I know what Bob's saying though. And last Christmas I tried to say the same thing. It seems like a nice gesture and quite harmless. It IS quite harmless. But the fact is that jewel did let us in on something very personal to her. And that really doesn't mean she wants us acting like we understand or like we can possibly value Jacque as much as she did. Even though we're doing it with the best intentions. >------------------------------ > >Date: Sat, 07 Apr 2001 08:51:54 -0400 >From: Mike Connell >Subject: Re: [EDA] Did anyone actually know Jacque?? > >At 04:44 AM 4/7/01, bob ster wrote: > >Hi, > > > >This is my first post, but i have lingered for a few months. Another actress that i think looks like Jewel is Lee Lee Sobieski the girl that played in Here On Earth. So, name your price for shipping and handling and effort in retaping, and I will send moolah to the person who will send me a copy, and if you have it, feel free to throw on MTV Cribs or any other exciting performances by Jewel. But, really, Austin City Limits is the one I want. Please email me if you can deliver the goods, and name your price for shipping, tape cost etc. Thanks! And as others had mentioned, what gives us the right to pretend we know how painful it was, just because we read her book. I think that it is nice that people want to show Jewel that they care, but if you feel that "Jacque" is the way to go, then don't you think that maybe there should be a donation to Jacque's cause (i think it was said that she died of cancer -I haven't read the whole book yet) for Jacque and we just tell Jewel about it or make it from "Jewel and the EDA's." A donation that would help people like Jacque and as a result save people like Jewel (or anyone) from having to go through the pain of losing someone. I think that there's a possibility that Jewel would appreciate that more. I think that it is something better and more effective than just mentioning her name. Clearwater is something that Jewel has chosen as her project and something that we have wanted to help with and have in the past, but it is not something that Jewel can't accomplish without our contributions. Donating to cancer in name of Jacque or Jacque and Jewel is something that Jewel probably hasn't done, so maybe it is something a little bit different that we can give to show how much people affect other people. But maybe some of you still think that Clearwater is the right way to go, and maybe it is, I'm just making suggestions here, but if Clearwater is the right way, wouldn't it make more sense to make a donation on Aug. 17 ( ? ) in memory of Jacque. That's the day that Jewel will remember a sad occasion, but it could also be the day that jewel realizes how much her sharing that story has affected other people. But that's just my take on it all. -Katherine ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less!
