I have read all the good and bad posts along with the arguements of Jewel being alright and war/not war being declared. On the discussion of the Jewel and war issues, I have to agree with what Mike said. I don't want to get in the middle of everything so thats all I'm going to say about that. Right now I'm watching the news with the destruction left behind by the fall of the towers, and I am in complete disbelief. I cannot imagine all those people in any of the 3 areas dying just because of whatever the reason is. I truly do wish that I could help and give blood, but unfortunately I am too thin to be able to. I have pretty much watched the news all day since around 10:30 this morning even on MTV and VH1. At times I just think of this as an extremely bad dream that none of us can wake up from, and other times I just feel like crying. I'm going to go now, but keep in mind that I am going to pray for each and every one of you and all of the victims. There is not much to say other than what has already been stated and argued, but I do have a prayer for those to offer those in our nation as well as those outside it. As a student, this is the first war-type situation our generation has faced. The attitude on my college campus today was one of numbness and pain but mostly disbelief. Our world is working toward becoming a global village, uniting as HUMAN BEINGS and not just Americans or residents of a certain country. Maybe this tragedy will expose those not working toward that goal (the terrorists) so they can be dealt with now rather than later. My prayer tonight is a plea to unite throughout the world, as friends, as PEOPLE. I offer a poem: suicide screams twinkling, falling, star into bomb not inhabiting the skyline but erasing it like a great epiphany half-truth, half-body, limbs splayed into a sign of the times such a clichi, they're taking our lives with our own planes, killing our moms and celebrating our pains but THEY are who WE are love is who we are one god for one people, united by amnesia and separation of location, we divide into many hide your eyes as you bleed your enemy at your feet is your mother's brother, your uncle, your tie left to die on New York city streets, shoot the target in the air (same as the one in the mirror) as the asphalt absorbs our suicide screams _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Sep 2001 00:59:32 -0400 From: "Sandy" Subject: Re: [EDA] Re: USA under attack I'm not going to reply to most of this, since we were told to stop, and a lot of it deals with what we were told to stop doing. > These are the countries that provide much of > our fuel. Fighting with them would jepardize our fuel import, therefore > causing prices to go up. Afghanistan, as far as I know, is not a fuel source. Therefore, your fuel is not in jeopardy. You know what caused the gas prices to go up? The people running the gas stations who are free to charge what they like. They prayed on the fact that people are freaking out and assuming things, and charged ridiculous amounts knowing those people would buy it. I live in Canada, and being an allie, it would jeopardize our fuel too....funny thing is, it hasn't changed in price at all. > > > > > You've got guys shooting themselves in the knee cap to keep from being > drafted. > > > I don't know where you got that info. I didn't get that info. Re-read what I wrote. I said that was the kind of problem that PANIC causes when people say things they aren't true and other people take them literally and believe them. I never claimed this *had* happened. ~<3~ Sandy - - lavender haunted you, so I could only laugh in yellow - jewel - ..... http://www.envy.nu/angeloflove ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Sep 2001 05:04:21 +0000 From: "Rebecca Smith" Subject: [EDA] NJC: Support for our military Hello to all, I'm emerging from 'lurk' status for a bit. I would like to extend sympathy to everyone who is a victim of today's attacks, and their families. I am praying for you all. I would also encourage everyone not to forget the people who are doing their job to protect our country and help with the current damage. As some of you know, I live a couple of minutes away from a very large Marine Corps base. I have a very good friend who is leaving tomorrow to get on ship to go to NY. There are several ships being deployed to NY, apparently for security reasons and also probably to help with the rescue effort (from what I have been told). I have several friends (and a couple relatives) literally all over the world who I'm waiting to hear from, and many of my girl friends are extremely concerned about their significant others, some of whom were already deployed and cannot be reached at this time. No matter how you feel about the military in general, I think now is a time to support those who will be called to duty (or have higher demands put on them) in this time of crisis. Keep them and their families in your hearts and prayers, along with the other victims and people (such as police, firefighters, medical personnel, and volunteers) who are working their hardest. They are doing their jobs, and all the people I know joined up to help defend the freedom we hold so dear. I never really thought I would see myself giving a patriotic speech, but there you go. Please pray for the members of our armed forces. Thank you. And to all service members who may read this, thank you for being there, and stay strong. We love you!
