Remember when we were asked about what our favorite songs were? I immediately thought "Last Dance Rodeo" and I'm sticking to that. Yesterday though I realized something. I've been getting new songs every once in a while and listening to all new music, at least to me it's new. I realized that it's been a while since I listened to POY. In fact I'm guessing there are a lot of people on this list that have neglected there POY album (shame on you) to listen to newer Angelfood songs. Of course I'm joking and there are probably many of you that listen to POY everyday. But for the people like me that haven't listened to POY in a while go back, dust it off, and pop it in and listen. What I realized, and one reason that I am a Jewel fan, is that after all the time I listened to it (I probably wore a groove into it) it still sounds like an old favorite that I want to listen to and I'm not tired of it. I also realized that I love the song "Painters". That song gives me chills, even though! it's more of a story, but it's unique and it fills your head with each little image and reminds you that Jewel will always have that effect regardless of the time gone by. Which leads me to a question for the list. "What one song, maybe besides a Jewel song, is the most nostalgic to you? The type of song that you could hear on the radio, or somewhere you wouldn't expect, and still remember where you were and the first time you heard that song and want to turn it up even though you might have heard this song a million times". I know it's much easier for EDA's to remember Jewel songs because we talk about them all the time so maybe challenge yourself and think of a song, say for example "Rappers Delight". You might be saying "Rappers Delight?" That was the first rap song I ever heard and I didn't even hear it on the radio first. I heard two kids in the playground singing it and I thought it was the coolest thing to be able to talk along in a rhyming beat. If you don't know what song that is "Hip, Hop...rocking to the bang bang boogey, say up jump the boogey..." that song. It was on Wedding Singer and a bunch of other movies. I'm still thinking about which song is to me but I wanted to see what you guys thought. Thanks. Keith the everchanging my mind what kind of angel, angel "I won't be held down. I won't be held back. I will lead with my faith". - Jewel "Barcelona" ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 10:09:10 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Fav song question and poll. > "What one song, maybe besides a Jewel song, is the most nostalgic to you? "back 2 good" by Matchbox20. I remember the night and the whole setting still, even though it happened over 3 years ago. I had the CD, but never paid attention to the song, until that night... when I fell in love with it. I was dating a guy named Troy.... but I hated him. He was really dirty (literally wore the same clothes every single day), and he'd bring all his friends to my house every day, without asking, so they all could play pool. (i have a pool table). I was going to break up with him.... but i didn't have the guts to. So its around Christmas time... a week before Christmas. My boss had just introduced me to his friend Chris. (who just happened to work at Dominos Pizza.... I worked at Pizza Hut, lol), and we hit it off. So my place of work was going to be having an employee Christmas Party, and we invited Chris. At the party, we hit it off even more, and were getting along great. After the party, my boss, as drunk as he was decided that this guy Ed was too drunk to drive.... so my boss drove Ed home, and me and Chris followed them in Chris' car, so we could get my boss after he took Ed home. So, Chris turns on his CD player, and plays "back2good" by Matchbox20... and the song really fit the momement. You see, i was still dating Troy, but I was practically cheating on him.... "everybody here, knows everybody here is thinking bout somebody else..." "everybody here is wondering what its like to be with somebody else..." i remember that night, that quiet stretch of road... and feeling like i was in love with somebody else. needless to say, i finally got the nerve to break up w/ troy to be with chris. but me and chris didn't last long. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 10:12:38 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Fav song question and poll. wait... another nostalgic song for me is, "Tears in Heaven". i always think of my guinea pig when the song plays..... my guinea pig was dying... and he died in my arms when Tears in Heaven was playing on the radio..... i miss Romeo. he was the sweetest guinea pig.... cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 07:29:32 -0800 (PST) From: Chris Zeller Subject: [EDA] Chills Speaking of chills....It's true the song Painters gives me chills too, but even more so, the song Adrian gives me chills. I happen to have been there and i think they will ask me questions and stories about my own personal experiences... I think that is cool and i really look forward to go to the radiostudios.... Maybe Alan can update his calendar as this is news for the dutch fans as well. Or communicate it in his jewelink mailinglist..... I think that would be cool, to tell that a dutch fan has been invited to participate and to promote jewel4s music in holland!! bye Michiel a dutch jewelfan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 09:17:34 -0800 (PST) From: Karen Boysen Subject: [EDA] green dress Here's the link for the pics of Jewel at the Rod Stewart Event: http://64.12.34.100/frames/News_Events/story.asp?articleID=2776 It should work. That's a given...besides the fact that they've changed members so many times with only her remaining throughout it all (and that one other girl maybe with the short hair). They are under appreciated, and are just finally getting some recognition that they deserve. I'm glad they won this grammy...I was surprised, but they really deserved it IMO. No Angel was released in 1999. It didn't hit big until last year, though when Eminem used part of Thank You in "Stan". I also love the edgeiness of "Daddy", this song has a feel she rarely if ever lets out. Another song with an interesting difference is "Amen".
