uplifting." Now Kristin has come on and given an apology...she should be commended for that. I know that i have said things that i really didn't mean or spoke to soon too. I want to thank Bethy for her beautiful words of encouragement and Ciara will read it when she gets home from school today. Also, thanks to Pablo for the Jewel picture...Ciara will love it! Uri, how lucky your niece to have you to give her all the music gifts...buy her a cazoo too! Good luck to her and you! Joe, thanks for telling me about Mensa, i will check into it and to answer your question about Ciara's name, well i got it from an Avon perfume. I don't know if they still market it but i remember when i used to buy it...about 20 years ago! It is a beautiful day here in Michigan...i am heading outside with my 4 year old little boy (Michael) to collect some lady bugs...they are everywhere out there. Have a great day everyone! This temporary template information contained an incorrect album tracklist and release date which then began circulating everywhere on the web. Rest assured that the domestic release date (November 13th) has not changed and our JeweLink members will be the first people to receive the accurate tracklist. We realize that everyone is patiently waiting for this and your patience is appreciated. We can tell you that in addition to the studio recordings co-produced by Jewel and Dann Huff in Nashville, the new album will also contain a few bonus solo acoustic live recordings. These live recordings may differ in various areas of the world and we'll let all you collectors know more as plans finalize. Also, of particular interest to JeweLink members and computer users in general, is that "This Way" will be an enhanced CD containing a video of an alternate studio version of one of the album tracks. More album details in the next few weeks. ******************************************** ***STANDING STILL: INTERNATIONAL SINGLE RELEASES The first radio single, "Standing Still," is now receiving airplay on many radio stations and the new video is beginning to play on MTV and VH1. While there are no current plans to release this single commercially here in the United States, there will be several international single releases that are of interest. On October 22nd, Australia and New Zealand will commercially release "Standing Still" as a single, followed by a Japan release two days later, on October 24th. These singles will also contain two bonus tracks; "A Long Slow Slide" and "Stephenville, Texas," both recorded live. We'll have more information for you soon, but Jewel will also be visiting Australia, New Zealand and Japan in coming weeks to promote the new single. Visit the www.jeweljk.com calendar for additional info as it becomes known. In the meantime, we welcome you calling your favorite radio stations to request Jewel's new single. ******************************************** ***JEWEL: A LIFE UNCOMMON DVD RELEASE DETAILS As we mentioned previously, the video documentary covering the first seven years of Jewel's career, "Jewel: A Life Uncommon," has been remastered for release on DVD and re-release on VHS. This intimate video portrait traces Jewel's early start in the coffee houses of San Diego up through the Spirit World Tour of 1999 and contains live performances, behind-the-scenes footage, as well as interviews with family, friends and those closest to Jewel. Several notable improvements have been made to this new addition. In the original edition, during the 1999 concert footage, we were originally going for a feel of "being in the audience" and we utilized audio recordings of the room itself to achieve this goal. While this worked quite well, for the new addition, MrBB has taken the original room recordings and blended them with the soundboard direct masters, achieving the original feel of being there, with new clarity and depth to Jewel's vocals and the instrumentation. This new audio was utilized on all the 1999 concert footage. Also, three new tracks have been added to the new addition. What's Simple is True, Down So Long and Who Will Save Your Soul, all recorded live with the Spirit Tour Band at an HGH benefit in Los Angeles on April 25, 1999, have been added as bonus tracks. The release date is scheduled to coincide with the release of Jewel's next album on November 13th, 2001 and JMerch will have it available. ******************************************** ***JEWEL WEBSITE NEWS A few items of interest at www.jeweljk.com this week: This week, we've included some particularly nice outtake shots from memorable Jewel photo shoots on our photo page. Maybe Jewel doesn't want to remind herself of the fact that she's been a massive failure in Europe. In fact Jewel must hold the record for being the least successful North American female singer in Europe. Oh my god, I'm sorry, but michiel, can you please just chill out for once? jeez....you jump up and down complaining everytime something is announced about jewel that might not include Europe *as of that time*.... > I have to admit that is not good that JEWEL IS not coming to EUROPE!!! and where exactly did you get that info? nothing on there said that Jewel *wasn't* going to Europe....it just mentioned where she WOULD be in the near future....she can only go to one place at a time, for all you know, she's planning on stopping there after Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, and Mr.BB just hasn't confirmed it yet, or doesn't want to throw too much information out at once....so just chill out and wait to actually HEAR things before you jump to conclusions. > Also > in this part of the world there are many fans of JEWEL!!! Why are we > rejected for release ????? We want to hear the single on radio as well or on > THE TV!!!!!!! Actually, there aren't that many European fans of Jewel - yes, there may seem to be a lot, but not in comparison to the US etc. where there are is a high density of fans. Besides, as has been said *many* times before...she lives in the US, so yeah, more stuff is going to happen there. Deal with it. Just like PJ Harvey or Radiohead are going to play in Britain more often than the US, or appear on TV more often there.... it's not that you're being neglected or *rejected*.... and once again, NO WHERE on the Jewelink did it say that *standing still wasn't going to be released in Europe*....again, don't ASSUME that....the only place they did say wasn't going to get it was the US, and you don't see 1,000 posts from people residing in the US complaining that they are being rejected by jewel.... > > PLEASE PLEASE Jewel come pay us a visit, we also need your time and > attention!!!!!!!!! Once again, she can only be at one place at one time...she's not super woman....give her a break already. Like I said, *sigh*, it never said she *wasn't* going to be in Europe.... in fact, I happen to remember a Jewelink or some other article about Jewel being posted saying she would most likely be touring in Europe in early 2002... all I ask is *PLEASE* get your facts straight and don't just assume things before you start posting your rants. ~ Sandy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #448 ***************************
