First and most importantly. I am in a music appreciation class and we have to do a speech on something musical. I want to do it on Jewel Ive spoke on her before and used a CD player to play some music of hers for the class. Ok here comes the big question pay attention. I started learning to play guitar this year. I would like to play something of hers for class as part of my speech. Is there any really easy song to play? I have a tough time reading music and tab is relatively new to me so I struggle with that too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We've heard a lot about Olivia and I'm sure most of us would like a picture. Is there anyway that one can be distributed among the list? To me, this song is the answer to Dylan's, "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright". I wonder if Jewel ever saw it that way. Probably my favorite Jewel song, and one of my favorite songs in general, I wonder why she didn't record it. I know that if any girl that I ever broke up with wrote that song, I'd come crawling back so fast. Hi ho! But then I was confused. Why did she say, "I was thinking that I might fly today"? I always thought that flying was something liberating and beautiful. But now I can understand it better in the context it's in, though I can't explain it too well." I think she says that she "might fly today" because she wants to escape from something. Flying can be liberating and beautiful, but I also see it as a way to escape from something or someone (...maybe the world, as she says she's dissapointed with it...) But then I was confused. Why did she say, "I was thinking that I might fly today"? >> Well.. The lines together are "I was thinking, I might fly today.. Just to disprove all the things that you say.." and then in another part of that particular verse she sings, "To be respected, and be a girl..." I assumed she was saying that she would fly, because it is an impossible trait for man to fly, without an airplane of course, and that she could fly, just to prove to whoever she is refering to that she's a girl and she can do whatever she wants. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Feb 2001 22:53:08 -0800 From: Shawn E Williams Subject: [EDA] let your tears fall baby hey guys! does anyone have an mp3 of "let your tears fall baby?" please w/b love ya, shawn the butterfly angel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #41 **************************
