Thanks, - -=-Larry-= >> Ah! I've had a few dozen people write me asking that and I don't blame you for wondering, because it's an awesome tune. It is Cowboy Junkies and the track that's catching your attention is called "Bea's Song". It's track 9 on their "Lay It Down" CD. If anyone here has never heard this Toronto band, do yourself a favor and check into them. Their guest artist feature can still be found on Jewel's site. Just click "guest artists" and they're on our menu. This feature will also take you to their site which is quite nice. By the way, Cowboy Junkies just released a live album recorded earlier this year called "Waltz Across America" that seriously kicks ass! They've always put out good albums, but they definitely fall in the "much better live" category. This new live album has amazing dynamics and captures some incredible performances (including my favorite guitar solo this year on an intro jam to "Sweet Jane" that is absolutely killer!) It also has a live version of "Bea's Song", which brought this up. Yes, Joe, we all saw you in the front row on the left side and noticed when you gave Jewel the flowers. :) They were quite nice too. Did you notice when Mark went up there and gave her flowers? He even modeled his old EDA shirt in front of the fans while taking his flowers up! :> hehe Jewel was also quite happy again in Cerritos. Both her and Steve gave a fun performance. It was great! I do agree with Larry that she put on a better show and was more upbeat in Escondido, but I wouldn't complain about the Cerritos show either way. ;) I liked when she made comments about the crowd being surprisingly vocal for a west coast show. She's all, "In the west coast, people are usually sitting there saying 'I got these tickets for free. I know Jewel's manager.' On the east coast, the guys yell 'Show us your tits!'" Hehe.. 'tis too true. :P Tho I had no idea it was a coastal thing. :) Oh yeah, and she flipped off someone in the audience!!! Woo hoo!! I haven't seen her do that in quite some time. :) (The first time I saw her - at penn state - she flipped off guys in the audience three times, including once when someone requested "Free Bird" - get it? hehe) I still have yet to get a picture of Jewel with her finger extended. If anyone has one, I'd LOVE to get a copy of it. =) I noticed Bob, an EDA who approached Larry and I, recorded the show. Did anyone else record it? Does anyone want to trade it out? (Yeah, I might actually have to take my tape copier to work so that I can make some time to copy tapes as I haven't done that in forever as I work WAY WAY WAY too much) Gerrit Jwlfan22@aol.com wrote: > > hello all. did everyone see me give jewel the flowers tonight? it was at > the beginning of the encore. she told me "thanks, i appreciate it." oh > jewel ::sigh:: and i got her guitar pick after the show too. then i waited > for about an hour and a half in the cold for jewel to come out the stage door > (which she never did, she escaped through a different door, leaving about 30 > of us in the 45 degree darkness). anyhoo. the best part of the whole > evening was jewel's lil joke during ywmfm: > "put on my coat in the pouring rain > saw charlie's angels but it wasn't the same > it was happy, i was sad > cameron diaz made me feel oh-so-fat" > oh yeah and pierce brosnan walked out of the door where we were waiting for > jewel. and no one really cared. it wasn't jewel. if no one puts up the > setlist in the next couple days i'll post it. adios and good night. > > joe > your one constant star angel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 10:38:27 GMT From: "Magno Elento, Jr." Subject: [EDA] NJC: A Note on Human Suffering OCTOBER 20, 2000 12:09 AM A NOTE ON HUMAN SUFFERING We are all born in this world to face suffering. Let’s face it, life is tough and all people have suffered from living. Innumerable tortures await us in different intensities - physical disabilities, viruses, epidemics, accidents, murders, wars, natural calamities, artificial calamities, psychological torments, states of insanity, depression, madness and extreme emotion, mental disorders, autism and all types of unpleasant conditions. These things though unbearable at times, are tests of our faith. Faith comes in different forms for different people. If you’re an atheist, you should have strong faith in yourself and in your beliefs. If you believe in a Supreme Being, you should have strong faith in this divinity. We cannot tell how painful others have felt in their specific conditions, but one thing is for sure: WE ALL HAVE SUFFERED. From my belief, what we have to do is to have an unwavering faith, a firm resolve, and a stronger willpower to live on. To live on and to finish our tasks and fulfill our dreams. Though we may face discouragement and countless obstacles along our way, we should never give up hope that there is an end to all this suffering if we believe. In my honest belief, we can all attain happiness and fulfillment if we will never give up on life. I believe that by living our lives to the fullest, doing good, giving love to others and accepting reality, we can be assured of a brighter future. We must continue living on, so that when it’s time to face death, we can say that we have lived life to the fullest in being a good soul on Earth. And in being a good soul, we can receive a reward that befits that goodness… ETERNAL LIFE. ALWAYS, MAGNO S. ELENTO, JR. IDEAL SETUP FOR AN AMERICAN COUPLE (MAN AND WOMAN) SPECIFICS (Can Be changed) The only qualification is for a person to be really righteous and is a person who always strives for goodness. Although he fails many times, he doesn’t give up and moves on with life. He is an experienced person with a lot of practical knowledge about life on Earth. He may have led an evil existence but soon repents and mends his ways and changes for the better. He spends many years living in goodness and lives his life to the fullest. He has a strong faith and has a firm set of principles and beliefs. Oftentimes, he is optimistic about life. He really deserves his eternal reward after his death. Here is an example of a couple who lived in America during the 20th - 21st century. SPECIFICS (May not be exactly be the only case; in other words, may be changed according to personal differences in setup but similarly a good and righteous person) COUPLE’S CHARACTERISTICS: Strong faith in God Has lots of experiences in life Upholds goodness, fairness and justice One of the few American couples that didn’t divorce Celebrated Golden Anniversary in 2059 