Who sings that song from the newer AOL commercials that goes "All I need..." Those are the only 3 words I know but I heard the full song on the radio and it's pretty good.. It's a teenage girl.. The song is actually funkier and more diverse than I'd expect from just hearing that snippet on the AOL commercials.. Also, I was just thinking about the studio version of Love Me Just Leave Me Alone.. Do you all think she'll let it rip vocally? It would be awesome if we got some of those Janis Joplin vocals we got to hear live and during VH1 Storytellers.. Whoo, that "why couldn't you do the same?" could give me chills on the studio version if she nails it like she did on that show.. Seeing how a question like this comes up every once in a while, THE key website to get an answer is http://www.adcritic.com and then either click on the Music tab, or "latest ads" or "ad archive". It pretty much has all sorts of info on every commercial that isn't strictly local, including who's singing any jingles/songs. I mean, there is a lot of merit in that, but I think I would enjoy it more if it were actually acted out. (Sorry, I was a drama major) Just curious. Hello Jewelfans, I have listened and listened to the new song standing still over and over again and i have to tell you this is the best song Jewel ever wrote and performed. The version you can download at rtsp://216.54.215.30:554/allaccess/jewelsta.rm promis we that Jewel is completely back on her TOP of her talents. The song is just awesome, great instruments. Great tempo, fantastic lyrics. It makes me want to play this song every day from DUSK till DAWN. I can4t wait until the video comes available from this beautiful song.... STANDING STILL STANDING STILL is great, the best song Jewel ever recorded till this date. Without any doubt, i guess this will come high in the billboard charts! Take care, michiel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Sep 2001 09:44:14 EDT From: NEW24PHILLY@aol.com Subject: [EDA] question.........woodstock and spirit Hey guys, I was curious to know if anyone had a VHS video of jewel's performance at woodstock, and if so, if there is anyway I can get a copy of it. I am willing to compensate by sending money prior or however you do it, also any video's of her spirit tour. If anyone can help me out, that would be awesome. take care guys- Jake the HIV + angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Sep 2001 09:28:00 -0700 (PDT) From: Kris Tetzlaff Subject: [EDA] standing still...not impressed I'm not sure what everyone is raving about. I've listened to both live and cd versions of Jewel's new single, "Standing Still", and I'm disappointed big time. It's overproduced to the point that the lyrics (which are mediocre for Jewel) lose their meaning...not as bad as the Jupiter remix...It's comparable to that newer song "Everything" that dark-haired chick who pretends to play the guitar sings. I dunno, this song doesn't seem as "timeless" as the songs on her other 3 albums. A year from now no one is going to want to listen to it anymore. I guess the upside is that it's radio ready. Hope this album does well cos, in my opinion, it's a big departure from where she began. I guess I'm waiting for her to release a POY 2. Subject: [EDA] ...that dark-haired chick That dark-haired chick is the talented Michelle Branch, who really DOES know how to play the guitar, and writes all her own lyrics. And that song you mentioned, "Everything" is really called "Everywhere". For anyone who wants to hear a much less produced CD from Michelle, I highly recommend going to one of her official websites and ordering "Broken Bracelet" from it. Incidently, the title of that CD came from a conversation Michelle and Steve Poltz had before....and Michelle is also a fan of Jewel's. So, there's the Jewel-connection...hehe. Michelle is really good, and while her first mlajor label CD does sound a bit on the "produced" side, it's still really good, and not produced to the point where it sounds like something by a boy band, or similar styles of producing. Some songs are very edgy, and have lots of guitar driven verses. It's alot more rock than pop I think. Think about songs like Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, and Down, for example. Anyway, Kris, YOU are an example of those I spoke of before who post things without having their facts straight. If you're just having a bad day, then that's fine, but don't start talking about things as if you know what you're talking about, when you really don't. > ---------- > From: Kris Tetzlaff[SMTP:WoooX2kid@excite.com] > Sent: Monday, September 24, 2001 11:28 AM > To: jewel@smoe.org > Subject: [EDA] standing still...not impressed > > I'm not sure what everyone is raving about. Britney Spears lip syncs in concerts... and Michelle Branch "strum syncs" when she plays live. Uh huh.... sure. Michelle Branch is way talented. Her CD is overproduced, but that doesn't take away from her raw talent. And I don't mean to disrespect Jewel in any way, but Michelle's songs at 18 are alot better than most of Jewel's songs at that age. It is actually about Jewel, I wrote it during a low point in my life and once i began listening to her, my life changed "Angel of Song" Hopelessness has found me huddled in a corner. My eyes are like black clouds Its been raining for days. My value is drowning with the storm Stricken with the doubts of reasons to continue. Grieving from the depths of a pain so massive I am bolted to the floor until I hear a soothing voice. My despair becomes translucent as she sings through me. I listen to her words feeling warm from the melody. Breathing in reassurance that is implied between the lines. Heartfelt messages brings a calmness that holds me. The rhythm echoes peacefulness inside my skin. I then realized that the rain had passed from the corner of my bedroom. Angelic sounds strengthen my belief for hope. I was able to pull myself from the floor and stand on my feet again. - - Kelli Coppens - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Sep 2001 18:44:01 -0400 From: MrBB Subject: [EDA] Life Uncommon Re-release & Standing Still Video Hi All, A quick answer to most of the EDAs writing us: Yes, by popular demand, the "Jewel :A Life Uncommon" home video has been remastered for re-release on DVD and VHS and it'll be out the same day (Nov. 13th) as Jewel's new album.
