When's the last time you had one of those pleasant, touching moments discussing Crack with your beloved fellow edas? Come on, it'd be a wonderful time! I remember my freshman year of college. My roommate was an old friend who's name also happened to be Mike. Anyway, a friend of ours was in rock something IL and brought us back a lovely little rock of crack in a cute little ziploc baggie! So we set to work immediately taping the little baggie to the wall of our dorm room, above which I wrote "SHRINE OF CRACK" in huge blue and black letters with arrows surrounding the little rock of crack so that no one entering our room would miss our little friend! Then, on the outside of our door I wrote "MIKE & MIKE'S DUSTBUNNY FARM AND HOUSE OF CRACK" The dust-bunnies you ask? Well... that's another story entirely, and it will just have to wait. Someone commented about my comment that all this had been discussed before. I know for a fact that the person is question (Michiel) was on the group at the time. I think Cymbie's point is that some people post over and over about the same topics. Why isn't there album information, I want new videos, I want Jewel to come to where I am again soon. It's enough to drive you crazy sometimes. I think it can be agreed that we would all like the new album, new tour, new everything. And we all want Jewel to play somewhere near us. I think of this list as a place to discuss things that are happening, not complain about the things that aren't. It's not like Jewel is going to read these posts and say "Ok, the EDAS really want my new album now, so here it is." Personally I want quality, not an album produced quickly simply to maintain popularity (ie Teeny Bopper Pop) And another thing, it's not like Cymbie jumped on someone who asked a simple question, she was responding to someone who asks the same questions and has the same complaints. I admit, I have posted more than once about some topics (actually 2x about web site plagarism) but since no one else seems to care, I just fume about it silently and post comments in guest books. And believe me, every time I come across a site that takes its news directly, and I mean word for word, from the official site, I want to scream. But I won't talk about that because no one else cares. Another thing, saying rude things about someone because you think they were rude makes you just as rude as they were. - -Kerri "But don't wander too far, my one constant star. Does anyone of you live between San Francisco and San Diego ? If so, It would be awesome to meet you ! Also, If anyone is interested of coming along, it'll be awesome ! I think it'll be a nice way to get to know each other. We are going to bring our guitars and play Jewel songs in the van while driving !! :) I know it'll a long drive... about 10 hours right ? 'Must tell Chris and n e other UK Jewel fans that the new edition of UK Maxim magazine has compiled a supplement called 'MAXIM 1000 Sexist Woman- Ever!' and I couldn't believe that Jewel was actually in it! She's 732! Unbelievable really, she should be 1 ofcourse but I'm glad She's in it. It's all such bullocks really. I mean Renee Zellweger's 383 when we all know she should be 2 and Jewel's behind Judy Finnegan and Delia Smith! Every woman in it has these small symbols by their name and a brief explanation of them (a lot of pics but not one of Jewel!). Jewel's symbol is two eyes on springs which means 'Crikey! Look at those legs'. The symbols are pretty random I think. But My wife & I are willing to hold an EDA gathering at our home in NW Illinois, @ an hour from downtown Chicago and a 1/2 mile from the Metra train. If any Illinois EDA's want to get together we would love to get the ball rolling since summer is upon us, theres plenty of room in the house plus room outside for tents and any musician's are welcome to come and sit in with our band. Although we dont play any Jewel tunes (like anyone could match her voice!) It could be a really great time. like I said before my AOL will be getting cancelled soon so if someone wants to get the ball rolling it would be great. Try responding to my email address first, but if it doesnt work send it to "Annie8908@AOL.com" my stepmothers email i will be sure to get it. We are open to all ideas and time but i have off Sundays and mondays but will take a Sat. off if thats the way it works out. I tried to get something going last year, but noone could decide where to go or what to do so, the destination is set enjoying great music is the event. the cost is nothing, the grill is open for those who care to bring "grill-ables" or since i'm a Chef I could prepare some for everyone as long as "whom ever" can make a decision on something . Anywho please lets get this thing going and have a great time!!!! But brown... what I said in no way implied that Cymbie was using crack. I just thought she was being harsh, I didn't understand her motives, but people have made them more clear. And it certainly isn't funny to joke around about drugs, I don't care who you are, or what you're talking about, or if it's some inside joke... Drugs aren't a joking matter, Like Cymbie said, they screw up peoples lives. I lost a lot of friends because I didn't choose to participate in their drug-related activities... I guess I wasn't cool enough. So yeah, please don't joke about stuff like that, you never know who you could hurt by saying something- even if your intentions were to humor people... some might find it funny, and some won't... so spare the ones who won't, and joke to yourself privately, or privately to those who you think will enjoy... thanks ;) Lorrie the lonely angel _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 May 2001 10:56:07 -0400 From: "Lorrie Stewart" Subject: [EDA] gathering in the tri-state area alright... Hey there Anyone want to go to a Living Room Concert in Boston this thursday, May 3rd at 7pm? The band is WENT (www.wentsongs.com), who are out of New York. They've played with Jeff Buckley, Homer Erotic, Holly Palmer and the likes. The regularly play the NYC circuit (Arlenes, Bowery, Bitter End, Living Room, Fez...). They are going to be showcased on the Jenny Jones show hopefully soon, and their sound is a mix of etheral vocals over lush guitar. It is a mix of strong riffs and hooks with stay-in-your-mind vocalsIs. It is rock and can hold its own against any garbage or hole song. WENTs music can best be described as a rocky/groove/folk mix. Sarah Wendt's ethereal vocals grasp you and sooth you, while taking you on a musicl journey. The lush guitar is backed by some pretty tight drum beats, and the production is amazing. WENTs sound is very unique and refreshing. Soft and soothing, yet hooking and hip. For a month in a row, WENT's CD "Parachute" made the top 200 most played CDs on the RADIO AIRPLAY 200, which was rated above Nine Inch Nails, Jewel, A Perfect Circle, Moby, At The Drive-In, Badly Drawn Boy, David Gray, Lenny Kravitz, Wu-Tang Clan... If you enjoy the vocalings of Beth Orton, Jewel, Natalie Merchant, Emm Gryner, Sarah Slean, Tara MacLean, Poe, Sinead O'Connor, Sarah McLachlan, with a bit more rock and groove, you'll love WENT. Email: JewelEDA21@aol.com for more info and guest list. The show is free, but we ask everyone to donate $5-$10 for the artist. Its just like any other LRC! Subject: [EDA] NJC: Just an observation Sometimes when people are going through a difficult time in their life, they tend to "vent" their frustrations on others, or through others "faults" or "perceived lack on knowledge" or simply, "their curiosity". Because some may be curious, doesn't make them obsessive, overly caring, crazy, or needing to take prescription medicine. So before one attacks another on this list, they need to evaluate their own lives and realize if there's something going on that they don't like, then they should work on changing THAT, rather than attacking others who have nothing to do with their problems. And I do tend believe this is the case with a select few on this list. They may and will probably deny it, and that's fine. I expect this. Thus my subject title "just an observation". :-) Please send any and all feedback to ME and not the list. I do expect some, since it will merely prove what I'm saying even moreso.