Obviously committed many mistakes in life but never gave up Are well off in life due to their skill and hard work and the fact that they are born to well-to-do families Funds charities, helps the poor and teaches good values INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERISTICS: (Characteristics vary from person-to-person, but the important characteristics that should be included in each individual are: 1)never gives up on life, 2)lives life righteously and 3)a loving, caring and faithful human being. THE MAN (born 1979 - died 2061) 5’11” or 6’3” in height had 7 girlfriends has no culture shock; easy to adapt with people had slept with his girlfriends met the Woman when he was 26, but they became steady in 2006 he was independent by 18; had a hard childhood became a Computer Science student; had a stable, high-paying job by 21; worked for 9 years before settling down married on 2009 to the Woman after a satisfying three year relationship purely heterosexual; during breaks, he usually goes out-of-town experiences to enrich his life and appreciate nature more. The Woman - was his one true love that lasted for eternity. Possesses the three important characteristics for a GOOD HUMAN BEING - he didn’t gave up on the hard times, he lived righteously all his life, and he is a loving, caring, faithful person. THE WOMAN (born 1982 - died 2070) had 4 boyfriends had slept with her 4th boyfriend whom she soon married - the Man very intelligent and very independent woman met the Man when she was 23, they became steady in 2006. She became independent by 19; finished nursing course. Very strong humanitarian sense, purely heterosexual girl Married in 2009 to the Man, at age 27 She had experienced a lot of life by age 24. The Man - was her very true love; she loved no one as deep The couple had 4 kids: 1. Boy (b. 2010 - d. 2100) 2. Girl (b. 2013 - d. 2108) 3. Girl (b. 2014 - d. 2078) 4. Boy (b. 2019 - d. 2075) - the bad boy turning good In 2050, 41 years after their marriage, they are living in peace, goodness and full meditation of their later years. They reminisce the memories of their past and how they’ve preserved their marriage for 41 years. With a full and complete faith in God and in their capacity to spread goodness to others, the couple spent their remaining years together - loving God, loving others and taking care of their grandchildren. It was a very technological age and they wished good luck to their children and grandchildren to continue the legacy of goodness that they’ve started. The couple and most of their ancestors and descendants are good people and are deserving of eternal happiness in the afterlife. They’ve maintained their goodness even after ALL that they have suffered. The couple prayed for peace on Earth for the years to come and for the future generations to make the Earth a better place to live in. May the 22nd century people onwards promote goodwill and peace to mankind, preserving peace for eternity. The couple also prayed for people to continue living in goodness and love FOREVER… When the two died, their souls wandered for some time in the Earth, but there came a time that they rose so high, up to the clouds where they became angels - guiding people and watching over their loved ones. Truly, what they’ve done on Earth had pleased God. THAT'S ALL FOR NOW, magno elento, jr. The indecision that it brings you can just tear you up inside. Everyone has gone through what you are experiencing now, luv. But try not to worry your pretty little head. Just do you what your heart feels - what you feel is right. If it feels right, then it can't be wrong. Fear of rejection is normal. But would you rather be rejected and know their feelings or forever live with the regret of not doing something you wanted to do? Sometimes you just have to say to yourself "Just do it" (copyright Nike), and live with the consequences whether they be happy or sad, because you would never be able to live with yourself for not having taken that risk. Ah hope this helps and you are able to sort out your heart. I saw Jewel's performance in Cerritos last night, (she sounded phenomenal), and afterwards we noticed a crowd of about 25 waiting by the stage door exit. We decided to wait for her. While we were waiting, we noticed a girl in a wheelchair who did not have any arms OR legs. The girls mom, (I'm assuming it was her mom), kept telling all of Jewel's people, (roadies, security guards, and basically anyone she could stop), about her daughter and about how it was a dream of hers to meet Jewel. We then continued to wait in the freezing cold for nearly two hours with Jewels associates coming out every so often to tell us that Jewel would be right out. Then, after Steve Poltz, (who was so very kind and took the time to sign autographs), and everyone else left, a security guard came out and told us that Jewel had not 'felt like' meeting with fans and had dodged out another door. The girl in the wheelchair's mother nearly cried. The security guard told her how sorry he was and that he didn't have any control over Jewels decisions. He also said that Jewel WAS made aware of the girl in the wheelchair who was waiting but had decided she was too tired, (even though she stayed after the show for nearly two hours 'mingling' with people like Pierce Brosnan). To Jewel, it may be just another night of meeting faceless fans, but for those of us who were waiting it was a rare opportunity that would have been a highlight in many peoples lives. I am so upset to think that Jewel could be such a hypocrite. She sings about loving one another and treating people with kindness but then she wouldn't take even 10 minutes with a small group of fans. Besides that, if I knew that a girl in a wheelchair without any limbs was waiting for me in the freezing cold, I not only would have felt incredibly touched but I also would have allowed her to come inside for a moment even if I was too tired to 'deal' with a crowd. I am now very disenchanted with Jewels words and music. I can't imagine acheiving a level such as she has and then becoming unable to be 'bothered' by the people who help you get and stay there. I have met several entertainers as I am in the business and have never experienced anything like this. Most people allot themselves at least 10 minutes when they leave a show. If anyone has any comforting words for me, I would love to hear them. I have always found great comfort in Jewels music and words. I am sad to believe it was all manufactured. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
