Some of the best production and light show that I've seen. One great thing was how they catered to the people in the back. I was in the lawn section and saw a small stage in the middle of the section. Well, halfway through the show, they came out to the small stage and played 5 tunes, so even the people in the back got up close. To me, that's a great way to go the extra mile to make sure everyone gets a great show....not to mention it's hard to believe that guys that old can move around like that....they moved around more than Fuel who opened the show. If you get a chance, definitely go check em out live !!! Yeah, little girls look up to her, yeah, she talks about sex...but honestly, Americans in general are a little over sensitive about the whole sex thing. When I went to England last year, the boob tube (regular BBC tele) really lived up to it's name. Everywhere else in the world (for the most part) is a lot less worried about sex talk, nakedness, etc...and as a result, it's not as facinating or "shocking" to them. Either way, she could be talking about gunning down your parents or something. I don't like her, I ignore her. But all this insulting and assumptions about her is just really uncalled for and as it has already been stated is not in the spirit of this list or the EDA's. I mean, we can talk here and there, but 90% of the posts right now are about her and most of it isn't really anything but name calling...who cares, why even pay attention to the whole thing. It's been talked about for quite a while for a Jewel list and the funny thing is the WHOLE thing started as a joke between a post I did and something Dan said...nothing even serious. Second, this is for Derrick. Yes, that is Kay and a backing band on the CD and soundtrack, but Tara, Rachel and whats-her-face (I can't remember)....DID learn how to play because they wanted to make the movie more realistic, I actually came across that info while checking out stuff on the movie (I loved Josie and the Pussycats growing up and the movie was good too). I can play guitar (I do lead in my band), bass and drums and the parts were very much on target for the movie. I tip my hat (well I would if I wore a hat) to Tara because while, guitar and bass are fairly easy to fake, drums are a bit tougher. She did a great job because any musician will tell you that when someone is faking an instrument it sticks out like a sore thumb. Third, this is ABOUT Derrick. I know that a lot of you have a problem with his posts. I know a lot of them have grated on my nerves. BUT, he does have a right to speak his mind just as much as the rest of us. Given, a lot of his posts are counterpoints of other's posts on here and some of it comes across a little whiney and bitchy, but, that's just the way he talks and he's allowed. Now, I DO have a problem with the constant attacks on other EDAs that people have done on here (I'm not talking about anyone specific, it's happened a lot). I know that it's tough sometimes to not just go off on people, but we really should try to keep it to mature conversations about the ISSUES and not the PEOPLE. Unless you have met and known these people on a personal level, you really have no basis to sit there and talk about them. Now, concerning a statement Derrick said about "The Truth". I really do wish more people could handle blunt facts, but just because you believe something doesn't make it "The Truth". It's an opinion. Even if you read it in the paper or heard it on the news...that doesn't make it true. We sometimes forget that we should sit down and examine the information that is given to us instead of just taking it as fact. If we all thought for ourselves more then there wouldn't be issues of "trendiness" and people having 50 million stories concerning one incident. I don't believe everything I say is true, all I can say is I have my opinion. It's very hard to be tolerant of other's opinions sometimes, but in order to make this a better place, we really should try. Just like the Britney situation, you don't have to like Derrick, you don't have to like what he says, but you can just as easily, scroll past his remarks. The only thing I don't think is right is the personal attacks on other EDAs (or people in general, really). What you think you know is one thing, what is really there is another...dont confuse the two. There's a statement John Lennon made and used over and over again (including in a song): "Nothing is Real"....we all have our own little world (i.e. the way we think, the way we see things), but nothing is truly real. It's only how YOU experience it...it's different for everyone else. So there. There's my two cents. I'm not saying I should have the final word, but I really think EVERYONE on the list would be happier if we just moved on at this point. Let's get back to Jewel and the things that make this list a positive experience for everyone and make Jewel proud of us. So, let's see....here's some topics for you all to converse on: 1. What do you think is the best "single" Jewel has released during her career ? 2. Which artist do you think Jewel would sound the best covering (doing a song by them) ? 3. Who do you think could cover Jewel the best ? 4. Which Jewel song "gets to you" the most and why ? 5. Do you think Jewel's horse would look better in Nike or Adidas ? (heh heh) Feel free to discuss any, none or all.....hope this gets everything rolling in a positive direction.
