["billy streeter" ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 7 Sep 2001 02:56:23 -0400 From: "Antonio Miquilena" Subject: [EDA] New Songs & MTV VMA's & Request I've just finished listening "Standing Still", and I have to say it has to be one of my faves from her, her voice it's excellent...more profound and mature (it's been a while since I've listened something new from her, I thank Scott for giving me the chance to do so)...I just look forward the release of the new album, of course, I can't wait...but I guess we have no other choice. I saw her tonight at the VMA (thanks MTVLA), and I just saw her looking amazing...the simple but nice way she dressed, the way she talked and she just looks so happy ? Doesn't she ? I mean, I haven't seen her live, nor in Television recently (she doesn't get too much air time here, and we don't have the cool channels like PBS, or MuchMusic)...I just saw her radiant, it seems everything it's working great for her. Bless it be. I also wanted to request (for the 1542542156425421th time) a caring and loving person who would do me a favor I won't be able to pay in a lifetime. I want some recent angelfood (concerts) of Jewel -fair quality-, where she sings some new songs, violet eyes, jesus love me, standing still and so on...if anyone have some 2000/2001 Full length angelfood, I WILL really appreciate it...I only have some angelfood from her 95-98 work, so it will rock to have new one. I can pay for shipping and the media (Blank-CD), plus any other fee people may need. I just really want some new material from her, here In Venezuela IT'S HARD, and believe me HARD to find other fans from her...let alone angelfood. PLEASE, contact me through my email...so we can start a trade or something, I know people have a life, and don't have time at all...but it would really mean A LOT to me, and out of 1000+ EDA's there must be someone willing to help me, at least I hope so. Sorry the msg it's too long...heheh...I'm just happy about seeing her on the MTV (Reason that leaded me to ask again for some new angelfood) Hope to hear from any of you, Antonio Miquilena. #1 (and only I think) Fan of Jewel In Venezuela... Subject: [EDA] VMA update Jewel presents about 2 1/2 - 3 hours into the show. It ran long and ended up being about 3 1/2 hours total. They do show her briefly though about 2 hours into the show, just before a commercial. It's the one right after Missy Elliot's peformance. Something I didn't notice till the 2nd time around was seeing Jewel sitting in the background when the insult dog from the Conan O'Brien show was doing his skit. You can see Jewel quite well sitting in the row right behind him. She laughs some and holds up 2 fingers behind some little boy's head who was sitting next to her. Like some people do as a joke when taking photos sometimes. I didn't quite get why she did that but oh well. Then some guy's head gets in the way so you can't see her much after that. But it's about 20-30 seconds I guess. I thought Alicia Keys' performance was pretty good. She knows the piano for sure. And sings well too. Other highlights were seeing the remaining Ramones on stage, and Michael Jackson's surprise dance routine at the end of N-Sync's performance. I don't really like him, but it was a good surprise nonetheless. I don't think anyone was expecting to see him on the show. Oh yeah, also seeing Wes from Limp Biscuit recite some lyrics from Iron Maiden was cool. For those Iron Maiden fans on the list....haha. If you don't know who I'm talking about then nevermind. Ask your parents or something I guess. Mudvayne winning the MTV2 award was a shocker, but refreshing to see someone like that actually win an award. I think everyone expected Alicia to win that one too. Seeing Nelly Furtado during Missy's performance was cool too, I only wish she had a longer part though. Staind had a good performance as usual. And I thought Linkin Park did pretty well...better than I would have expected them to sound live. Guess that's about it...it wasn't one of the more interesting MTV awards shows for sure. But I guess it's hard to top themselves year after year. Everything seemed a bit overly scripted this year, I didn't really like that part. The "most beautiful" award has to go out to Estella Warren. I had barely heard of her before, but have a feeling she's going to be around awhile. Talk about natural beauty. Maybe I'll go see the Planet of the Apes movie now afterall...haha. Nah, I'll wait for it to hit the video stores. That's about it. Oh yeah, Jewel and Jon were a good match...they both had the "jeans/denim" look going on. I was wondering who she'd get paired with, and had forgotten he was going to be presenting as well. I couldn't really imagine her with anyone else other than maybe Sheryl Crow, who seemed like she didn't even really want to be there.
