I am a Marine wife, and my husband was deployed for 3 months last year. So I often read "Too Many Nights" because my life and my bed were so empty while he was gone. It really hits home when the one you love most is gone... "It's been too many nights of being with To now be suddenly without" Another favorite is "As a Child I Walked." It so reminds me of myself when I was a child, and even now (to a point). "As a child I walked with noisy fingers along the hemline of so many meadows back home" Christy ===== "Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom." -- Jewel Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Im gonna only list 1 or 2 things cause I could write an entire book of reasons Why I love her. I love how shes a real person. She is not afraid to speak her mind and doesnt change awhole lot. I mean like,Shes not the perfect angel for the media and completely different in front of her fans and friends. Theres very little change in her style. Shes always herself and doesnt change for anyone. I love how she can can be sweet and sexy one minute and rough and edgy the next. How she can look good in a formal gown, then make T-shirts and Jeans look ohh so good. Then again I like any girl that has T-shirt and Jeans style. I love how she took a nap right before the Tampa show got up and came right on stage, bed head and all. Little stupid things like that. I don't know how to explain it, but it's so cute. my favorite representation of her voice is when she hits those high notes without vibrato like in "Enter From the East" I am in love with every neuonce in her voice, every little crack and flow... I love how real she is in every situation... a sign of a "real" person who isn't going to let self-consiousness control her. I love everything about her... even her feet which are something I find gross unless I truly love some one in which case the humility thing of love comes into play and I want to kneel before the creation of beauty in surrender. I've cried knowing she'll never be my wife. She is so amazing in every way shape and form... god I love her... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Mar 2001 05:19:25 -0600 From: "Brown" Subject: [EDA] RE-POY The lyrics of POY are really great and need to be sung, sorry as that is. You see, I was in a band for around 5 years or so, and when you're playing small clubs you really see just how much talent is out there that may never be heard, real talent with real things to say, and you get really angry about all of the shallow crap in the corporate music scene, which is why I haven't purchased a corporate release in about 8 years or so, Jewel is my only exception. She is one of the few artists that is real and some how sliped through the cracks of a hollow machine of money directed creations. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Barry Howarth > There were some other comments -- not by you -- that condemned rap > per se, which I felt was going too far... >From Brown > >I said most, not all. > >From: Barry Howarth > > > Hi Angels, > > > With rap, as with all forms of music, there's good and not so good > > > and downright bad and brilliant. I was really taken with it beacuse 1) how many artists (espcially young ones) do you know of that stick their very own poetry in the pages of their CD booklets? 2)the picture accompying it was so adorable (Jewel on a trampoline) and 3) during a time of "we will all be depressed beacuse it's the cool thing to do" Jewel had a hopeful message. My other favorite is "Shush" from ANWA, I guess beacuse its so dramatic and makes such an important statemeant. ====== Lola =============== The Ballerina Angel ================ "It isn't that gentlemen *really* prefer blondes, it's just that we look dumber." _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Mar 2001 16:04:18 -0500 From: "Lorrie Stewart" Subject: Re: [EDA] Favorite Jewel Poems, and a poem of my own. whoa...
