That's like completely opposite of the Milwaukee show a few days after the on at Pine Knob. Everyone i talked to said rusted root just kinda dragged on and they were boring. It seamed like only a few dozen were there to see RR. And i didn't like how they were selligns hrits saying "RR Tour 99" It was jewel's tour, not theirs, they were opening for her. They didn't thank her for inviting them to play, liek steve did and like all other opening acts at concerts i've been too. I think that they were thinking that it was kinda like woodstock or something - like there wasn't a headling act. Well, RR, Jewel was the headlliner, no you so ha ha ha. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Nov 2000 10:38:34 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Rusted Root and Jewel... > That's like completely opposite of the Milwaukee show a few days after the > on at Pine Knob. If you're not into jambands, bluegrass, and southern roots type music, chances are, you won't like RR. >t seamed like only a few dozen were there to see RR. > And i didn't like how they were selligns hrits saying "RR Tour 99" It was > jewel's tour, not theirs, they were opening for her. I have to disagree there. If they were pretty much opening for every one of her shows in the US, whether or not they're an opening act, it is still a tour. It was Jewel's tour, but it was RR's tour as well. Even if they go around, opening up for various people around the country, it is still their tour. Just like it was Steve Poltz's tour. They were separate tours from Jewel's tour. >They didn't thank her > for inviting them to play, liek steve did and like all other opening acts at > concerts i've been too. I don't recall 3EB thanking U2. I don't recall Brian Setzer thanking Bob Dylan. I don't recall RainLord (a local band) thanking Survivor.... >I think that they were thinking that it was kinda > like woodstock or something - like there wasn't a headling act. Well, RR, > Jewel was the headlliner, no you so ha ha ha. I think they knew Jewel was the headliner, but that doesn't mean they can't do a good set just because they weren't the headliner. "They never play anything good anymore.... like real music (with real instruments... not electronic samples)" You took the words out my mouth! Sometimes I listen to my local Spanish station because they still play actual instruments for people's songs, instead of that computer generated stuff. I often find myself wondering, "What instrument is THAT??" and realize it;s no instrument at all! Oh the horrible frustration! Anyway... I just have a few wondering questions about Jewel that I have, well, been wondering about... Do you think that she will get married and have children? They would be wonderful children... AND I was wondering, Has Jewel gone to college? I don't think that she has, but I thought maybe there's a part of her that I have missed... I know that she has had education at Interlochen, in Michigan, where I live!! It's great to hear that beautiful, talented musicians come and grow from here, Michigan. Wow... anyways... Talk to me! - -Allena (The Musician Angel) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Nov 2000 21:02:44 EST From: Jamieangel1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] underated artists and a little rugburns 2 artists that are possibly 2 of the most amazing talents in music ever are Jason Mraz and Sheila Nicholls. Jason plays in Southern Cali a lot (or at least he did last year) and you can find him at www.jasonmraz.com. He also played the side stage at Jewel's Irvine concert last year and played at the EDA gathering of angels in San Diego. I found Sheila completely on accident. She sent her CD to a coffeehouse I was running at the time, and she came to play 3 months later...I knew every word to all of her songs by the time she got there. Recently, I rented High Fidelity (GREAT movie, by the way), and the soundtrack featured and introduced Sheila...very cool. =) Anyway, www.sheilanicholls.com or just email me if you actually care. =) Oh yeah...so I saw the Rugburns with Wes at Rotollo's in Baton Rouge Friday night, and they, of course, kicked ass. They were all hilarious and they played a couple improv songs (one appropriately entitled "Rotollo's"), some old stuff like The Fairies Came, Football Tonight, Hitchhiker Joe, Kilkiney Pub...stuff I always wanted to hear live such as Better Build A Fence Around My Heart, the COMPLETE uncensored version of the ABC song, Now's Not the Right Time For Love...and some songs I didn't know. Anyway, they rocked. =) Jamie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Nov 2000 21:17:18 -0500 From: Shannon Mackie Subject: [EDA] NJC: Underrated Bands You guys should really check out Phantom Planet. Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew (perhaps Mike or MrBB) if Jewel played guitar on the studio recordings of Spirit? I was looking around for lyrics to a song by Kendall Payne and I happened to come across a link that said Jude Cole had done work on Kendall Payne's album, but also listed Spirit, and from what I perceived, it was saying that Jude Cole had played the guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin etc. on Spirit. I had just assumed Jewel had done it herself! So I was just wondering if this is accurate, or if I misinterpretted it? ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Nov 2000 21:37:00 -0500 From: Scott Evans Subject: Re: [EDA] Jude Cole on Spirit? >So I was just wondering if this is accurate, or if I misinterpretted it? The only two songs Jewel played guitar on were Fat Boy and Enter From The East.. The rest were done by Jude Cole or other studio players..
