Regardless of worshipping, I think that instead of treating Jewel like you do everyone else, you should treat everyone else like you would Jewel. It would have the same outcome in that all would be treated equal, but it would have the added bonus of enhancing your life by actually treating people with dignity and respect, regardless of whether or not they "deserve" it. The first song i ever heard by juel was who will save my soul...then i wasn't really interested in her music or anything. Then a while later i heard hands on the radio and i was like who is that?...then i heard them say it on the radio and i was suprised cuz her voice changed alot from when i heard who will save your soul...then i really started to get more and more interested in juel every time i heard hands on the radio! Then i finally her cd (spirit) and just fell in love with her music!!! I got so into the words she wrote! Juel's music opened me to so many new things...one of the best things was Christianity! I knew god existed and i loved him and all, but i think without juel's words i probably would not be as involved with god now! Lots of her music talks bout christianity and god! Also i was influenced by the songs that deal with freedom, and how we can do something about how the world! My favorite words of juel's is in the song "life Uncommon"...they are: "Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom, no longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from, fill your lives with love and bravery, and you shall lead a life uncommon". Just in those few words so much is being said! If only everyone was like that then there would be so much peace in this world and only people who acually take a stand can create that peace that EVERYONE wants! I could go on and on about juel, but i'm getting tired, so everyone just appreciate juel's work and don't put out the fake pon stuff it doesn't show respect for one thing and that's not apreciating juel, that's apreciating her body which is wrong! I know that i give her alot of respect! An also one more thing...she loves what she does and that inspires me...i love to sing myself and juel's voice and music has just inspired my a whole lot! And I can choose to ignore you just as much as you can choose to ignore me. If I told you the fact that you don't use captial letters offensive to me, I doubt you'd change that just for my sake. We can't please everyone, and if everyone would stop trying to be so politically correct and actually state how they feel without worrying about who they would offend, I feel that things would be a lot less confusing in this world. But all in all, it is just my opinion. I have mine you have yours. I find it interesting that you make it so easy for people to hold a certain power over your emotions by using a few simple choice words. They say that a lot of times swearing is a sign of lesser intelligence, but answer me this...who is less intelligent, the person who swears or the person who allows the person who is swearing upset or offend them just by the selection of a four letter word. Why is the word "shit" so much more offensive to you than "poop" ??? It is only the weight that you put on it yourself. I personally could care less what words a person uses as long as it is not in an attacking manner. I realize that society TELLS you that these words should offend you, but some of us do not feel that we have to believe what everyone else does just because they say it's so. As I said, it's a matter of tolerance. I do applaud you for expressing your opinion. A lot of people do nothing and just sit there and complain. At least you choose to express yourself. As always with anything anyone tells me, I do think about it as long as it is presented in a manner that is debating or presenting the point and not attacking the person, which acoomplishes nothing (i.e. when people say things like looking a nude pictures means a person has a low IQ). Eihter way, I'm forwarding this message to the list, since you forwarded the last one there and I feel both viewpoints should be presented. Otherwise, I'm not going to sit here and go back and forth on this on the list because in all reality...It doesn't have a damn thing to do with Jewel. I'll think about it...but I ask that you do the same... - --- Clm4ever1248@aol.com wrote: > just cussing period does offend some people like me > even if it isn't just > toward me... it's just my opinion, and might be > other peoples opinions..think > bout that!!! ===== LH www.liquorgoat.com Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! That's funny, because I interpret her lyrics to reflect on the sad state of organized religion, the lyrics to "Who Will Save Your Soul" for instance, I beleive are speaking of people being so wrapped up in who's religion is right, and in the dogmatic stories of them, that they forget what the internal, universal message is within all religions. She may choose Christianity, but I think she sees beyond the dogma and accepts all religions as dignified and having their place in the world. read between the lines and all that is being said is "Get along, don't go out and try to cause people strife." "Be good to one another." - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: ; Sent: Friday, February 16, 2001 9:39 PM Subject: Re: [EDA] What if there was no Jewel? > The first song i ever heard by juel was who will save my soul...then i wasn't > really interested in her music or anything.
