Thanks for any info! The DVD is available at any store that sells DVDs, although you might have to order it, as I doubt it would be in stock. You can also order it online at many places, including the JewelStore at www.jeweljk.com As for the VHS video, if you want one now, you will have to settle for a used copy, as when it came out earlier this year it was priced for rental at about $110. (The rental stores had it, and if you wanted to buy it, you'd have twist their arm and agree shell out the $110). However, most video rental places sell USED videos after the prime rental period for that film has passed, and you could find a used copy for sale generally for under $15. Check the major rental places like Blockbuster, Hollywood Video etc. If you want to buy a brand new VHS copy of it, wait until mid-January, as that is when it is supposed to be for sale at its new "priced to buy" price of about 13$. You can pre-order it at places like Amazon.com, and I would not doubt that jeweljk.com will also carry it when the new price takes effect. First I have to say, who cares about record sales? I just care about Jewel producing the same good music she has always produced before and the way she interacts with her fans... THAT'S IMPORTANT!!! :) > actually very good.... and Spirit sold another 4 >million overseas.. so she's not as unknown as >everybody thinks. (most of those sales came from > australia, new zealand, canada and asia.. but not europe) >I think you'll find the overseas sales were closer to >1 million than 4 million. This last statement is NOT TRUE. About the record sales... I have to present you this past news from my webpage... THEY SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES! 1. Jewel's "SPIRIT" certified triple platinum!!!! Jan 29, 1999 Jewel's second album has been certified triple platinum by the RIAA, which means that over 3 million people -- in the United States alone -- have gotten into the "SPIRIT"!! *this was only with the single 'Hands' as a promotional support... just with one single... certfied triple platinum... what do you think about that???* 2. Jewel awarded for multi-platinum titles in Australia Mar 09, 1999 Warner Music Australia treated Jewel, band, crew & WMA staff to an afternoon cruise aboard The Free Spirit. During the cruise, Jewel was presented with several awards. After dropping anchor in Sydney Harbour, the presentations included a special multi-platinum award for Australian sales of her previous releases of the album "Pieces of You" and singles "You Were Meant For Me" and "Foolish Games", as well as a special multi-platinum award for her current release "Spirit" & it's first single "Hands". *this proves she's doing well in Australia* 3. "Spirit" gaining ground in International markets Mar 29, 1999 After completing a very successful month of sold out shows throughout Australia & New Zealand, Jewel stands poised to finally break through on an international level. After an unremarkable first European Tour in 1996 & 2 moderately successful International tours of small venues & clubs in 1997, Jewel's second album "Spirit" seems to have connected with listeners globally. Currently, "Spirit" has gone platinum in both Australia & New Zealand where Jewel has just completed a tour swing. As she prepares for a tour of the Far East in April, "Spirit" currently has achieved gold status in Japan, Indonesia, The Phillipines & Singapore individually. "Spirit" is also approaching gold status in Spain & Holland, leading the way in Europe, where her world tour continues through May & June. Jewel will then spend the remainder of the summer touring North America. Please visit our Tour page for updated & accurate tour information. *Okay, so if my maths are right... it would be 1 (for Australia), plus 1 (for New Zealand), plus 1/2 (for Spain), plus 1/2 (for Holland), plus 1/2 (for Japan), plus 1/2 (for Indonesia), plus 1/2 (for The Phillipines) and plus 1/2 (for Signapore). That would be 5 million copies... around March 29... pretty good. So sorry Chris you are wrong, the figures speak for themselves* 4. Jewel blows Britain away May 10, 1999 Jewel is currently wrapping up a seven night stand in England, with concerts at Warwick's Arts Center this evening and Bristol's Colston Hall tomorrow night. Check out what POP journalist Nigel Williamson had to say about her May 7th gig at London's Royal Albert Hall in the review below. Upon completing the UK leg of her tour, Jewel will head over to the mainland for an extensive series of dates that will take her from Copenhagen to Barcelona. Her American tour begins June 25th, in Bakersfield, California, so check out the Tour Database now, and then program the number for Ticketmaster into your speed dial! By Name and by Nature Jewel Royal Albert Hall, London by Nigel Williamson JEWEL has one of those life stories that sound almost too good to be true. Born in Alaska, on a homestead without running water and electricity, she moved to California, lived in a camper van, signed a record deal and sold ten million copies of her debut album in America - all before she had turned much more than 20. The only blip in the plot to date has been that her career has been considerably slower to take off in Britain. Last year her second album, Spirit, confirmed her as arguably the most sparkling female singer-songwriter since Joni Mitchell, and her current tour should go a long way to establishing her here. On previous visits she had played solo but this time she has brought a five-piece band which added greater depth to her beguiling and seductive songs. Her lyrics are sensitive and poetic, but the band served to emphasise that she also excels at radio-friendly pop melodies that are inventive and subtle and far more complex than the usual three-chord strum. Her voice moved from a piping little-girl-lost-treble to a mature vibrating resonance, not only in the course of the same song but even in the same phrase. A solo slot with just her guitar showed that she is compelling in the Joan Baez troubadour role. Then the band returned and she slotted into rock babe mode every bit as convincingly as Sheryl Crow. Her diction was a delight - even on the hardest-edged numbers every word was crystal clear. A new song, Love Me or Just Leave Me Alone, has some wonderful Dylanesque lyrics, ending with the line: "Your sister was a stockbroker, but you ain't nothing but a turtleneck." There was also a transcendent version of her hit single Who Will Save Your Soul, with a vocal that was part gospel, part opera and totally Jewel before she returned for a second encore with some uninhibited yodelling. "What's simple is true," she had sung earlier. It summed up the Jewel philosophy but the truth is, of course, that her appealing naturalness is also the result of serious craft. This was an exquisite performance. *this speaks for itself... Jewel made an impact in Britain* 5. Joy: A Holiday Collection Certified Platinum Jan 19, 2000 Jewel has received RIAA platinum certification (for US sales exceeding 1 million), for her release of holiday classics entitled Joy: A Holiday Collection. Also her two previous releases Pieces Of You (1995) and Spirit (1998) have sold over 19 million copies combined! *Lets see... if Pieces Of You was last time certified 11X platinum and Spirit was certified 3X platinum in January (...meaning record sales could have increased... come on... it has been a year!) this means that Spirit sales must have increased to about 7 or 8 million (considering the fact that POY may have sold another million copies)* Okay, take care angels, and remeber it's not all about record sales... :) Mirko Yahoo!
