I have picks actually two different kinds from jewel and then one pick each from the rest of the band, I have a set list, some beads that were thrown at jewel in san francisco, I think they are the ones that hit her in the head, but there were two sets on the stage. Well I guess I just have a bunch of stuff. My favorite though are the pictures that I took of Jewel and Steve faces two inches apart singing there best song. I have it framed and enlarged. I have my bouncing tigger signed by the whole band, cake, old 97s, and flemming and john. Oh and i have a beach ball that jewel kicked off stage. "big blue" guitar pin. was sold during the papillon tour. not sure if it's rare or not, just don't ever hear any mention of it... 3. pieces of you promo poster. about 11" x 16", she's wearing a blue long sleeved shirt and has a blue barret in her hair. well, that's all i can think of at the moment. later, tracy ~smilin' angel~ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Jun 2001 17:08:01 EDT From: NeOblCar@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Weirdest//Rarest Jewel Item? I didn't like it too much at first, but after the 5th spin, i grew to love it. I too, ironically found it at walmart of all places, right when it was released... I was actually looking for Pink Floyd, and by accident, i stumbled across one copy of Steve Poltz's CD mixed in.... and I was like "steve poltz... now that sounds familiar... is that the guy who writes w/ jewel?" i looked on the back, and sure enough I saw "Silver Lining" and I bought it. Subject: [EDA] Hey hey...MY Weirdest//Rarest Jewel Item(s)! :-) Adding my bit to this cool thread...I have quite a few seemingly "rare" or "unusual" Jewel items...but I'll just name a few here so I don't look too dumb when someone writes me back saying "that isn't rare at all" lol 1. A 8 1/2 x 11 flyer to a private concert she did back in December 1996. It was by invite only and the only way to get these flyers was to go to the radio station when you won the tickets and pick them up (it was actually the "ticket" to get in as well, but since I had 10 and only needed 4, I have 6 left over) :-) I think this would qualify as "rare" since I think only about 200 people were allowed into this show...thus, 200 flyers I guess. This was also the night she started coming down with bronchitis...which was discussed on the list quite extensively back then as she had to cancel the next night's show because of this and it caused quite a stir if I remember correctly. 2. The original Bits and Bauble CD with the first version inserts. This may not be all that rare really, but they're not easy to come by, although I know there was one up for auction awhile back for that that official charity auction Jewel's people ran. 3. A 5 ft. tall triangular heavy-duty cardboard CD display stand for Spirit. There are pictures on it that mirror the Spirit CD insert. So it has BIG Jewel hands, BIG Jewel feet, etc. You get the idea...hehe. I think this dates back to late 1998. I never even heard of another one of these around nor seen any available. However I do see at least one other list member has this now. :-) (see below) So the tally is *2* now...hehe. Anyone else have this? It's about the single most "coolest" thing I think I've ever seen that's Jewel-related. Ok, maybe not, but it ranks pretty high up in there in my opinion. Since it's actually *functional*. I think it can hold up to about 30 CD's. Not that I'm using it for that though...lol. 4. A rare PoY promo poster. Hard to describe, but it's more of an earthy natural colored poster. I got one online. Never seen one since. Anyone else have this? I would guess 2 other EDA's may have gotten the other 2. I believe it's circa 1995. 5. The 1998 Christmas CD Jewel and Nedra mailed to their friends and family. At the time I got this it was really rare I thought, but come to find out maybe up to 1000 were made. Still somewhat "rare" I guess though. :-) I have 3 now, I think. lol 6. Save the Linoleum promo CD. Ok so this isn't rare at all, but hey, I got mine back in 1996 so it wasn't all that common then. 7. The 9x12 envelope which contained all of Jewel's documentation for her Austin City Limits concert back in Feb. 2000. This came straight from her dressing room! Has her name hand written on it and "Austin City Limits" and other misc. info imprinted onto it. ;-) (no, Jewel wasn't still in the room, unfortunately) And just so I'm not alone in this...there were 3 others in there as well with me, you know who you are! hehehe....I guess to go along with this would also be my ticket stub from that show. I think 600 were allowed inside? Correct me if I'm wrong, someone who went. 8. And last but not least, a promo photo for some modeling studio that has Jewel wearing a very "Alaskan" type of outfit, for lack of better words. This is a black and white photo, maybe about 5 x 7 or slightly larger. Jewel is kind of looking over one of her shoulders. Only seen one other like this. Maybe there are a ton of these floating around, but I've just seen 2 to date. My guess would be it's from 1994 or early 1995. She looks VERY young. *Maybe* 20? The main purpose of this photo is to advertise the modeling agency, NOT Jewel, interestingly enough. However, in small print at the bottom it does say "Jewel". So yeah, it's her. :-) 9. Ok, one more thing. I also have a few of the EDA guitar picks that were circulated a couple years ago. And both EDA shirts, which I think are sort of rare in their own right. And, the JewelStock t-shirt...which I've stopped wearing after the tally was up to 3 I think. It's too valuable to me now. I've never seen one of these available anywhere. People are KEEPING these I guess! :-) That's what makes an item rare in my opinion. If there are 10,000 of an item, but no one is willing to let go of it, then it's rare. If there are 500 of an item, but you can find 100 at any given time online, for example, there's nothing rare about that. To me rarity isn't the quantity alone...but in conjunction with availability. I'm sure I'm leaving out some things, but it's too much to list really...lots of rare posters, more concert flyers, one-of-a-kind (literally) pics and tapes, etc, etc, etc. :-) Derrick PS...great thread! > ---------- > From: smilinangel[SMTP:smilinangel@msn.com] > Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2001 6:14 PM > To: Jewel Digest > Subject: Re: [EDA] Weirdest//Rarest Jewel Item? > > hi all. well, i've got a few rare jewel items to speak of... > > 1. 5' tall cardboard "spirit" cd display stand.
