I saw chicago skyscapes, las vegas and others. Some shirts had cats w/sequins and such. I did not buy one...did not know if i would feel right wearing something that has truely been destroyed. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Sep 2001 16:42:44 EDT From: Fabsurfgrl@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] WTC - T-shirts Don't take this as a flame, or an act of disregard for those of us that have lost someone as of recent, but it is imperative that business try to resume and bring money into the economy. This means not pulling your stocks out, continuance of big deals by major corporations, and yes, selling of T-shirts and memoriabilia about this terror is one of the best ways to fuel the economy. Buy a car, buy a house, buy some stock....support the economy. A recession is the last thing we need at this time. Howdy ya'll, First, one question for Mike...is HGH gonna try to help in the relief efforts in any way? I haven't heard anything. I'm very glad that none of the EDA's have been included in those missing in NYC or at the Pentagon. My heart, however goes out to those who knew any of the victims of this tragedy. Now, on to the point... My mother sent this link to me...I suggest ya'll check it out. http://lolfun.com/america/i_wish.cfm Also, stop bickering about whether this is a war, and about the Jewel concern flaming, and the newest issue with Joe and Matrix EDA. Ya'll just let it go, or better yet, go give blood. If I could, I would give as much blood as I could...being a person that smokes weed, I can't give blood, even if I took detox. I feel like shit, being in a position where going to help at the Pentagon or WTC would be simply inconvenient (I don't have the money). I feel like if I really wanted to help, I could hitch-hike up north to help in any way. I feel extremely guilty that I have been going about my life as though this hadn't happened. This is why I am planning on joining the military as soon as I can afford some Detox to get the weed outta my body. I want to make a difference. God bless ya'll, keep yer heads low in the cities...I have a feeling this ain't over. I want to make a difference. Okay, this may seem like a silly part to reply to given anything, but we eventually have to talk about others things, and those discussions are going stem from something said in relation. Lee - why would you need to pay to detox from weed? in fact, I've never even heard such thing as a "detox from weed"... it's not like there is something they can give you, and it's not like it's heroin and you are physically addicted. If you are talking about those lame products they sell in magazines for "magical potions"...that shit doesn't work anyways in most cases....and is pointless if you don't need to get rid of the "evidence" in your body in a very short period of time for a sudden drug test. Just don't smoke it for a month of so, and all traces of it will be out of your body. ~<3~ Sandy - - lavender haunted you, so I could only laugh in yellow - jewel - ..... http://www.envy.nu/angeloflove ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Sep 2001 17:26:52 EDT From: Cember76@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] WTC - T-shirts I saw those shirts there about a month ago and I don't think they are cashing in on this tragedy. Donations/Mandy Hello to all, I have just found out the address to make donations to the Widows & Children's Fund (of the FDNY, for familes of fallen firefighters). Widows & Children's Fund c/o Uniformed Firefighter's Associaion 204 East 23rd St. New York, NY 10010 phone: 212-683-4382 And also I wanted to make a comment to Mandy. I was planning on letting it go, but what you said (about not caring if he donated blood, etc.). has kind of been haunting me. I think that possibly you misunderstood the message (I believe it was from a girl named Abby). So instead of jumping at you, Mandy, in anger, I thought I'd take a moment to try to clarify her post, which may help you understand. Forgive me if this sound patronizing, but if indeed it was a misunderstanding, it's important to clear things up. Abby (I think that's her name) lives in Israel. Israel is an ally of the United States. It is on our side! On Tuesday its newly elected leader made a speech declaring it a day of mourning in support of the U.S, and also offered any and all support that the country could give. Now, in her post, Abby mentioned that the leaders of Israel had donated blood. While this is only a few people, as we know every bit helps, and the symbolic message of support that this donation of blood imparted was significant. She also mentioned that all the citizens of Israel are grieving along with us, and have sorrow for our loss. She then added a parenthetical aside mentioning that there was a small group of Palestinians who did not feel the same, and expressed that our attention not focus on that but on the support of the Israelis. See, the Palestinians and Israelis have been fighting for a very long time. So just because a small group of Palestinians are rejoicing, does not at all mean that all people in that area, particularly Israelis, agree with them. And as an aside, Israel is not the country that is harboring Osama bin Laden, the Saudi refugee who is a suspect in the recent attacks. That country is Afghanistan. I hope this helps clear things up. It is important that the leaders of Israel, our ally, gave blood. This is a symbolic act which carries a lot of weight. We should, as a country, care deeply that other countries are in support of us. Now is a time to unite against terror. And the more people on our side, the better. I was very civil, and it was a valid question. I did not outright accuse JC Penny of doing anything, I ASKED, and I was clear that I was expressing my opinion ONLY IF that was the case....and if that WAS the case, that it was a valid thing for me to do, and entirely not in bad case expressing my distaste for something like that. She didn't specify which city it was in that she saw the shirts, and it hadn't occured to me, unfortunately, that they might have just been 'touristy' shirts that had been on sale before this ever happened. I sort of just assumed from the what she said that the shirts were a new thing, and that's what caught her attention. Sorry about that....but I'm not sorry for the post, and I don't think in anyway my questioning of that was in bad taste, regardless of how some people react, causing me to believe they respond more to certain words rather than taking in everything that's said - it was very apparent I was outright accusing them, and that it was only my opinion.
