I really enjoy all her new lyrics. The songs i heard over and over again Everybody need somebody sometime, Standing still (should really be a great song, not to sure if it will be a big hit because it is an excellent song but not a very hot radio airplay song) But i like the change of Jewel musically and it is good to see that she tries different styles with different instruments, and all of those kind of changes. I look forward to the record THIS WAY. It should be released quite soon. Greetings, Michiel Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Yahoo! (poetry, songs ect) and then there is always Emily and Jessica.. (but that was kind of special cercumstance (i cant spell today) and Foolish games is just a melancholy version of I Dont Care... I'm thinking that you're talking about the AOL Messenger, so here ya go: On the menu bar in the messenger click on "People" and then "Select Buddy Icon". Scroll down until you see 2 short lists in blue and click on "Music Artists". You will see some, but not all the icons available, but scroll down and click on "More Icons". You will then see a lot of icons, and if you don't know what to do from there then you can read the instructions at the bottom. There's only one Jewel icon, but I think that is good enough for ya isn't it. Its the picture on the cover of her Spirit album and then it says "Jewel" for a second or two. It flashes back and forth between the two. Well, good luck on finding it. Hey look, if you go to Billboard.com (the specific URL is http://www.billboard.com/billboard/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id= 1054614 ), they have a new article up about This Way with (finally!) some new information.. There is a new bad-ass pic, and release dates (single THIS WEEK!).. Check it out below or at the link.. =) Jewel's 'This Way' Due Nov. 13 As tipped here last month, Jewel will on Nov. 13 release her fourth Atlantic album, "This Way." First single "Standing Still" is being shipped to U.S. radio outlets this week, with a video clip directed by Darren Grant (Craig David) due to premiere later this month. "This Way" was produced by Jewel with Dann Huff, known for his work with an array of artists such as Faith Hill and Megadeth. The set is Jewel's first album of all original material since 1998's "Spirit," which debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 3.5 million copies in the U.S. to date, according to SoundScan. "I wanted to focus on the craft of performing and songwriting," Jewel said in a statement. "I've always been a live musician, and I wanted my voice to shine through. At the same time, I hope to stay relevant as a writer, which means staying honest about where you are. The most important thing to me is maintaining my authenticity. I'll always be curious musically and want to try new things, but above all, I want the music to sound honest and good in 20 years." The album will be released Oct. 31 in Japan, Nov. 12 in Europe, and the following day in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. No official tour has yet been announced in support of "This Way," but Jewel does have a handful of appearances lined up. On Sept. 22, she will play alongside Alanis Morissette, Barenaked Ladies, and Shelby Lynne, among others, at Mixfest 2001 in Foxboro, Mass. She is also confirmed to play a concert celebrating the New York Civil Liberties Union on Nov. 14 at the city's Irving Plaza. - -- Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 . Well, that is no longer merely a rumour. The Atlantic Records Website (www.atlantic-records.com) have posted their official announcement for the album! They essentially confirm all the details given in the articles on Billboard and Jam! Music. The video for Standing Still is being directed by Darren Grant (Destiny's Child and Craig David). They also have a nice large version of the photo given at Billboard, and it's a very cool shot, and probably an indication of the kind of photography that we'll see in the album booklet. Another thing the article mentions is Jewel's total worldwide sales, which they state as being 23 million albums. This has been something discussed a lot on the list. So to put that into perspective - she's sold 16 million albums in the US (POY - 11; Spirit - 4; Joy - 1)... which makes her international total sales at approximatley 7 million. Not bad. Here's the article: JEWEL: THIS WAY NEW ALBUM DUE NOVEMBER 13TH - FIRST SINGLE, "STANDING STILL" Sep 10 2001 ATLANTIC Records has announced that the eagerly awaited fourth album from Jewel, entitled THIS WAY, will be released by the label on November 13th. THIS WAY is Jewel's first album since the 1999 release of JOY: A HOLIDAY COLLECTION, and marks her first album of all-new, self-penned material since 1998's SPIRIT. The album's first single, "Standing Still," with lyrics by Jewel and music by Jewel and Rick Nowles, is set to ship to radio outlets nationwide this week. The companion video clip, directed by Darren Grant (Destiny's Child), is slated to make its premiere later this month. Recorded in Nashville, THIS WAY was produced by Dann Huff and Jewel, marking her first work as a producer. One of the top guitarists in the business, Huff has become a much in-demand producer in recent years, with a diverse list of credits ranging from Megadeth to Faith Hill. "I wanted to focus on the craft of performing and songwriting," says Jewel. "I've always been a live musician, and I wanted my voice to shine through. At the same time, I hope to stay relevant as a writer, which means staying honest about where you are. The most important thing to me is maintaining my authenticity. I'll always be curious musically and want to try new things, but above all, I want the music to sound honest and good in 20 years." Jewel's three previous albums - PIECES OF YOU (1995), SPIRIT (1998), and JOY: A HOLIDAY COLLECTION (1999) - have together sold over 23 million copies worldwide. PIECES OF YOU earned the prestigious Diamond Award from the RIAA for U.S. sales of 10 million units, and has passed the 11 million mark in America alone. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 17:30:12 EDT From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel article - new details! Hey guys Well! It seems that Jewel's single will be out earlier than we expected. As Scott has posted, Billboard reported that the single is being shipped to radio this week and the video will be out within the month. Also, Jam! Music has posted a similar article with similar information. Now I know that people on the internet tend to take things from the list and from unreliable sources and turn them into news, but both Billboard (basically the official magazine for music news) and Jam! Music are very reputable sources. If something is a rumour, more often than not Jam! Music will indicate that it's a rumour... and generally their news is reliable (ie: they new about Bjork's Toronto concert before even her website had it listed). So, this seems legitimate. This is the article from Jam: Jewel's New Album Due in November: Folksy pop singer Jewel is returning to the music world. The singer and sometimes actress will release "This Way", her first album since the Christmas recording "Joy: A Holiday Collection", on Nov. 13. The first single will be "Standing Still", which will hit radio this week. A video is expected later this month. "This Way" is the first time Jewel has produced herself. "I wanted to focus on the craft of performing and songwriting," she said in a press release. "I've always been a live musician, and I wanted my voice to shine through. At the same time, I hope to stay relevant as a writer, which means staying honest about where you are. The most important thing to me is maintaining my authenticity. I'll always be curious musically and want to try new things, but above all, I want the music to sound honest and good in 20 years." you should all check out billboard's website (www.billboard.com). They have a brand new picture of Jewel that looks to me to be a publicity shot for the new album. It's basically a picture that I haven't seen before, nor have I seen any similar (ie: that seem to be from the same photoshoot). It's a nice picture.
