I just returned from a wonderful evening at Sandstone Ampitheatre in Kansas City. It was great! As mentioned before, Jewel did come on earlier--right at 6:20...thanks for whoever posted that. I didn't read any of my emails before I left at 11:00 this morning so I was unknowingly filling my water bottle when the announcer introduced Jewel. I FLEW back to my seat just to see her on the stage. Here's a rundown of the concert if anyone cares to read it: The set started off with You Were Meant for Me and it was interuppted with a guy with a squirt gun spraying Jewel. She humorously stopped the song and pointed it out... but started again. It was great. She then proceeded to Stephenville, chatting in between. Next came Who Will Save Your Soul..........with that BEAUTIFUL high note at the end that just topped it off beautifully. She of course chatted with the audience... making fun of a guy flexing his muscles at her--"That REALLY turns me on!" She ended with Up on a Mountaintop/Chime Bells... going faster and faster just like she does on the MP3 I'm sure we have ALL downloaded. Overall-- it was perfect............except for the everpresent complaint of my seats. I was WAY back, so all my pictures are of a little dot... and through my binoculars I saw my friend who is a Jewel fanatic as well (not as much as me though..hehe) and she was FRONT ROW standing against the fence, probably 5 feet away. I'm not jealous... or bitter :( Sad though.... She was going to give me her ticket stub so I could sneak down there with her, but I never got a hold of her on her cell phone. It would have been incredible if I could have been that close. But the binoculars helped :) I'm also VERY disappointed that I went to the autograph stand after Jewel's set, only to find that she had a plane to catch (hence the reason she traded set times with Dream and played an hour and 20 minutes earlier) and she had autographed and done a meet-and-greet BEFORE her set. So I was out of luck and couldn't see her. It pretty much ruined the night for me. I'm a perfectionist and so the disappointment of my stupidity kind of stayed with me. IF ONLY I had been there. But it would have just been a coincidence and sheer luck to have been at the stand at that particular window of time. It would have been PERFECT if I had just been over there. Oh well.... hopefully there will be a next time. If anyone reads this that speaks to Jewel--- tell her that Kansas City LOVED HER and we had a WONDERFUL time. THANK her so much for playing for us--and we hope KC treated her well. I think I was the only EDA there, but oh well. I can't wait for the next live performance :) Good night and if anyone else was there, tell me what you thought. ~Rachel~ the perfectionist, but happy angel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2001 02:15:42 EDT From: RachKat926@aol.com Subject: [EDA] A Wonderful Jewel-filled Evening Hi all! I just wanted to let you know the show was great! For any Kansas Citiens out there, I thought you might like to know that there is a picture of her in the Metropolitam section of the KC Star. It said there would be a review of the show in the FYI section of Tuesday's paper. I just thought I would let you know. It was so wonderful to see Jewel again-since it had been five years! Have a great day! Mandy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #245 ***************************
