It's in the Updates section, along with the Jurassic Park 3 poster... perhaps, when Jurassic Park is shown... it will also chug along. But as of now, it's still not shown... Probably we just have to check the local newspapers.... Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Subject: [EDA] maybe, maybe not Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. (see below) I have some CD's with folded inserts that someone would swear are single cards...because they lay very flat and are in new condition. Maybe if one has been opened and folded a few times it would be easier to tell. On the other hand, I also have some single card insert CD's that could be mistaken for folded over ones (if someone were thinking about the above CD's I mentioned) So this isn't always a way to tell. New CD's also have the white removable protection label now too, which would then reduce the visual location to the bottom edge only. I can't remember if the Bit's CD's had this protector or not, but it seems like they may have. Either way though, I don't think this is a guaranteed way to know when you're talking about new CD's. I'm still pursuing the outer yellow sticker. I think that could be the difference. I don't recall mine having that on it when I bought it. - ---------- >If you look down thru the one on the left you can tell if the jacket is >folded or just a plain sheet of paper. I'm glad I got to meet a bunch of you, even though I couldn't make it to Bearsville. :-( I had seen Jewel once before at a concert, but I was so far back, I couldn't see anything. So even though I have always enjoyed her music, I never quite understood what some of you meant about how amazing she is on stage. Well, lastnight, I was in the fourth row in the center (not counting the rows of VIP's). When Jewel came on, I ran up to the stage, and was not 10 feet away from her. It is an experience I will never forget. She IS amazing. And if any of you have never seen her perform live, do it. TV does not count! You have to see her live. Pay extra for the best seats you can get, it is TOTALLY worth it (although the concert lastnight was free, I'd definitely pay extra to see her up close again). She sang beautifully, though I did here her throat go a couple of times. She apologized for that one! Someone next to me called, "Jewel!" and Jewel replied "What?" and the girl just kind of stared at her. So Jewel commented that people always call her name, and when she answers back, they never say anything. I love her sense of humor, she's so REAL. Jewel also said that it has been a while since she's been "around", and she doesn't know how she got so popular all of a sudden, but that her CD will be released in November (YAY!!!!) Anyway, just thought I'd share that with all of you. Hope those of you at Bearsville are having a GREAT time, and hope to see some of you at another Jewel performance in New York. Enjoy the rest of the summer. :-) Patricia ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Jul 2001 07:17:39 -0700 (PDT) From: Kris Kelley Subject: [EDA] Steve on aug. 11 My tix say the same thing for the VT show...hmmmm..... where did you get the info Cymbie that he was going to be in Wa?? A really cool thing happened tonight. There was a big party at Jim Bell's house (Jim is our esteemed ecological speaker at the "Alaska Festival" Aug 19th and 20th in San Diego. http://JimBell.com ) , and I got to jam for about 2 1/2 hours with San Diego's #1 Reggae band "The Revelations. http://www.therevelations.net " It was totally AWESOME! We played tune after tune after tune. Lots of Reggae songs, some funky stuff, and quite few improves that I threw out there. Their singer is just absolutely bad to the bone. I just cant tell you how cool it was. It would be so cool if they could play at the Humphrey Festival. I didn't ask them, but I will. It was our friend Dions birthday. Dion is quite a legendry cat. He is an ardent Hemp activist and actually used to have a storefront right here in the middle of Ocean Beach. that grew and sold Marijuana. The cops would come in and just laugh about how ironic it was. Some hotshot eventually gave him heat, and he went to court and won! Unfortunately, he closed his store anyway. I spent all day yesterday the San Diego Zoo. They have the baby polar Bears there, and I have never seen a cuter animal. It makes me so glad that we are working to save their habitat through the Alaska Festival. I need some honest, straightforward advice from you all. You have never restrained your honest opinions before and I would appreciate you not holding back for this one :) Starting from June 9, 2000, I discovered all of Jewel's unreleased music from an MP3 place that I can't mention that my brother had recently downloaded. From then on I spent most of my free time finding and downloading every song I could get my hands on. My computer is not very fast so it took atleast 1-2 hours per song, plus this MP3 place was threatening to be gone tomorrow for a lot of this time, so I crammed a lot of the songs into just a few months. All this work resulted in 5 CDs plus a Woodstock CD. And I love graphic arts and spent time designing CD covers for each one. All this work took about a year.... from June last year until June 24, 2001. A little more than a year's worth of work. I know a lot of you can relate. Well here's my predicament: My friend who is also a Jewel fan wants my CDs. Under normal circumstances I would be happy to burn copies for her, but here's the catch. We had a pretty sizeable falling out this year, with some nasty emails sent to each other just recently. Before the emails, she came to my house and saw the CDs and announced that she would like copies. I decided then that I really didn't want to give them to her because of the way she had been acting and the fact that I hadn't really been doing much with her recently. Then when we went to Red White and Boom she said again that she wanted the CDs for her birthday. I was thinking, "fine, I'll just give them to her for her birthday" maybe just 2-3 instead of all of them. Well then at the concert she didn't really talk and left early and I was really angry so I flat out told her that I would not be giving her the CDs because I had spent so much time on them and I didn't want to just "give them away." Well now the nasty emails have been sent and the "make-up" phone