Ahh. Faith Hill isn't the biggest diva, sorry to tell you. I've seen her twice, April 1999 and September 2000 both in Milwaukee, WI. The first venue she played was the Riverside in Milwaukee, capicity 2,500, which DID NOT SELL OUT. Then this year, after the success of Breathe, she sold out (with her husband) the 17,000 capicity Bradly Center in Milwaukee. One song will do it. If she does a solo tour again, it won't sell out. Remember the year 1997 for Jewel. She was the second biggest female solo act in the US that year. Billboard album charts can prove it. Do you all forget that she had the second best selling album that year, next only to the Spice Girls? Do you all forget that she is in the Guiness Book of World records because You Were Meant For Me is still the longest charting single in history? MMMMM? Do you all remember that in 1997 and 1998 there was a place she couldn't sell out? Spirit wasn't a flop, they just put the singles out in the wrong order. They went from Hands to Down so Long, and with a slower song like hands, the a rockish one like DSL. Jupiter should've been released second, it would've doon amazing. Th reason Jupiter and WSIT didn't do very well was becauase a lot of radio stations didn't put the into rotation becuase DSl did'nt do well to their standards, going only to #30 on the charts. Her new album will be amazing, and we'll all love her even if the world doesn't like the album or the singles:) I hope:) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Jan 2001 01:01:32 +0100 From: "Tom H" Subject: Re: [EDA] that article :chasing down the truth After reading posts saying stuff like 'I don't know what to think of Jewel anymore' and 'I can't believe Jewel would lie to us in her book' and a lot of crap like that... I've just realised that have any of you thought of the possibility that if Jewel could lie, so could her family? Now I definitely don't think of Jewel as a god, and I know for sure she's not perfect - nobody is - but give her some slack. Nobody knows the exact truth about the whole situation unless they lived it. Perhaps Jewel did twist the story to make it more interesting or to make her look better, maybe this family member is bitter about something entirely different and is hell-bent on making Jewel look bad. Maybe the family member was just looking for publicity? Or maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle and it's just a huge misunderstanding. The fact of the matter is: WHO CARES? Don't get all bent out of shape about one little scandal - just do what Jewel's books, music, movies, videos and whatever else are for - ENJOY THEM! Jewel's one of my favourite artists - not some kind of deity - and all I care about is enjoying her material. And that I do. If I want someone to put all my trust into, someone to be upset with when they lie or do something bad, I'll find some kind of god. Tom, who just got the Ride With The Devil DVD for Xmas and is loving the WSIT video! I'm so looking forward to the Lilith DVD on Feb 6th! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 19:13:35 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel, "Joy" and Christmas let's remember that Jewel did write Gloria..... and the transaltion for Gloria is (in case you don't know or have forgotten): Glory to God in the Highest we praise You Lord have mercy Lamb of God Glory Glory to God in the Highest Christ have mercy we praise You Lamb of God Glory Crucified and risen Grant us Peace Glory Why would one write a song worshipping/praising God and his Son if they did not truly feel what they were writing? I'm not saying Jewel is a Christian, but writing a song like that, she probably DOES most likely have faith in God and in Christ. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 20:06:04 EST From: Ppmentpati@aol.com Subject: [EDA] (no subject) I would love it if Jewel could DEFEND herself instead of everyone else forming opinions about what she wrote for CDTD. I haven't seen any real evidence in her statements, songs or other writings that she is a Christian. Certainly just singing Christian songs doesn't make her a Christian. >> I have a interview where Jewel answered the religion question. Heres that part. :) Dee I wasn't raised with any particular religion. I was concieved, however, in a fit of Mormon passion........which I find amusing. But I wasn't particularly raised with any religion and I guess I'm kind of I'm thankful for that. I've studied all religions & I find them to be very similar. I find more similarities than I do differences. I, like many people, of course find it grevious that so many wars are fought over the differences. I believe in God. I don't neccessarily think that means some guy in the sky watching you. I was raised on the land where you can't help but feel theres something bigger than you out there. And I like that. I like knowing that. I like having my little place in it. -Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 22:27:22 EST From: TigressWH@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] My Albums of the Year..who agrees? My favorite albums.. 1. Dido (No Angel)- I agree with you! She is great! I can't get enough of this CD! Goo Dido! 2. Macy Gray (On How Life Is)- I know this CD was released in the Summer of 1999, but it's great! It's been one of my favorites since before she was well known. I can't wait to see what else is in store with this new diva! 3. Lara Fabian (Self Intitled)- She is another French-Canadian singer. And all I have to say is..you go girl! This woman has a voice! I have been a fan since her french days, and I thought it was awsome to hear her sing in English. 4. Kristene W. (My Love Is Stronger)- A Las Vegas show girl, now diva! And the woman sings like a black chick! She is great, fun dance music..great singer. What more could you ask for? 5. Madonna (Music)- Again, Madonna does it again. I can't wait to see what else she has up her sleeve. ALways suprising everyone. Let's hope this album is as successful as Ray of Lite was.. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 23:43:47 -0500 From: Paul Schreiber Subject: Re: [EDA] Be Reasonable.....
