Showbiz Damn, the media is all kinds of up the list's ass.. This is from Jam! Showbiz.. Notice how it goes from "JeweLink" in the beginning to "JeweList" in the middle.. lol. Oh well, more promotion for Jewel =) Jewel's mom writes book Lenedra Carroll -- the artist also known as Jewel's mother and manager -- is about to drop a few gems about the singer-songwriter's philosophy and view of the world. The singer's official mailing list, JeweLink, says Carroll has written a book entitled "The Architecture Of All Abundance," which "explains how Lenedra and Jewel approach business, spirituality and how the two are intertwined." "Over the years many of you have written us, curious about the inner workings of Jewel management, and there seems to be a particular fascination about how we differ from stereotypes in the music business world," the note from JeweList reports. "Also, many of Jewel's 'message songs' seem to resonate deeply with fans, and Jewel receives many emails from people wanting to know what keeps her so grounded and focused." To provide that insight, the book "weaves together stories from her childhood and tales of adversity as a young adult, along with stories of her success and the development of Jewel's career. The wisdom Lenedra has come to know and live by shines through on every page." JeweList said the book is due in stores Sept. 17, but added that more details would follow closer to the publication date. Jewel's next album, "This Way", is due in stores in Canada and the U.S. on Nov. 13. scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 . Yahoo! Also, many of Jewel's "message songs" seem to resonate deeply with fans and Jewel receives many emails from people wanting to know what keeps her so grounded and focused. We are excited to announce that Lenedra Carroll, whom most of you know is Jewel's mother and manager, has written a book entitled The Architecture of All Abundance. Soon to be available, this is a wonderful, inspirational book that explains how Lenedra and Jewel approach business, spirituality and how the two are intertwined. Lenedra weaves together stories from her childhood and tales of adversity as a young adult, along with stories of her success and the development of Jewel's career. The wisdom Lenedra has come to know and live by shines through on every page. Ron Shapiro, executive vice president and GM of Atlantic Records says "Lenedra Carroll is a brave human being and business person. She has brought unusual calm and mutual respect to all of her business dealings, leaving me and many others with a vision for a better way. I have both witnessed and experienced the authenticity and the joy that comes from working with her." Jane Goodall, Ph.D., author of Reason for Hope states, "I was captivated by the music of Lenedra Carroll's prose. Her style of writing is that of a true storyteller. Her book is one that will help those who seek peace amidst the stress of the materialistic modern world." As members of JeweLink, we wanted to make sure you knew about this book before announcements of it's release. It should be available in bookstores on Sept. 17th and we will be giving you an update closer to that date of the best places to purchase it. - --- You can help a friend subscribe by having them send a blank email to join-jewelink@list.jeweljk.com To view selected back issues of JeweLink, please visit the JeweLink Archive at the www.jeweljk.com calendar page. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Sep 2001 19:25:20 -0500 From: "LH" Subject: [EDA] YWMFM old school Okay, for a limited time for those angels out there who haven't seen the Sean Penn video for YWMFM or heard the unreleased version, it's posted at www.newworldwarehouse.com/special/ The video is in Real Player format. I think that song it's going to be like that for everybody when the new album comes out, I hope that is the 1st single, we need to hook them while their young :) if you haven't heard it, you MUST go to Scott's site (whom I have no idea who he is but I love him 'cause he went through a lot of work to get these new songs streaming) it's Jewel.tanweb.com and follow the instructions... also if you don't have a mp3 player and are computer iliterate as I am, go to winamp.com , or something like that and you can get a free mp3 player..I'm probably giving you info from 3 yrs ago, but hey..still some of us out there... Luv Uri, Lucky Angel... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Sep 2001 23:17:46 -0700 From: Uri Cancio Subject: [EDA] NJC Radio play question.. hi again I'm very reluctant about radio requests... I don't think they work anymore.. when I went to NYC to the Pantene pro v concert I had no idea who Willa Ford was, when I got back home, the pop station was playing her single like if it was the hottest thing ever..now it's even in the top 40. I don't think she got there by requests, I think that "payola", which was something big in the '80s and means that record labels pay djs and radio stations to play the songs and artist that they want the public to hear , it's alive and well. Maybe they don't pay cash anymore, maybe remuneration is through other things like concert tickets to give out to their audience and help increase their tunning time which means more air and adds sold to the sponsors... So if a label doesn't do their marketing plan for an artist in such way, how can an artist like Jewel get a hit? Labels spend more money in the acts that are going to give them more money, acts that the teens and pre teens will spend the most money on, since a 34 yr old mother of two it's not goit to run to by "n sync" , but will run to get it for the 12 yr old daughter... so anyone right now could be big, it's in the fate of the label and agents .You could make your fingers bleed calling the radio stations for them to play the song you want to hear and they won't listen... just my opinion and thoughts luv Uri, lucky angel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #382 ***************************
