Even a dollar is a contribution to a good cause. But a part of what Scott said bothered me. Being that you are 15 years old means that yeah you can scrounge up $20 and donate it. that's cool and generous. But for those of us who have rent, tuition, car payments, etc. it's not quite so easy as not going to a movie or waiting to buy a cd. Some of us really don't have $20. Sorry, it just bugged me. Life isn't always as easy as just "not buying a cd" and even if I can't donate $20 I think even $3 is just as important if it's all you can afford. i just want everyone to feel that anything they contribute is good. oy, i'm tired. but i had to vent. money's tight for me right now and it's stressful. nothin' personal. - ----------------------------- "You might say that you don't have much money, but I'm 15 years old with no job and no steady source of income.. If I can scrounge up $20 for the cause, then 95% of you all can, I'm sure.. Wait out on the CD or movie you've been waiting to buy for just another couple of weeks and use that money to help." _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2001 14:56:33 +0200 From: "michiel" Subject: [EDA] =?iso-8859-1?Q?Back_to_The_USA_as_Eda=B4s_from_Europe?= hello Jewelfans, Who can afford to make a trip to see Jewel play in an intimate setting in California San diego in August. I'm very glad that my idea for Jacque's honor is working. For a while there, I was debating with myself to even bring it up to the list at all again, but now I know that I have EDAs who are loving and supportive. To those of you who didn't think it was a good idea, that is OK too. You guys had VERY good points as to why we shouldn't do it. I respect that immensely. I'm still happy, though, that we have conformation from Shane and Alan to do it for Jacque and Jewel. Please everyone, donate what you can. I want this to be really something special for her bday. I'm sure most of us can sacrifice at LEAST $5 for Clearwater." Funny she should mention THAT amount. She's right, five dollars are not hard to part with, and more importantly-- five dollars can make _such_ a difference! Remember that story about Juel, and how she just needed five bucks, and when someone gave her five dollars, her whole life changed? Let's go EDA's! Is there an "other" category for donations where you can put your own amount in? I didn't see one. I once gave $20 to a complete stranger (a homeless man who was hanging around my store). Even $20 isn't a whole lot, but that was alot, considering I was quite broke at the time. But it made me feel so good to do it. I had no idea what he'd do w/ the money, but I didn't care. Regardless if he wanted food or just booze, he needed the money more than me. So afterwards he came into the store and did a little shopping.... he bought a razer, so he could shave. he bought some food, and a gas lamp and oil..... he bought quite a bit w/ that $20 I'd given him. It also made me feel really good that such a small amount of money, was able to help someone out alot. Someone who needed it more than I. I'd always have money in my pocket.... no matter how much or little, I'll always have it. But some people never do. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Sunday, April 15, 2001 1:19 PM Subject: Re: [EDA] EDA Donations to Clearwater > True, $5 is not a lot to part with, but when I went to make my donation, the > minimum donation was $10.
