So, I (and I'm sure many others on this list) at one point considered myself to be the biggest Jewel fan on the planet. Once I joined this list and found out the lengths that some go to follow and emulate Jewel, it became apparent that there are others who edge me out for that honor. I began to wonder who would qualify as being truely dubbed her biggest fan. Thus the thought that we should have like a quarterly award for the person on the list that has done the most 'Jewelfanning' over say the last three months, and an honorable mention for alltime Jewel fans (names that pop to mind instantly are Mike for running the list, Gerrit-the guy who maintains that amazing lyrics site, and that DietyJuel guy-who as freeky as he comes off has done some serious Jewel following.) So, what's everyone think? I'd like to mesure myself against others to see where I really rank. (Being a fan of Clerks, I just tell people I'm her 37th biggest fan.) It could be nice to give people credit for what they do as devoted fans. And find out what people on the list do too. So, anyone interested? Charles. The sullen, pensive angel. P.S. Ty Murry doesn't count! :) - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is College Club the largest and fastest growing college student site? So >just accept it like the good little space monkey you are! See you! And you've missed my point entirely. Yes, I like Jewel... sure, I enjoy the discussions about her "hair color, favorite food, eye color, current love, music..." I like to discuss her-- but At least once a week someone says "Oh my, when is she ever going to come back?" She's here... you people get so impatient with her it's sickening. I don't un-subscribe to the list because every once in a while, something interesting comes up-- when it's not people just complaining because she hasn't put out a new album or things of that nature. Discussing her and obsessing over her are two different things. I guess I'm the "little space monkey" angel now. ------------------------------ Date: 16 Jan 2001 12:59:55 -0800 From: MasterYoda@looksmart.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Race Car Driver Question > I was just wondering if anyone knew the lyrics to Race Car Driver....the > part where she says: We'll stop by Micky D's for a Happy Meal ....... Yesterday I heard all of POY very intently and quietly, and as I was hearing Painters I noticed, again, that after the Change II, somewhere between the lines of "painted his portrait a thousand times or maybe just his smile" there is something like a double click... it's seems to come from an electronic device... maybe from someone from the audience? Has anyone heard that? I remember I heard it back in 1998 when I used to hear POY almost every day on my discman... I swear there is this click... but you have to listen really really close... so get your headphones and listen it, cause I swear it's something! And that is one thing I am disappointed in. I would >much rather hear the artists than some loud pitched fan screaming at the top >of their lungs the entire way through. I could not agree more with Dan (ya been hiding way too long Danny boy). The last time I saw Jewel in concert was in March of 1997 at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. The seats were off to the side in the balcony. Rotten acoustics up there, but it was the two gals behind me that NEVER SHUT UP ONCE during the entire show that prevented me from hearing one damn word Jewel sang. And they were not even screaming, just talking loudly. I mean it, if they had been screaming as I see occurring at many shows, I'd now be known as "The New Boston Strangler". Cheering/screaming at certain concerts are of course expected as they are not distracting and are the norm...even during some Jewel numbers it slightly palatable...but when she's singing an acoustic number that's a quieter song, I do not want to hear some bozo screaming "I LOVE YOU JEWEL!!" at the top of his lungs.