call has been made and although things are far from normal, they're better than before. Her birthday is July 27. Despite the promises I made to myself, about the CDs being my personal work and not giving them away to anyone, I 'm starting to feel very selfish and bitchy. Should I give them to her and forget everything I said before? Should I give up all the time I spent on them and just give them away to her after our fight? I really honestly don't know what to do. I know this is petty and pretty much very selfish, but for some reason I'm having a hard time coming to a decision. Will you guys please wake me up and tell me what to do???? Email me privately if you have any advice. Thanks so much for your time :) ~Rachel~ RachKat926@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Jul 2001 14:06:46 -0400 (EDT) From: "Amy C. Phillips" Subject: [EDA] central parl concert Hey angels! I had a blast at the concert last night! And I did see a bunch of you guys, I'm sorry I was antisocial and didn't introduce myself. I brought my mommy with me, and after a nice til the end of time walk through the park, we were a little frustrated with each other. So I was kinda deep in thought while in line. But things cleared up with us. (she's just upset i'm going back to college soon I think...) So anyway, we got in there, ran and claimed our seats, not first row since those were reserved, but pretty close. Willa Ford was very cool, and the 5 contestants were awesome. I really enjoyed hearing them. THe girl who won, Libbie, I really liked that first song. (and now i have the promo cd...yay..) So then when Jewel came on I dashed up to the front and she was gorgeous and beautiful singing. I wish the set was longer, but I know that's how it had to be for this thing. She is just so cute, she looked like she was enjoying herself, back up on stage singing. And Pantene presented her with a custom made guitar, very cool. And i loved her belt!! (well, Ty's belt to be exact...heheh, i want one...) Jewel saw the sign the girl in front of me made and gave her her guitar pick which was sweet. (i wish I thought of that too..heheh...) Ok, so after Jewel performed I wandered over the her side of people..and I heard someone shout my name. And it was these bartender girls I work with, and somehow they got VIPS Press passes, so they snuck me one! And I got to wander back with them and all the press and performers. It was awesome, I was right up where they take all the press pictures and have interviews and stuff. It was SO awesome. And I was invited to a after party and Tavern At the Green, but my mom doesn't come into the city enough where I could have left her on her own. So that was a little disappointing. But all in all I had a GREAT time. Next time I'll talk to you guys when I see you too, I swear! ;) Hope everyone else had fun! (oh and the free stuff was fun to get too...free stuff is awlays great...it could be a pen and i'd be like, LOOK what I got..ok i'm rambling..) ciao angels ()=) amy *the raindrop angel* ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Jul 2001 14:33:16 EDT From: Minnie822@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Provoice concert hello angels Last night was awesome! Jewel was fantastic! And all the finalists were awesome! The folkie girl was great. (don't know her name) But to tell you the truth i thought either the first act(libbie) or the last act (don't know her name either) was going to win... And i think the winner turned out to be libby. :0) But jewel was the best part, or course.... I saw the blue balloon while i was on line. And i was going to say hi, but i didn't because i was too shy. WHen i got into the concert area, I was sitting behind a couple rows of reserved seats... next to a girl with an "everyday angels" t-shirt on, But i didn't really talk to her, because i'm shy... Then after a few minutes, my father and i moved up to the third row of reserved seats(the girl took the tape down because no one was showing up) So i had pretty good seats... But during the concert the people in front of me started standing up. I felt bad for the people behind me... But i'm REALLLY REALLY short, so I couldn't really see in front of the tall guy in front of me, so i had to stand up. When jewel came on, everyone stood up... One guy requested "daddy she's a goddess" i thought it would've been cool for her too sing such an old song..but I don't think it would've been the same hearing the song without steve. I wanted to request Lemondrops and clover or something new like that... but i didn't think she would've heard with in all the screaming so i didn't say anything. Before the show, jewel was getting interviewed. When she came down from the (tower??? I guess thats what you would call it) a bunch of people stood there screaming her name.. the girl in front of me went and when she got back she said that jewel just kinda walked away.... Then after the finalists i think they announced the winner of the signed guitar... she was right next to me, amoung all the people sitting on the floor on a blanket. (did anyone know her) Then jewel came on... she asked what people wanted to hear... some guy i heard requested Carnvore, and another(as i said before) requested daddy shes a goddess) and then someone requested YWMFM and thats was she ended up singing. she sang YOU WERE MEANT FOR ME, BREAK ME(" its a love song. So grab the stranger next to you... Guys are going... "I'm free, I'm single'") HANDS, COLD SONG (i love that song!) WHO WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL and CHIME BELLS! (i love it when she yodels) Then, after she proformed, The director of the show (i think she was the director... or maybe it was willa ford.. couldn't really see) presented jewel with a guitar.... I think it was accustic... I could see b/c the people in front of me were standing on chairs. I was going to stand on my chair too, but i didn't want to get in the way of the people behind me, and I didn't want to fall off the chair. After they announce the winner... Libbie and the wash, My father and i left.... Jewel didn't proform another song after all that did she? If she did what was it.... Okay well that was my night! I would love to hear more stories luv ya Diana the writing angel (\o/) /_\ ___________________________________________________________________ "Live bravely, love bravely.
