People are twits, and this individual a notable one. ;) As far as the movie, the ending was Speilbergian, but it's to be expected from any movie he does. It doesn't make it bad, but it does make the level he's aiming the movie at lower. Speilberg writes to entertain the Masses, not the individuals. Just got in from Austin.. I'd went down there to see Luna Taylor play at Ruta Maya (a local coffee house, a couple block from the famed 6th street). The show was very good, and the crowd rather full (about thirty or so people). Luna played for about two hours and it seemed like everyone had a very good time, her included. Her set consisted of (not in order) Original songs: Mariposa Goddess Biscuit song Life is a Stranger Delia Gypsy Privacy Angels in the Water Woman Who Can Cook Chrissie's Bathtub Little Leaf Stargazing Quality Time Why Are You Loving Me? I'll Always be Your Girl Covers: Blackstar (Radiohead) Cow Cow boogie (old country song, don't know who wrote it) and a gershwin song that I can not remember the name of at the moment... ------------------- It was a very good show, and being her last show in the US for a couple of months, I regret leaving my recorded locked in the car. Luna is leaving for Europe for awhile, and then I think she is going to hang her hat in Northern California, so if you live in the Peoples Republic of California you should check her out this winter/spring. Missed the last show? Want to find out more about Luna, you can check her website out at www.lunataylor.com or join the Mariposa mailing list by sending an email with "subscribe" in the body of the message to mariposa-request@smoe.org and replying to the automated response. Mariposa is an open forum for discussing Luna Taylor, or just about anything else even remotely related. take care rowdy - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2001 13:54:06 -0700 From: "Amanda Kuehn" Subject: [EDA] Strange thing So here I am reading my messages from the EDAs, when I look over and see this advertisement of the Pantene Pro-Voice thing with a picture of Jewel on it. Of course, you can bring whatever you want, but here's what has happened in past years: DO NOT BRING - * Ketchup, mustard, etc. (We routinely end up with 20 bottles of the stuff most of which gets tossed.) * Paper plates, napkins, cups, etc. (see above) * Perishibles that you have no way of keeping cold. Ice lasts about 12-20 hours in a cooler, so you are subjecting yourself to having to go on a "ice run" everyday. Plus, coolers have all they can handle keeping our adult beverages cold ... nobody wants hotdog free floating with their Sam Adams. (Really, I've seen too much good food go bad in five years ... it's a waste to bring perishibles unless you have immediate plans to eat them.) * A lot of cooking equipment (this is different based on everyone's own comfort level. From the few regulars [the 3 Tom's and us] we have a pretty complete kitchen set-up.) * Things you aren't willing to share. (BIG HINT: if you want to keep it yours, then keep it in your tent. Anything near the kitchen is instantly community property.) I am sure there is more I am forgetting about. Just keep in mind, we are only a few miles from a fairly decent grocery store. So if we run out of stuff, or you feel like a nice big steak, it is much easier all the way around to buy that stuff when you are up there. If we run out of cups or something we can get some more. Understand, when you get 25-30 people together it's easier to buy *what we need* when we are together rather than coordinating this stuff before hand. I hope that helps! -- Rob ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2001 20:04:00 -0700 From: Shawn E Williams Subject: [EDA] Hard Rock Live yo! i just finished watching HRL and i didn't get to hear it, b/c my sister was blaring the radio! but there was like 15 min of commercials at one time, did that happen to anyone else, b/c i wanna make sure i didn't miss anything. but anyway, she looked so cute in it! love ya, shawney the hippie angel "I'll raise my mouth just like a glass, you'll drink Tangerine lips and water deep Rising up, I feel that ancient song Playing to the rhythm of the dawn" ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Wasn't she supposed to sing duets with her parents? I'm wondering if that was missed for commercials. I'm going to check out the other showing later tonight to see if it's any different. Anyways-- it's amazing how much a song is when you see it live. I have those songs in MP3 and when I saw them live her emotion made them so much different and added so much. 1000 Miles Away brought me to tears.
