I'd like to comment on Kristin's post - while it might be nice to think that everyone can get along, on a list of around 2000 at last count I believe, it's virtually impossible for this to happen. People will be people, they will disagree, and frankly, I agree with whomever it was who said this list would just be plain boring if everyone got along 100% of the time. I enjoy reading other people's opinions, and I also enjoy reading the "other side" when people disagree, and yes, sometime's the posts might get a little "harsh", but for the most part when both sides calm down, it's forgotten. (Unless of course, someone want's to be a dickhead after contacting you off of the list to yell at you and tell you they will sue you for harassment if you email them back again after their comments, which I've had the lovely pleasure of going through). ~ Sandy - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Wednesday, May 02, 2001 1:47 PM Subject: [EDA] Angels-PLEASE! > Hello Angels, > > What's going on here? Maybe I'm the only one who understands cymbies tone and what she meant, but frankly, I stand behind most of her post. No offense to michiel, (and I know it might be hard to not take an offense at this) but it does tend to get a little old when he keeps sending almost the same message to the list over and over (when will Jewel's record be out, why don't we hear about it, why isn't she in europe, etc.) in fact I believe we've had this same "arguement" over a cymbie-to-michiel post before. It's not that he doesn't have a right to his posts, or his opinions, but so does cymbie and I can understand, in a moment of sudden annoyance, why she would send that post. cymbie & I obviously aren't the only people who've noticed michiels redundancy (and yes he is entitled to it, and his posts....) Anyways, I say cymbie, you go girl! :) I wouldn't have the guts to write it, and I wouldn't want to hurt michiels or anyone else's feelings over it, but that's pretty much the exact same thing I think everytime I read one of those posts. The "why why why I need to know about Jewel now" stuff starts to wear on you after a while.... anyways, only my thoughts, and again I'm not trying to be rude at all, but wasn't just going to sit back and let everyone else tell cymbie she's wrong and bash her for something when frankly I think the same thing... ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 18:40:44 +1200 From: "Stace" Subject: [EDA] the new games Woohoo! I was just hanging out for the new versions of those games. Perhaps that's sad... but i was ;) Jewelology was definetely harder this time... i had to guess a few more times than i would have liked. And i admit that i had to cheat and go searching through bios for Lenedra's middle name - lol. I shoulda known what the answer was... cos ya find out and go "oh yeah.. of course!" The video... oh my god. The Jewelstock performance of "Amen" is what first made me fall in love with that song. I used to listen to it on the bus on my way into uni all the time. I can never get sick of that song. The video was amazing - seeing her move her whole body with all that emotion... wow. I would have really loved to have had a much bigger challenge in Bites and Baubles - it would be cool if the J-Team put in more unrealeased songs that aren't on any of her albums. Still, it was fun as always. The Gloria video blew me away.... damn, i DREAM of having that kind of range and power in my voice. It looked like it was recorded in her Kitchen... i recognised the bench ;) And the sound was very cool - had that kind of echo effect like when you sing in the bathroom. I think Jewel mentioned that at the end too - she laughed and said something like "it sounded better in the shower" i think... it was hard to hear. But she's kidding herself - she sounded amazing. I love those games... they always leave me wanting more. I really like Jewel myself, but I don't have to know or even want to know everything she does. The saying "too much information" applies here. Like Cymbie I'm happy she's recording, but don't need to know every detail- she's recording good enough for me. Lemme know when I can buy it and I'll be a happy boy. Personally I'd like to see her do a solo acoustic album cause I'm a sucker for a girl w/ a guitar as evidence by my EDA buddies all are girls whom at least dabble in guitar. Well a Harris brother might include Mike in that category cause he's my friend too =) As for the Drug thingy I again agree with Kelly. THEY ARE NO LAUGHING MATTER. Time for my story. My best friend was nearly KOed by myself because he made a joke about drunks being funny. They are kinda laughable, but it is rather sad when you think about it. When he made this reference my aunt was in the hospital about to have surgery because her car had been hit by a drunk and she was nearly killed. He put my aunt in the hospital then got up and ran off uninjured-later to be caught. Can we please drop the drug references? Thanky all. I would like to respond to this inane and obvious attempt at a smear campaign. This is just latest in a never ending attempt of the Harris bozos to discredit and eliminate the rising west coast contingent of the EDAS. The sheer audacity of Dennis "obviously from another planet" Harris to even SUGGEST that I would organize a Gathering merely for comraderie and goodwill is laughable. I will have it known it is a totally baseless rumor that I am a "nice" guy (as for alien...I DO live in California...EVERYONE here is an alien). By labeling me as a broken dispirited circus animal he hopes to paint me as a weak and ineffective rival...a non concern. After my June trip to rally our forces in North Cali (June 4th-10th..get ready you guys!), I will have once again united the west coast power base Mr. Harris. When I am done...we will see who plays the fool. Even an Army death squad led by Tom Miles (and his rental car of doom) could not accomplish what your ceaseless prattling has attempted. Know that I have been to the heart of the Harris Bros lair and I am not impressed (even if he does have a cool dog named Blood). You might even look to your allies at home to see the reach of my grasp (HI AMY!! HI LEIFERS!!). Laugh it up Dennis, for even as you slink back into your underground lair, know that the day we shall meet again is coming and the SoCal EDAs WILL have the upper hand. Cleaning my garage will seem like wonderous experiance by comparison. Come to think of it, I could really use some help installing some kitchen cabinets...... The only version of "here when gone" that I have is very hard to hear the guitar pattern, and I've been unable to find another version as of now, so I was wondering if some nice EDA would help me out here and tell me which tab is more accurate: (The Choruses are both the same, I'm looking mainly for the more accurate intro/outro & verse) http://www.endor.org/jewel/reopen.asp?URL=http%3A//www.endor.org/jewel/tabs.a sp This is the first one I looked at since I have Gerrits page bookmarked. I played it and it sounds close to the recording I have, but it's hard to say because the guitar volume kind of goes in and out and it's hard to hear. That's why I went in search of another one to make sure :) There is just little places in the song that it doesn't seem to fit. http://meticulous.com/bobo/jeweltab/tabs/herewhengone.txt This one is just....I don't know. Its *completely* different than the one at Gerrits site, and to >ME< it doesn't sound accurate at all, but I haven't been playing guitar for that long, so with that and being unable to hear her guitar well in the recording, I'm wondering if Jewel ever changed it, or if this one is just way off, or if I'm just silly and this one is actually more accurate than the other one. So....if anyone could reply privately and tell me which one they think is more accurate, or even give me another place where the tab is accurate, I would much appreciate it. :) ~<3~ Sandy ------------------------------> http://www.envy.nu/angeloflove .....
