The album is "To Venus And Back" - but that is *not* a "rare b-sides record" by any stretch of the imagination. It's a double album, consisting of a live record and a CD of new songs. The proposed project *was* indeed to be a B-Sides album with a couple of new songs and a live record, but this never surfaced. Atlantic can't release what Jewel doesn't give them, so while with Tori Amos there was something in the region of six years worth of rarities from singles, coming to around 50-odd B-Sides, with Jewel, I can probably list maybe 20 tracks that have *actually already been released by Atlantic* that are non-album tracks, those being (in no particular order, and probably missing a good few) B-Sides from UK singles: WWSYS, Foolish Games, Morning Song (European CD Single with new mixes), YWMFM. Promo stuff : YWMFM (Radio Mix), stuff from Linoleum, PBFGAB, etc.. Compilation stuff: You Make Loving Fun, Quiet Warrior, Sunshine Superman, Have A Little Faith In Me, Over The Rainbow. That's not a great deal to work from, and much of it is still easily commercially available, in stark contrast to things like the early UK Tori Amos singles, such as the Crucify box, Silent All These Years and Winter singles. Frankly, if you want the UK/European singles, you can pick them up for something in the region of $10 without trying too hard from many online shops, the compilation stuff is still available AFAIK, and much of it can be picked up second hand very cheaply. The only things that would really be relevant are things from promo releases. The problem is, too, that Jewel is much earlier in her career than Tori, and Venus & Back was conceived for two reasons. Firstly, when it was a B-Sides compilation to make material available that had never previously been available in the US, and to stop bootlegging, and also because it appeared that Tori would not be recording much material in the near future, owing to the fact that she was expected to attempt to become pregnant again (as indeed later, she did). The time is not right IMHO for a Jewel retrospective, the market isn't there, and too much of it is still easily available. Jewel isn't on hiatus right now, there'll probably be a new album this year, so why the need for a stopgap? Do it like a day long thing, with 3 stages, but start it at like 11;am so there could be like 20 artists like Jewel, Fiona Apple, No DOubt? Just saying my thoughts. Also, those of you looking for B-sides, go to your mall. Every mall that I've been too has imported Jewel singles there with live tracks. (Example: sam goody has morning song single and austrialain spirit import) I know camelot and musicland have them too, they run about $12. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #31 **************************
